Hi @djpaul
Yes we still want to change & improve BuddyPress using more features as plugins to do it smoothly. So no “reboot” 💥, but progressive changes 🐢.
Hi @coolhunt
Thanks for your feedback. I’m happy to read you found the “platform” that was able to match your expectations. The customer support you get is probably included into the price…[Read more]

Hi @djpaul thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts 😍. It’s true BuddyPress backward compatibility is preventing us to do breaking changes. I thought using a plugin to try to migrate to Rewrite API would help make the transition. Problem is not much plugin developers are testing it and we’re stuck.
Although a bit « radical », I like the idea of res…[Read more]

Hi @ok2net @muhittinsahilli & @johnjamesjacoby 😉
Thanks a lot for your feedbacks 😍. Very interesting ideas!! I’ll add the « spam protection » one I received on Twitter to the list.
Just like John who gave the right example as a Project Lead, I’ll share my ideas 😁.
A first category of ideas is about getting more hands to help us build great t…[Read more]

@djpaul thanks for the feedback. I’d say then that having a dropdown template pack option in the options page gives the impression that we can switch between the 2 as long as a theme supports both. In fact if I start working with BP + Twenty Seventeen or underscores, I need to stick with whichever pack i choose from the beginning if I make…[Read more]

@djpaul but lets say we want the THEME to remain compatible with both? would it be possible to switch between the 2 template packs for a theme having a the override/buddypress folder in order to modify bp templates and still have the theme stay compatible with both packs and my modifications in each?
I can look for custom functions for each pack…[Read more]

@mastershas and @djpaul
I was trying this for four hours yesterday with a developer highly experienced in php (but no experience with buddypress) and we weren’t able to get anywhere :S
I created a directory on my child theme folder: buddypress > members > single > cover cover-image-header.php (did this here)
tried to add for example to display…[Read more]

Thanks for your reply @djpaul, really appreciated. I’ve been working on this for the past four months and I tried to outsource this to a freelancer, but it did not go well.
I’ve read the page you’ve sent several times now, but I’m still unsure how to find the HTML to for example the following from the member/profile page:
1) move <h1…[Read more]

Hi @djpaul
My theme was not built to be compatible with Buddypress unfortunately. Where can I edit the php and html myself for this issue? I was trying to navigate plugin > editor > buddypress but I couldn’t find the php for each members profile page and also the html file. So far I could only edit CSS using appearance > customize css.

Matt2012 replied to the topic bp_send_email problems – not finding template email in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 8 years ago
Ok so I have managed to fix the issue following your advice by adding a line.
$must_use_wpmail = apply_filters( ‘bp_email_use_wp_mail’, $wp_html_emails || ! $is_default_wpmail );
$must_use_wpmail =false; //New LineSo why is this filter returning true?

That’s strange!
Without customising anything, I see this on my install:
@djpaul did all of the Email API heavy lifting, perhaps he knows if there should be items in the list by default?

@djpaul Thanks for taking time to think about this. Unfortunately I don’t know much about PHP, or believe me I would be on the case… But if it’s any help I have seen 2 plugins on these forums over the last few years that between them partially do this. I am quite green with this but maybe they could be a good reference? BuddyPress members import…[Read more]

You shouldn’t *need* to restore your database.
@djpaul I’m assuming that doesn’t apply to every new release though?
