    1)

    I do have BP-version 1.0.1 running on a site and have made a few customizations so far (just CSS-changes and some images).

    So with the new template-structure: should I delete the current install completely and get the BP-version 1.1 installed ? I mean: what is the best way to upgrade to the 1.1-version when it will be released in the next few weeks ? I definitely want to have the new template-structure, so I guess I would need to set-up my website from scratch, right ?

    And: I am running the site in german-language only.

    2)

    will this new template-structure also make it easier to design a custom-template for the user-blogs ?

    Like I would like to have the user-blogs having the same CSS-style as my main pages ?

    I still have not been able to figure how to do this. I would like the user-blogs to have the same design in order to have a consistent website.

    Why is this not already the case at http://www.testbp.org ? Why is it still the original WordPress-design ? Is there a chance you create a plugin or something at which the Admin is able to select to chosse the design of the “User-Blogs” like choosing from “WordPress original design” or “TestBP.org design” ?

    3)

    is there a chance to have a “package install” which will have ONE package which will include all latest software: WordPress 2.8.x, BuddyPress 1.1 and BBPress ?

    I read many post where I see people having troubles integrating the BBPress-software into the system (even an experienced BP-expert had troubles).

    Is there a chance you will create a 1 Package download which will make it very easy for people to have a full website (like http://www.testbp.org) installed ?

    So literally 1 click-download will create a ready-made website, same like testbp.org ?

    4)

    a user-request to get invited into a “Private Group” is not possible being accepted. This does not work yet at my installation and I think this is a general bug.

    5)

    the wording of “Blog” and “Blogs” is confusing. In both english and german language.

    Many thanks,

    Hi r-a-y,

    many thanks for your answer !

    I do not understand what “sandbox” means, anyhow: will it be working when I do upgrade my website to the latest WPMU and latest BP-version ?

    this issue is also mentioned by another person at the german-language-Forum of http://www.buddypress.de

    So we are not the only ones having this issue….

    changing the image-source does not help.

    You also need to change the CS is in the PHP-files.

    So for example: ONE PHP-file refers to CSS-code in different sections of the BP-website (like “Member-Wire” and “Group-Wire”).

    So if I change the CSS in the PHP-file, ALL images will change (in both “Member-Wire” and “Group-Wire”) . But I do not want to have ALL images changed, just specific ones in the “member-Wire”-section.

    So how to achieve this ?

    Suggestion for BuddyPress:

    Generally speaking, BuddyPress-software should organized its CSS-codes specific to website-sections (like Members, Groups, Wire).

    Currently the CSS-code is specified more like for “left-column” , “center-column” or “right-column”.

    Doing so, will make it easier for developers to customize their websites……

    Hi Mike,

    actually, I do want to have something different:

    Let´s say at the “bp_home”-theme. I would like to have 2 different images at the “left column”.

    So a different image for “Site wide activity” and a different image for “Most recent Blog”.

    I have those 2 widgets in my left column, but would like to have a different image for each of those two sections.

    How can I achieve this ?

    Many thanks,

    Erich

    O.K., I got it:

    you need to overwrite each CSS-line from the original base.css file:

    #header h1 a {

    background: url(../images/logo.jpg) no-repeat;

    overflow: hidden;

    width: 1088px;

    height: 142px;

    display: block;

    margin:0px auto;

    text-indent: none;

    float: none;

    }

    Hi Jeff,

    many thanks for your answer !

    1)

    I still do not understand what is the difference between the “skeleton” and the other themes ?

    Is it literally the same ?

    2)

    Also, if I save a copy of the original theme “bp_home” with a different name (e.g. bp_home_erich), how do I make sure that the system will use my custom-theme (bp_home_erich) instead of the original theme “bp_home” ?

    Do I need to change the code somewhere so that my custom-theme is considered by the software ?

    Thanks again,

    Erich

    Hi Andy,

    there are still a few questions which remain open – at least for me:

    1)

    how can a user go from BuddyPress-website (like this one) to the other Dashboard under the URL https://buddypress.org/wp-admin/index.php

    At least I can not figure out how to do this at this website (buddypress.org)

    2)

    does each user have 2 Dashboards now (the one you created just recently) and the other one at the URL mentioned above ?

    3)

    the dashboard (at the URL https://buddypress.org/wp-admin/index.php ) – do I understand that each user has his own interface like this (User-specific) ?

    Or this is just for the Website-Admin ?

    Or each user is seeing the same thing (General Dashboard) ?

    Just trying to understand…….

    Thanks,

    Erich

    Hi Burt,

    great plugin !

    Is it possible that a user is defining whether he is a “plumber” or “architect” (Member Category select from a drop-down-field) during sign-up ?

    Many thanks,

    Erich

    I do see the same issue at http://www.testbp.org when I do click on the alphabetic member-bar.

    Clicking on any of the letters (A, B, C,……) , the site keeps loading forever…..

    Hi Gaetan,

    it is for any name. I do search for an existing name, but the graphics (3 orange-colored squares) are blinking forever.

    Also, when I click an a specifi character like “M” or “K” at the alphabetic-bar, then the graphics (3 orange-colored squares) are blinking forever, but it does not show the name-list.

    Not sure why this is, I do have the latest browser-versions installed……

    hmm… strange.

    Even when I click on the Alphabetical “Members Directory”, it does not work.

    I tried both with FireFox and IE-browser.

    However, the Members-search at the search-box (located at the top-left having the drop-down-menu) works fine.

    Hi DJPaul,

    I am interested in the P2 theme for BP as well.

    Could you please send me the URL of your website at which you are using the P2 with BP (in order to see how this works) ?

    Am willing to pay a couple beers as well if I am gonna be using it……

    hmm… having groups sorted alphabetically, would definitely be a great thing.

    I would need this as well.

    Hi 21green,

    I am looking for exactly the same thing.

    Is there a developer out there who is able to achieve this ?

    If yes, please contact me.

    Hi Jeff,

    I do understand that the backbone of BuddyPress is WPMU.

    As WPMU is managed / owned by Automattic, are they planning to make Multi-Language-Versions of WPMU a possibility ?

    I do undrestand that this will take some time and therefore stopped the plan for running my website in 2 languages.

    Many thanks,

    Erich

    another question:

    who is able to view and acess the Dashboard ?

    Are ALL users able to have this or can I make this “exclusive” for certain memebers who have the rights to creat a “Group” ?

    Please let me know how this Dashboard works.

    Hi,

    are there any reference-websites which are being run in 2 languages and can confirm that ONE BuddyPress-installation is sufficient to be able to run 2 languages ?

    do I understand correctly that I do need to have 2 installations of BuddyPress, 2 installations of WPMU and 2 installations of BB-Press in order to run my website in 2 languages ?

    Appreciate your advise.

    Many thanks,

    Erich
