I am interested in this as well:
– the BASIC profile-information about the user should be publicly visible.
– the DETAILED profile-information about the user should only be visible for registered users.
any chance to get this implemented into the official release of BP 1.1 (prior to Jeff Sayre´s Privacy-Plugin) ?
Many thanks,
your plug-in works fine !
Would be nice to see a feature, that users do not have to visit the Dashboard, but being able to post via the theme.
Also, the possibility to disable the Dashboard at all would be great (for many people, using the Dashboard is just too complicated….).
Many thanks,
Erich
Hi DJPaul,
I am using the latest trunk-version and the latest version of WPMU.
Yes, the language-version is “german-language”.
Many thanks,
Erich
a BP-expert has setup my website.
Still, I do have the same issue as mentioned above.
Clicking on Alphabetic letters for member-list does not work…….
Seems to be a BP-issue ???
Hi Ray,
thanks a lot.
This is solved !
I have posted a similar question regarding Multi-Language before, but did not receive constructive answers regarding this. I would like to set-up BP in 2 languages (english and german).
Would be interested in seeing something regarding this feature.
Hi John James,
where will this P2-theme being apllied ?
At each User-blog, or at a Group-Blog or somewhere else ?
Many thanks,
Erich
at the bottom left, underneath the word “Groups”:
Hi Jeff,
will there be a feature like http://www.studivz.net is offering:
– a user can see which other users have visited his profile-page.
– a user can hide himself when visiting other user´s profile-page (so that the other users will not see that he visited their profile-page).
Many thanks,
Erich
wow Jeff, this is absolutely great news !!! Will this be included within BP 1.1 ?
Will there also be a feature like “hiding my activities” ?
Many thanks,
Erich
Hi Marius,
will new Blogs be shown up within “Site Wide Activity – Blogs” ?
Many thanks,
Erich
Hi Marius,
so how does the dashboard for users look like for the Group-Blog ? Does the user still have access to his own dashboard or is it possible to disable this ?
I guess by using P2-theme, there is no need for the complicated user-dashboard anymore ?
Many thanks,
Erich
Hi Marius,
many thanks for your answer and your work to create this plugin for version 1.1 !!!
I am looking forward to using this.
– is it possible with BP to disable the “Wire” ?
– is it possible to use P2-theme in your “Group-blog” ?
– are there any language-related wording in your plugin (at the user-interface) which need to be translated when I would like to run your plugin for a german-language-website ?
Thanks again !
Erich
sorry, but another question: what is a “Group-Blog” and how does it work ?
– the Admin creates just ONE Blog for a certain group at which every user can contribute ?
OR
– each User is allowed to create his own “Group-Blog” at which other users can contribute ?
Please explain how this works.
Also, I am curious about:
having a Group-Blog, having a Group-Forum, having the Wire ? Where are the differences ? What are the advantages / disadvantages of each ?
Does it make sense to have all 3 of those ?
Many thanks,
Erich
– can I have a Group-Blog instead of the BBPress-Forum ?
– I would like to disable User-Blogs for each single user, but instead have a Group-Blog using P2-theme. Does this work with your plugin ?
– Is your plugin compatible with BP-version 1.1 ?
– what is the difference from your Group-Blog-plugin compared with the one from Burt ?

Many thanks,
many thanks for your reply. I do appreciate your work on this – hope to get a copy
Hi Andy,
will this issue be solved with the next release 1.1 ?
Many thanks,
your website is GREAT !!!!
so if I do understand correctly, you have removed the possibility for users to write their own blog ? And you have instead implemented the P2-comments instead of user-blogs ?
So the users are not able to write their own blogs anymore, but instead writing their own threads (I guess they can write more than 1 thread ?) ?
This is exactly what I am looking for, as my users are people at the age of 50 years and they are not willing to write their own blogs…..
@John James,
when you say:
“I’m in the process of porting the P2 theme into the new BP 1.1 framework”
what does that mean ? Will there be a P2-theme for BuddyPress ? Could you please explain ?
Many thanks,
Erich
is there a chance that BuddyPress integrated P2-theme for the wire and forum as a standard ? I think that would be a great thing and would provide a very quick solution in order to have the posts in a threaded version – which would make BuddyPress superb !
Any thoughts from Andy about this ?
coold idea using the P2-theme for the wire.
could you please drop me the URL of your website so that I can have a look how this looks like ?
Many thanks,
Erich
@John James, (it´s strange to always have to write “@somebody”, why is the forum and the wire not THREADED ? Also, why does the person I am replying to not get an e-mail-notification about my reply?)
anyhow, now to my question:
how to easily apply my own custom-theme onto the user-blogs ? I would like to have ALL my user-blogs to have the same design as my main-page.
Many thanks,
Erich
Hi Jeff,
many thanks for confirming ! So I do know now that it´s not an issue I am having myself only.
I just had the issue when I was trying to load the main page at URL http://www.buddypress.org
Best regards,
Erich
the user is having access to your admin-interface ?
where do you click within your navigation-menu, so that the user can access your Admin-interface ?
I just logged into my website as a user and did not see this issue. However I see that a user is able to install “Plug-ins” and also use the “Tool”-section. This is really not something which I would like to show to my users as they anyway have no clue what to do with all this….
many thanks for your comments !
Is there a chance to charge users for having a blog ?
– users with just a normal user-account: free
– users signing-up for having their own blog: have to pay a monthly or yearly fee
