    I have the exact same problem:
    WPMU Version 3.2.1
    BuddyPress 1.5.1
    mysite.com/register >>> goes to >>> mysite.com//

    @DJPaul Can I start using bbPress plugins now that 1.2.9 is out? And how do I do that?

    @sbrajesh, hello I gave your plugin a try, however it doesn’t account for MU blogs, or am I missing something? Will this ever be addressed in buddypress (a sitewide easy search)?

    Really nice site @valuser thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for the answers. @Mikey3D, I used the code as you directed and it worked great.
    You said that I should let the user decide where to go and not the other way around. However, it’s not me that has decided that, rather it is the majority of social sites that directed users to their profile. Although, I must say that what you said is true also; a user should specify where they want to go although I haven’t seen that in practice. Great idea though.

    @laconic you said that’s just the way it works, but shouldn’t we question why it works that way. I hope no one gets me wrong–I really want BuddyPress to work, however someone on the internet commented that there is no successful BuddyPress site. Which may not be true, but it gets you thinking–how many BP sites are actually successful? I would think by now at this stage in the development that there would be quite a few. Does anyone know of any? I found this link to successful BP sites. To those who contribute to BP, thanks I really do appreciate BP.

    I am really trying to understand this one, however, I cannot get it. All logins should redirect to the user profile, because that is why a user uses your site in the first place. They care about their information, not the websites general data. I have seen many posts about this, but why does BuddyPress think it’s not the case that a user should redirect to their info?

    Is there a way to code this, without getting into BuddyPress and later regretting it. I don’t want to use anymore plugins.

    Thanks for any enlightenment on this topic, and any help.

    hello @mercime I didn’t get your reply till much later. I ended up finding what you said above:

    And it worked great, however I have one more situation I was hoping you could help me out with. I want to click:

    <p class="">

    the above and have it go to the next picture, instead of just showing the same image on the page only, any idea?

    I am a little confused–this post has been going on for a while, however, there was no answer to it. And I noticed that buddypress.org does not even use the search that comes with buddypress, they use a better one. How can I implement that one? Cause no one really will use the standard one with buddypress as it doesn’t make too much sense. People just want to type something in and find it, not use a drop down that only pulls data from that topic (members, blogs, etc…). Thanks for your help on this topic.

    not sure how to use (bp_adminbar_blogs_menu() function in /bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php) it. I tried this:
    a href=”‘ . $site_url . ‘wp-admin/post-new.php”‘ . __( ‘New Post’, ‘buddypress’ ) . ‘/a
    but it showed this in my address bar:
    http://mysite.com/%27%20.%20$site_url%20.%20%27wp-admin/post-new.php

    It didn’t show the user address. What part am I missing? Thanks

    In reply to: Default BP blog theme?

    @famous

    Participant

    @gwu123 – I didn’t add that, and currently I don’t see any problems with the theme. Can you tell me what happens if I don’t add that? Thanks

    @famous

    yeah, I thought about that too. And the reason I cross posted is because it can go on either site. As a WordPress user or BuddyPress user, both need to consider an effective homepage. And though the activity stream is great. There needs to be sections in order to capture an end users attention, and keep it. So I thought this post can rely on either site. Someone may be working on or know something about what I am suggesting? Remember BuddyPress last year? Andy had something similar to what I am suggesting.
    Thanks to anyone who may have a suggestion.

    thanks @r-a-y for pointing @mercime to the past post. Well I went that path and just hacked up the bp-default. Hopefully, I won’t have hard times in the future for doing this. Thanks guys

    @stwc thanks for the caveman approach it actually help me to get a better grasp of what’s what. @andrea the theme that is active is the one that comes with the blogs, otherwise known as the default. @erich73 now I am really confused. I thought this was an all in one solution–BuddyPress. Do we have to use a different theme for registered users? I thought that BuddyPress has it’s own blog theme, or default. Shouldn’t the website look all the same?

    @famous

    If I use a new theme and rename it default it will change all the old blogs to the new default. However, all I am concerened with is forcing the buddypress theme as the new default theme. I am not interested in Andrea’s solution for new blogs, but thanks for trying. I am only interested in changing the old blogs all at once to the new buddypress theme using a child template. Or does anyone know a script like @r-a-y has suggested?

    I can’t be the only one with this problem?

    The only thing I can think of that is preventing the forced default from taking place is that I have to reference the template:

    Template: bp-default

    Does anyone have any idea how I can force the child theme to be the default? Oh and by the way I did name the themes the same in the directory. In other words I used name: default for the directory… It will just not force, something is preventing it from taking place.

    My code is this (trying to force buddpress default child theme):

    /*

    THEME NAME: default

    THEME URI: http://notimportant.com/

    DESCRIPTION: My Blog Page

    VERSION: 1.2

    AUTHOR: hello

    AUTHOR URI:

    Template: bp-default

    */

    And this is the code of the default:

    /*

    THEME NAME: default

    THEME URI: http://notimportant.com/

    DESCRIPTION: My Blog Page

    VERSION: 7.1

    AUTHOR: hello

    AUTHOR URI:

    */

    The only thing I can think of that is preventing the forced default from taking place is that I have to reference the template:

    Template: bp-default

    Does anyone have any idea how I can force the child theme to be the default? Oh and by the way I did name the themes the same in the directory. In other words I used name: default for the directory… It will just not force, something is preventing it from taking place.

    bringing up photo album. I looked at the roadmap and 1.3 did not show an album. Does anyone have any information as to when it will even be considered?

    By the way, thanks for 1.2.1

    I had the same problem. Odd, my sign up link didn’t even show up??? But I did what windHamDavid said and I went here /wp-admin/wpmu-options.php

    Note: because I have MU installed maybe different for regular wordPress

    I disabled registrations saved and re-enabled, and it worked.

    Thanks windHamDavid

    I want to keep this alive, any answers on how to get the child theme to replace my default theme? A fix in 1.2.1?

    @famous

    Participant

    is 1.2.1 coming out soon? I am hoping that will fix the blogging issues

    @famous

    Participant

    thanks for trying, however, it did not work. And on the FAQS of that plugin it says it only works for new blogs and is not designed to affect current blogs.

    This seems like a major issue that should affect buddypress. I have been with buddypress from the very beginning, and it seems like this subject would have been addressed? If I were to not have buddypress installed and simply changed the contents of the theme directory, all new blogs would take on the characteristics of the folder contents. However, with buddypress having to rely (call) on the bp-default theme, that relationship appears to keep it from enabling the default theme.

    Solutions???
