Henry Wright replied to the topic How To: change navigation? in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years ago
Hi @eversatile
I have been trying to find the file location of the profile and group navigation menus, with no luck
There isn’t a template file which you can change if that’s what you mean, but…
I would like to change “forums” to “discuss” and remove the “members” from groups menu, etc
You can customise slugs quite easily. See the [Read more]

Hi @wuvu2
This is more related to WordPress than it is to BuddyPress. Try asking your question over at https://wordpress.org/ where you may get more joy

Henry Wright replied to the topic Hide members for other members in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years ago
Hi @delphy69
Try adding this to your theme’s functions.php file
function hide_member_profiles() {
if ( bp_is_user_profile() && ! current_user_can( 'manage_options' ) )
bp_core_redirect( home_url() );
}
add_action( 'template_redirect', 'hide_member_profiles', 1 ); -
Henry Wright replied to the topic 404 Page for Activity, Groups, Members in the forum Installing BuddyPress 11 years ago
If [Anyone Can Register] is checked then they are created on the fly without all the duplicates that can cause 404 issues for beginners that are not sure how to resolve the page associations.
I wasn’t aware of that! Cheers for the tip 🙂

Hi @nunolopes99
This can be done via CSS. If you decide to go down the paid route, then try posting your requirements on the BP Jobs Board

Hi @nunolopes99
I’m not aware of anything like this available but Custom Header Extended is a plugin which allows users to set a header image on a per-post basis. You could use that as a starting point for ideas on how to achieve what you’re looking to do.

@bphelp thanks for testing 🙂
@tatakatte yeah, it’s likely something in your installation is already redirecting. The priority just makes sure
my_login_redirect()is executed first. -

Try changing the last line to:
add_action( 'template_redirect', 'my_login_redirect', 1 ); -

What info is needed
It’s hard to say with something like this as it could be something as simple as flushing your permalinks (this just involves visiting your permalinks page under Settings) or it could be a problem with your .htaccess file or an issue with how you’ve installed WordPress.
or would you recommend a fresh installation?
It depends…[Read more]

Were there any error messages? Can you describe what is happening when you add the code to functions.php?

I see four pages, each apparently published 5 hours ago. I can edit each of them, but viewing them also gives a 404 error.
This indicates there’s a problem. These pages shouldn’t be 404 error pages. There could be something wrong with your set-up, or perhaps your permalinks (as @aces pointed out). From the info available, it’s hard to tell.

Where did you paste the code? It should go in your theme’s functions.php file.

Hi @tatakatte
Try this:
function my_login_redirect() {
if ( is_user_logged_in() && bp_is_register_page() )
bp_core_redirect( home_url() . '/stream/' );
}
add_action( 'template_redirect', 'my_login_redirect' ); -

Without going to Settings > BuddyPress, just go to Pages. It’s about the 4th link in your admin area (example.com/wp-admin). Then check to see if the pages have been created.

Hi @timothylegg
But when I follow the path of Settings -> BuddyPress and then click the Pages tab, I get a page where I associate a WordPress page with each BuddyPress component directory. When I click on ‘View’ for either of the ‘Members’, ‘Activity’, or ‘Groups’, I get a 404 page.
Check if the members, activity and groups pages are actually cr…[Read more]
