In reply to: Theme in Development: Preview & Feedback?
Mainly the header and footer links/text and the ‘tutorials’ dropdown. The bit where it says “Over a number of videos I will take you through the basics of setting up a solid WordPress theme with…” is big enough I think so perhaps make everything that size.

In reply to: Theme in Development: Preview & Feedback?I really like how you’re doing subtle hover effects throughout, it makes for a rich feeling when navigating around. I also like the flat design style you’ve chosen.
One thing I struggled to read certain text because it was a bit small. Perhaps make the smallest text 10% bigger by default?
Overall the theme is very unique looking, I’ve not seen a theme that looks like this. Great job so far!
That’s supposed to be my profile – /%D9%85%D9%86%D8%AA%D8%AF%D9%89-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B6%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A8%D9%8A%D9%86/KarifAmmarSabbagh/
This link isn’t right. It looks like the URL encoding has gone haywire somewhere along the line.
In reply to: BuddyPress login problemDo you know how to get rid of it?
Try using a different theme.
In reply to: Does BuddyPress works? Is BuddyPress really works?
It sure does 🙂
In reply to: Minimum password strengthAlso,
I tried your code and it does not work for password strength, when users try to change their password on the front-end.
That’s because of the hook you’re using. It will work for the sign up step only. For the change password form, you’ll need a different hook. Take a look through the BP code base to find the one you need.
In reply to: Retaining xProfile field values on register submitHi @dkjensen
I’m pretty sure the reg form uses the POST method so the submitted values should be available as an associative array. You should be able to access them like this:
$_POST['name']In reply to: Using BuddyPress without permalinkIn reply to: Minimum password strengthAlso, well done for removing
utf8_decode(). Not sure why that slipped in. I must have been having a bad day 🙁In reply to: Minimum password strengthMy apologies, I meant
$_POST['signup_password']. I copied$_POST['signup_username']from thebp_core_screen_signup()function. My intention was to grab$_POST['signup_password'].Thanks for spotting my mistake. I have edited my code above to use
signup_password.In reply to: Minimum password strengthIsn’t that based on the availability of the user name and not on the password strength.
I’m not sure what you mean by “based on the availability of the user name”. But, in order to test for password strength, you need to ‘validate’ what the user has input. In this case,
$_POST['signup_password']will hold what the user has input when asked to choose a username.I didn’t do this part for you in my code snippet, but you could do stuff like this:
if ( strlen( utf8_decode( $_POST['signup_password'] ) ) < 8 ) { // The username is less than 8 characters in length so do something appropriate } else { // The username is 8 or more characters }This is how you validate. You could add more conditions such as ‘must contain a number’ or ‘must begin with a letter’ etc.
In reply to: Minimum password strengthYou’ll need to add some custom validation for this using the
bp_signup_validatehook.function my_validation() { // $_POST['signup_password'] is available here to validate } add_action( 'bp_signup_validate', 'my_validation' );In reply to: Hide members from Member DirectoryHi @micromart
Check out
bp_parse_args(). That’ll be the proper way to do it.Ref: https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/using-bp_parse_args-to-filter-buddypress-template-loops/
In reply to: Holiday / other absences of usersHey @irenehofer
I’ve not seen a plugin that can do specifically what you need, but try searching the WordPress Plugin Directory for something similar and then perhaps try modifying it to your needs.
In reply to: Button that links to the Private Message (compose)Try placing this in your member’s profile template:
<a href="<?php bp_send_private_message_link(); ?>" title="Private Message">Private Message</a>In reply to: Button that links to the Private Message (compose)Oops, I just noticed I supplied you with an add friend button; nothing to do with private messages, so sorry about that. Let me take a look to see if I can find something.

In reply to: Button that links to the Private Message (compose)Hi @akosichen
If you’re in the members loop, you can use this to output a button:
bp_member_add_friend_button()In reply to: Automatically upload avatar photo after file select. You’d need to use JavaScript for this. Something like “on file select, trigger submit button click”
In reply to: Edit ProfileIn reply to: Changing the text color on the Registration pageDo you mean the ‘Home’ item in your navigation? The rest of the text on that page already seems to be white.
Try adding this to your theme’s style.css document:
.header .header-inner .nav ul li.current_page_item a { color: #fff; }To learn about CSS, check out this resource:

In reply to: Sitewide MessagingHi @pssawhney
Site notices and private messages are separate; so there’s no need to populate every member’s inbox.
Hey @mcpeanut!
The pandemonium is rarely related to WordPress core or BuddyPress core (the core devs usually issue a fix before we even know there’s a problem). So it’s a great idea to keep up to date as you’ve already mentioned.
The tricky part arrives when we look at plugins. Whilst WordPress does everything it can to make plugin developers aware of security issues, fixes are ultimately down to the plugin author. It’s always a good idea to use plugins that are activity maintained and supported. The same could be said for themes actually.
