    MS is always a setup that is significantly more complex than a single site BP setup which probably the majority of installs are and with which people here are familiar with, add into the mix the domain mapping and it’s that bit harder to diagnose.

    Given the issue description it’s not going to be easy to suggest what’s wrong and possibly why there hasn’t been a response ( on forums when no response the form is to attempt a re-wording or addition of detail in case those are the reasons for lack of response)

    Detail such as where BP is installed exactly, which plugins are in use doing what exactly are going to help but be aware to some extent trying to replicate this as an issue might require someone having to attempt to setup exactly along the lines your install is to be able to understand the issue and that that may be too much to expect on a volunteer support forum.

    Groups or ‘Group’ have a series of unique body classes that ought to provide all the styling parent/antecedent hooks you might need. A single group has ‘.single-item’ ‘.groups’ common to all of a groups screens, then for individual component screens they will have their own class as in ‘group-members’ using a combination of these should let you style as you require – .single-item.groups {} should give you all screens. In 2.2 I’ve put a patch in to add the group name to the boddy class array so we should have that available too in future for easy group distinction.

    @yanner11 this is tending to veer off from the purpose of this forum to help with BP issues, you may be best addressing server questions to your hosting support?

    You might try logging into your hosting account control panel and seeing how things look from whatever file manager is provided.

    btw if you have vaultpress you should be able to revert back and out of any issues not sure why you couldn’t?!

    That’s bbPress, bbPress isn’t BuddyPress 🙂

    bbP handles overloaded styles in same manner BP does so you can copy the stylesheet for bbpress to your theme/child theme and edit the relevant rulesets.

    That link to ‘Widgets is removed as it doesn’t look to provide widgets but is a personal page and thus the link not appropriate to the thread, if this is in error apologies please contact a moderator and it can be re-instated.

    At this stage we can’t help as you provide no idea of what sort of issue you are having; this plugin author you contacted replied to you thusly You might want to contact one of the developers of the plugin that is causing the problem and send them the information in your console no information though!

    Not sure why you have arrived at the conclusion BuddyPress is the issue here though, BP is coded very tightly to WP standards and is less a plugin and more an extension of WP functionality.

    You actually list a number of fairly complex plugins that you consider cause the issue and seem to have posted this question on bbPress forum their response is going to be the same as ours at this stage without much more information, but frankly if one states a number of plugins appear to cause an issue on an individual basis then the one common denominator would likely be the problem and in this case that’s the bol.com plugin, but that’s not pointing the finger so to speak at bol but the resolution will lie with bol rather than bbPress or BuddyPress.

    @shanebp thanks for clarifying the changes.

    @myg0t Big thanks for adding this to the codex, please don’t be put off by us pestering on the changes 🙂 bp_parse_args greatly simplifies things in terms of not having to have people locate, overload, possibly set up a child theme etc. wp_login is important to ensure you only run your function once.

    Common formatting of codex pages is something hard to achieve I created a couple of basic templates saved as drafts that can be copied ( i.e content copied) but they are not perfect but help. We’re still trying to see how to provide and enforce a format.

    @mcpeanut the changes mentioned weren’t that extreme you should be able to adjust the code based on what was suggested by shanebp and myself. bp_parse_args() is well documented in the codex and is relatively trivial to implement, the update function simply changing the hook it runs on to the WP login hook so it only fires once per user login/session.

    I would look though in the codex for the final example rather than request it be duplicated here for convenience.

    Don’t worry too much about those tags we’ll update them as necessary(component is ‘Members’, type is ‘loop’, context I guess has to be ‘Developer’) and I’m looking into sections to hold user tips/tricks so may be shuffling pages around, for now it would live under ‘developers’

    > If I do, will I be able to edit it?

    Yes of course, as will anyone else though as that’s how the codex functions, but you are author, you may edit/update anytime you wish.

    It’s a hard one to identify as generally the activations work without issue and unless we can directly replicate an issue or have a lot more detail it’s hard to think of reasons it may fail. What happens if you copy paste the activation code directly into activation page?

    @myg0t Thanks for sharing that with the community, S2 Member has wide use so this ought to be useful to people.

    One point though it’s best not to advise that people edit a core file /buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/..etc BP has a fairly well defined template hierarchy overload allowing files to be copied to the theme or child theme, those are the copies one should edit.

    Another minor point rather than have to edit & pass the arguments in the template could bp_parse_args() perhaps work for this?
    Using bp_parse_args() to filter BuddyPress template loops

    In respect of the profile data would not setting the user visibility options on the profile field/s in the backend not work to provide the privacy for address fields, just a thought but I may have missed the point of this aspect.

    Lastly this could make a nice user example guide for the BP codex if you’d care to post it there and we’ll slot it under a section appropriate.

    What was the outcome when you swapped to a standard WP theme such as twentyfourteen?

    Does your install work work period in regards BP, not sure about that rather non standard server path where you have plugins under /themes/x/framework/functions/plugins/buddypress.php – to my mind that should not be working.

    In reply to: Unban from Group?

    @hnla

    Participant

    @skyrie I think you have a good point here, just been running quick test logged in as a general WP subscriber with ability to create a group and having done so naturally become it’s admin and effectively ‘owner’

    Banned a member and as you point out and although as we have things setup we can unban after banning you can’t from the frontend and as things are set the groups backend admin is locked into the WP admin role, for reasons I can understand it has to be locked into a role with fairly high perms even though the subscriber does have limited access to backend. What would be nice is if the subscriber could see just the group that they created in the backend.

    Regardless not being able to unban from the frontend is an issue, or effectively unless a site admin not being able to unban period is a massive issue!

    I think we need to raise a ticket on this and see what can be done.

    @hnla

    You do need to pass this to the theme author as it’s theme related and have them look into it. I would have done that while waiting on any other responses 🙂 it’s not really that easy for us to fix without seeing your theme files.

    members/last_activity are not the records you’re looking for you should have entries for activity/activity_update in reference to blog comments.

    There must be a setting throwing things out, can’t understand how a a fresh install would also have this same issue.

    What server / db are you running? Are basics like permalinks all ok and set?

    @judder Could you create a trac ticket using the same login for here, your concerns will get lost on the forum, trac is where issues will receive attention.

    Ran some quick tests on trunk and can’t find any issues, I can comment on post, displays in activity stream, comment on activity stream entry and it syncs back to actual post, commnet in a nested style comment on comment and those work in same manner as well.

    Not sure what your issue is here, have you access to your DB can you check the bp activity table, see if entries are being made for your comments.

    How are you installing BP?

    On the off chance there are some repair tools under WP > tools don’t think they will help but doesn’t hurt to try blogs one.

    The fact you have problem on two separate installs seems to be key here to pointing to something unique on your end or am I mistaken in the two installs? You mention WP MS and a single install do both show same issue?

    Have you any caching plugins running or that were running before testing with plugins deactivated – the single site install is though a completely clean one?

    @hnla

    Participant

    @janthiel Not sure why you’re having trouble with this, site admins can always manage all aspects of their registered members profiles including deleting or uploading avatars from the front end or from the backend under users extended tab.

    @hnla

    Participant

    Yep you’re meant to be able to see pages like that and like activity stream, BP is not intended on being a private community out of the box, securing pages is pretty easy though; try searching the forum please as it’s been discussed many many times.

    @hnla

    Participant

    no it’s only a cache error if you had installed a caching plugin in the first place, unless you have tweaked your server in some arcane manner – get rid of the caching plugin they are a bloody nuisance, use it when you’re live if you really need to but then not for dynamic pages which BP’s mainly are.

    BP uses page.php in theme compat mode where the user name is injected into the WP title() function – or you can override that template file with your own located under either ‘community’ or ‘buddypress’ in your theme root, further to that you can replace the use of /members/single/home.php with index.php and variations of that as explained in the codex; lastly you could be running the older bp-default templates in which case you may have /members/ in your theme root which BP will detect and assume an override of theme compatibility mode is required.
