In reply to: Blank page after install Buddypress 1.1.2
Have you tried deactivating BuddyPress, deleting the contents of the /wp-content/buddypress/ directory, and then reinstalling and reactivating?
In reply to: Register vs wp-signup : passwords vs signup questionIs the plugin you’re referring to this one?

If so, it states that it is not updated to the newest version of WPMU and that there are no plans on updating it. Also, again if this is the plugin with which you are having issues, then you will more than likely not get much support on the BP.org forums. Since this is a premium plugin, the developers of it should be doing the support. In other words, you are not going to have someone solve the issue here for free when someone else is making all the money.
If it is a free, GPL plugin you’re having issues with, please provide the link here. Also, contact the developer and make sure that it is compatible for use with BuddyPress in general and that it has been update to the BP 1.1.x series.
In reply to: Activation emails not arrivingYes, that is the next step I’d suggest.
In reply to: Activation emails not arrivingIs this a localhost development install or a remote, hosted install? If hosted, is it a live site that used to work but is now experiencing this issue?
Have you modified the standard .htaccess file that WPMU automatically creates on new installs? This could be done manually or via some plugin that you’ve recently installed and activated.
In reply to: Blank site with shoutyDoes your site work when using the default buddyPress theme? If so, you should contact the developer of the Shouty theme and ask when it will be upgraded to work with BP version 1.1.x.
In reply to: Friend request – wp-login redirects? Are there any errors in your server’s error logs? Do you have any plugins activated besides BuddyPress? If so, deactivate them all and see if the issue resolves. Also, please continuing using the default theme as we troubleshoot this issue.

So, I guess we can assume that you are also on the same server as the OP which would mean that you have the exact same server log files. Of course not. Have you actually checked your server’s log files to see if there are any errors?
We spend a lot of time helping others so we expect people with issues to spend a little of their time providing us with details about their own, unique operating setup.
In reply to: Blank site with shoutyIn reply to: import user from a wporg siteSince you have taken a WP install and turned it into a WPMU install, there would be no BP data to import from your original install. Thus, you will have no BP data when install and activate BP–other than your Admin account.
Did you search the WPMU forums for instructions?
https://mu.wordpress.org/search/upgrading+WP+to+WPMU?forums=1
If so, as DJPaul says, each member will have to log in before their initial BP data set is created.
In reply to: Member details are becoming garbled stringsSome member profiles on my site are starting to become garbled …
The way you state the issue, you make it seem as if members’ profiles that were once correct are being changed into a “garbled” set of strings. However, if what you mean is that new registrants profiles appear as garbled strings, then I would assume it is spam as well.
First thing to do is upgrade to the latest WPMU and make sure you are using some form of anti-spam protection–Akismet, captchas, etc. Also, spammers many not be the only unwanted entities targeting your site. If you are not using the latest version of WPMU, then you are greatly exposing your site to attacks from more malicious parties who target older versions of WP, exploiting any recently-announced security issues in older version.
Next, you will want to upgrade BuddyPress to the latest version. Once you’ve done that, you will need to update your theme to work with BuddyPress. you can either do that yourself or contact the designer of your theme to find out if the theme you are using works with BP 1.1.2.

We have no idea about your setup so we cannot offer help. See this:

In reply to: Friend request – wp-login redirects? What version of WPMU are you running? Are you using the default BuddyPress theme?
In reply to: Admin bar conflict with blog themesThere is css for the admin bar both in bp-sn-parent and bp-default. Look at the adminbar.css in both of those theme folders.
Also, you can make great progress in figuring out why something is doing or not doing what you want by using the FireBug add-on for Firefox.
I’m not sure what you are asking. All of the code for Burt’s plugin is located in the bpcontents folder. Search the subfolders for any file whose name contains “widget”. Open those files, and you can find the code.

Welcome back.
In reply to: Feature Request: Group Activity RSS FeedI have thought about this as it pertains to the activity feed and the privacy component properly excludes a member’s activity stream for those activities they’ve indicated they wish to be made private.
In reply to: bp_forums_setup error on activationWhich version of WPMU are you running?
In reply to: bp_forums_setup error on activationThe first time you upgraded BP from 1.0.3 to 1.1.2, did you manually upgrade or use the automatic upgrade feature of WordPress?
What I would recommend is trying this:
- Make a backup copy of your DB if you have any data worth saving
- Make a backup copy of your bb-config.php file-assuming that you had forums integrated before
- Deactivate all non-BP plugins
- Deactivate BP
- Delete the old BP files located in the /buddypress/ directory
- Temporarily remove all plugins from /plugins/–copy them to a temp folder outside your install
- Manually upload a fresh copy of BP 1.1.2 and move the contents of /buddypress/bp-themes/ into their proper place
- Remove your /wp-content/bp-themes/ directory–assuming that you have moved it back into place since your last post
- Reactivate BP
- If no error, choose and activate the new default BP theme
Does BuddyPress version 1.1.2 now work? If so, add back your other plugins and activate them.
You’re welcome!

Nice job! I’ll give this a whirl this weekend.
I assume you are asking about the “Popular Group Forums” section.
You can change the number it displays by editing the max setting on line 11 of the index.php file found in bp-sn-parent/directories/forums/
<?php if ( bp_has_site_groups( 'type=most-forum-topics&max=6' ) ) : ?>
