    There’s no need to double post. You’ve already started a thread 5 days ago with this same basic topic here: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=3268#post-17974

    As DJPaul told you in that thread, he is working on an achievements plugin. It takes time to code proper plugins. So, if you do not have the skills yourself, then you’ll need to be patient and wait for it to be released.

    Do you have any plugins, other than BuddyPress installed and activated. If so, try temporarily deactivating them all and see if the problem goes away. Please report back here.

    Hum. This is strange. Are you sure that someone is actually logged in? The Members widget only shows recent activity, not who is currently online. If no one is logged in, you will not have any users to display.

    Did you move the new theme files that come with BuddyPress into their proper location? Look in the /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/ and make sure that there is not a /bp-themes/ directory.

    I just tried the whole upgrade process again and have no issue with this widget.

    Try removing and then adding back the Who’s Online widget.

    @dinhluong-

    This is really not a support issue but a feature request. I would suggest filing a new enhancement request ticket in trac. You log in with the same credentials as you use on this site.

    I’m changing this thread to “not a support question”.

    Okay, since this seems like a test site, I would start from scratch and test one more time. This caught me eye:

    I copied the db and data to a new working domain for messing around.

    If you are going to start from scratch, you need to get rid of everything. This means dumping the MySQL DB and creating a brand new one. Do not import your old data into the new DB. There could be something in the DB that is causing this issue–that is my guess.

    BUT–emphasis added on purpose–please keep a copy of your old database if there is data you need to save. If not, then just get rid of it all together.

    So, with a brand new install of everything–new blank DB, WPMU, BP, default BP themes, no other plugins–how do things work?

    Doug-

    I can’t speak to the reason why the CSS was implemented this way, but it may have something to do with the fact that bphome is a default theme which can be replaced with any WordPress theme with a few tweaks here and there. So it follows the standard WP theming protocol.

    The bpmember theme, on the other hand, is unique to the BuddyPress world. As I’m sure you know, you cannot take a standard WP theme and tweak it into a custom BP member theme. Andy created the CSS coding protocols from scratch for BuddyPress member themes. Andy can speak to this more directly–and correct me if my assumptions are wrong!

    I could see a lot of value in pulling all of the color values & branding (logo) out of base.css and into branding.css

    I like this idea a lot!

    Yes, it is on track for v1.1. See here: https://buddypress.org/about/roadmap/

    I have filed this ticket in trac to report this bug.

    If you are just on a test site with no data that needs saving, then do a fresh install of everything–this means WPMU and also creating a new MySQL DB.

    If not, then as this is WPMU issue and not BuddyPress, the proper place for this support request is on the WPMU forums.

    I reckon as much as 25% of my users are using ie 6

    Well, based on the most recent browser statistics, you have an unusual group of users!

    It is very difficult to optimize a theme design for IE6. Are you using a custom theme? If so, look at the header.php file that comes with the default BP theme and make sure that you’ve included the calls to the ie6.css files.

    Also, here’s a thread that about IE6 issues that may help out: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2262#post-14161

    I said this in another thread about IE support:

    Getting themes of any platform (not just WordPress) to work in all versions of IE can be frustrating and tricky at best, impossible at worst. I would focus on optimizing your users’ IE experience on IE8 and IE7. Some designers are not even supporting IE6 anymore. I wouldn’t even worry about IE5.5 Of course, this is only my opinion.

    Well I just stuck this in to be absolutely sure:

    /* Array Test */
    echo is_array($bp_meta) ? 'Array' : 'not an Array';

    I placed this just after $bp_meta is set and the test does come back indicating it’s an array so that is all that really matters.

    I then placed this after the offending $bp_blog_signup_meta line:

    print_r($bp_blog_signup_meta);

    It looked fine. Data from both arrays were being properly merged.

    So, I don’t think from my cursory investigation that this is the PHP5 array_merge() issue.

    @Josswinn

    A few questions:

    1. Does this occur in all browsers or just some?
    2. Do you have cookies disabled?
    3. Which version of PHP are you running?
    4. Which version of Apache?
    5. Which version of WPMU?
    6. Which version of BP?
    7. Are there any other errors in your log files?

    As far as I know, there is not a widget that does that. It’s a good idea though!

    You could create your own custom widget using the Featured Groups widget as a template. You would need to add CSS to create a grid pattern that positions the avatars the way you want. Here’s a post in which I describe how to make a very rudimentary grid structure using CSS.

    If you do end up making this widget, consider sharing it with the community!

    I assume for the group and blog pictures it will be something similar…?

    Whereas I have not tried it, I would also assume it would work there as well.

    Jessica-

    I know that Nicola is currently in the US studying English. He is checking messages (once in awhile) but obviously very busy focusing on his primary task. The best route to contact him is either via PM using BP, or through his bp-dev website.

    @Mattlay-

    As he has not been active on these forums for over a month, I doubt you’ll get a reply from Terryjsmith.

    But, to answer this question:

    I am curious if anyone knows if bbpress and BP are working to do this somehow by default. I am sure they are working on a lot of things but like I said this seems rather important from a users perspective.

    You should view theBuddyPress roadmap. You can see that for BP v1.1, better integration support is one of the goals.

    @juanllamosas

    This thread is about Mike Pratt’s Featured Groups Widget. This allows site admins to select certain BP groups to feature. It has nothing to do with individual members.

    It sounds like you are talking about my Featured Member(s) Widget. If you are, you set a featured member by their unique ID, not by their username. When editing the widget’s parameters, it states “Member ID(s):” and “Separate member IDs by commas”.

    A member ID is the unique number automatically assigned to each user by WPMU upon registration. You can find each member’s unique member ID (also called userid), by logging into WPMU and clicking on “Site Admin > Users”. Then, hover your cursor of a given member’s username and look at the link text. you’ll see this in the url “user_id=”. You can also obtain a user’s unique ID by looking at the “ID” field in the wp_users table in WPMU’s MySQL DB.

    Okay, I missed the fact that you were working within a template. It thought you were looking to create a widget.

    Instead of creating a function within bp-custom.php, you can place this is your template file. I assume that you have made a copy of the default themes and are modifying your copy, not the original.

    Change this one line:

    <a href="<?php bp_the_site_member_link() ?>"><?php bp_the_site_member_avatar() ?></a>

    To this:

    <a href="<?php bp_the_site_member_link() ?>"><?php echo bp_core_get_avatar( bp_get_the_site_member_user_id(), 2 ) ?></a>

    @jeffsayre

    Participant

    <?php echo bp_core_get_avatar( $user, 2) ?>

    Just pass the proper member ID into $user, and you’ll get the large version of the avatar.
