It works for me as well in both Safari and FIrefox.
In reply to: How to get www in my URLOf course, Manoj is correct. I should not attempt to answer forum questions when I’m dog tired and about to hit my head on the keyboard. I read the thread’s title, not the post, and just thought, “Apache redirect option chosen when setting up domain at hosting company.”
Next time, sleep, then answer!

If you want to have a voice in the future development cycle of BuddyPress, you can vote here.
As Daniel points out, these tools are open source and free. The power of the open source paradigm stems from the fact that the greater community volunteers their time freely to extend and improve upon a given project.
You have two choices: either you wait for the developers (Andy from Automattic and outside volunteers) to implement new functionality, or you do it yourself. But, complaining about the pace of development and stating that it is simple to do and should be done already, is not the proper attitude.
In fact here’s a person, Manoj Kumar, an outside developer, that instead of complaining, did something about it and contributed to the community! Thanks, Manoj! His Album plugin is in its early stages but looks very promising: http://manojkumar.org/bppicture-album-plugin-for-buddypress/

First, off I’m tired and just thinking out loud here.
Let’s go back one potential issue. Did you find whitespace before the opening and/or after the closing PHP tags?
Next, concerning the livequery error message, I do not think that it is related to the issue in this thread. The “offending” code is found in widget-groups.js. I’m guessing that if you remove the Groups widget from your theme, that error will go away.
BP uses version 1.0.2 of the Live Query module for JQuery. Maybe if BP upgraded to v1.0.3, which may then also require updating JQuery to v1.2.x, this error may go away.
But, I don’t think it is of concern for your particular issue. Try removing the Groups widget and see if it disappears.

This thread has not had any activity in more than 3 months. Since then, the BuddyPress codebase has changed considerably, so the solutions presented here may be out of date.

The plugin DJPaul linked to alters the behavior of WPMU’s registration process which is controlled by wp-signup.php.
When using BuddyPress, you have a choice to either use WPMU’s registration script or the alternate one found in the home theme–register.php. More information in this thread

You are correct. Andy has themed the BuddyPress forum theme to look just like the rest of BP.org.
At this time, he does not plan on releasing this theme. He wants to keep the bp.org brand distinctive. Imagine if many of the new BP installs used this theme. It might confuse people when coming to BP.org. BP.org needs to maintain a unique identity. It is, after all, the place where everyone else comes for guidance.
Of course, everyone is free to style their own theme.

Whereas if you’re just using IE it could be a security feature of that browser, I’m guessing this is a nonce security issue. If you get the same message when using Firefox, then that would be a good indication.

You’ve provided a little detail about your setup, and more detail about your issue. However, there is more about your setup that could prove useful in providing you with assistance. Please see this thread and respond as appropriate:
In reply to: Profile Groups fonts not the sameIf an intentional design decision then it is a poor one!
This has nothing to do with BuddyPress. It has all to do with the design and styling of the theme you are using. Switch to the default BuddyPress themes (bphome and bpmember) and you will see this problem go away.
Talk with the person who designed your theme.
In reply to: Change Member ThemeI have read that I should follow the “BuddyPress” option under “Site Admin” menu, in order to change the member theme.
That is outdated information. If you are using BuddyPress 1.0 and have the bpmember folder installed in /wp-content/bp-themes/, then what I described is correct.
Log in to WPMU’s backend as site admin, then go to “BuddyPress > General Settings > Select theme to use for BuddyPress generated pages”. After selecting a member theme, make sure you hit the “Save Settings” button.

At this time, BuddyPress only works with WordPress Multiuser (WPMU) version 2.7.1. You will have to install it yourself, which is really the only way that it should be done. It is never wise to use a one-button install service to install complex software platforms.
Now, whether your hosting plan will be of sufficient horsepower to successfully run WPMU is a different issue. For this issue you can search the WPMU forums.

The buddybar was displaying fine before I upgraded from my .9 build. Now with 1.0 rc2 I’m experiencing an unusual phenomenon
Currently, it is recommended that you stick with bbPress 1.0-alpha-6. See this thread.
This could be a bug with bbPress 1.0-RC-2. I suggest starting a thread on the bbPress forum for this issue if one is not already started.
In reply to: No 404, Just Showswhy it keeps annoying me to put widgets to my blog?
Yes, this is standard operating procedure based on the way the bphome theme is coded. If you decide to design your own custom home theme, look at the home.php file in the bphome theme folder. You’ll see how this is done.
the little alert box for it is going behind my text for the blog (I think this could have to do with the “menu bar full width” code, discussed in another thread).
That is probably the case. You’d have to look at the CSS. You could specify a z-index to correct the issue if it is too bothersome.
In reply to: subfolder cannot create for avatar uploadYou’ve mentioned that you set the permissions on blogs.dir to 777. Also check to make sure that the user & the group for that directory is not root:root but instead is the same as that of the webserver.
In reply to: No 404, Just ShowsPierce2-
Yes, that is true. A bogus url should trigger the 404.php file in your theme directory.
I think jjj is correct in thinking that this has something to do with the subdirectory install.
From the link that you PMed me, it appears that for your production site, you will be doing a root-level, and not a subdirectory WPMU install. If that is the case, this issue will not be relevant and is just taking time away from your development. You should be prototyping using the same directory structure in your dev environment as in your production environment.
In reply to: Help needed with launching site- Will payI’m closing this thread as it has to do with a request for services and not specific issues related to BuddyPress.
If you are interested in providing your services, the contact information is in the OP’s thread.
Please remember, if you need help implementing a WPMU+BuddyPress site or have development services to offer, you should post on the BuddyPress Job Board or directly PM a member.
In reply to: using wp theme in buddypressAdding to what John is saying, you should visit the Custom BuddyPress Loops codex page as well.
