You’re right; a plugin would be better.
In reply to: How to change email notificationsHi all,
The code is located in wp-includes/wpmu-functions.php (it is a big file)
A few caveats:
1) There is text for the user signup email and for the blog signup email (blog signup email is also in the admin panel)
2) There is text for a bunch of other emails, alerts and notices. All over the place
3) The text is located in some squirrely locations, so move your cursor slowly (I missed some of the phrases a few times)
4) Keep a log of what you change, because wpmu-functions.php will change with WPMU upgrades.
5) You probably already know to avoid apostrophes and other symbols–depending on which ones you use, errors show up. I just avoided contractions.
Hope this helps.
In reply to: bp-fbconnect error messageThanks for your help; you were right.
Safe_mode is enabled. For allow_url_fopen and open_basedir, I have to tell my webhost the following:
1) path or filename for the script that needs the connection – do you know which script this is?
2) ip address and port that it needs to connect to – I have no idea what this is–Facebook?
Much obliged.
In reply to: Moving the BP login form, etc.I decided to move it to the buddy bar instead.
Does anyone know how to get the buddybar included?
In reply to: bp-fbconnect error messageNo, I’m only using one FB plugin. Really frustrating!
In reply to: BP-fbconnect – Invalid Argument – facebook settingsThat “mysite.com” should be replaced with the name of your site. I think in your FB application settings editor, be sure to type your domain name.
In reply to: fyi: WP-reCAPTCHA works fine with BuddyPressI’m using it with WPMU 2.7.1/BuddyPress 1.0. Here’s where I have the plugin files located:
wp-captcha.php and wp-captcha.tff – in wp-content
wpmu-signup-captcha.php – in wp-content/mu-plugins
Works beautifully for me.
When I added that code, I received this error message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_search_form() in mysite/forums/bb-templates/bbpress-forum/header.php on line 59
It looks like bbPress is not finding the Buddypress stuff
I make my changes in bp-member.
Only other thing I can think of is that you should go into the admin panel and check under Buddypress (almost at the bottom of the page). In the general area, you can select a theme for members. Select one, submit it and see what happens.
In reply to: Page plugin? In reply to: Howto upgrade WPMU with BP runningThis might be the long version, but
1. When I needed to upgrade, I backed up my database and copied all the buddypress files into another file called “bosox” (just make up a name). I think you may need to copy your avatars and other stuff into your new install from the old one, so don’t delete the old Buddypress files for awhile!
2. Then I added the Buddypress files to their new locations and activated it. If you have heavy customization to CSS, you’ll need to re-do the changes (reference your old CSS files).
3. You’ll also need to:
– select and activate themes
– move all your plugins to the new plugin location (it changes in 1.0 from your version)
– copy avatar files into the new location (I had to do this, but not everyone did)
Those are the basics. All the best to you!
I usually update the themes/bphome (for the basic site) and wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember (which controls the member and directory pages). I update them separately because I sometimes want certain customizations with the member profiles and not for the main part of the site.
All the best to you!
In reply to: Groups widgetOkay. So I found it in bp-groups.
This is a clear signal that I need a break.
Aargh!
In reply to: Buddypress headerOkay, never mind. I added the height attribute myself and it worked! I had just assumed it was already there.
In reply to: The theme for this siteGood idea, Andy. The theme on this site is smoking!
Think I’ll try my hand at “skeletar”
That happened to me up to RC-2; I had to rename the buddypress-member directory as buddypress-home (and kept it in bp-themes) and it worked perfectly.
It appears that this has been fixed in 1.0, which I am testing right now.
In reply to: bbPress Force Login for BuddypressNever mind. I just named it bb-force-login.php and put it in the bb-plugins directory. Works like a charm!
In reply to: Upgrading from RC-1 to RC-2 or 1.0 ReleaseYeah, I’m a little confused also. Are there major differences between RC2 and 1.0?
In reply to: BP-FBConnect PluginAll set now! My server didn’t have SimpleXML enabled–now it’s running and working. I’m getting a few other errors, but I’ll have a look through this thread again and should be able to get them resolved also.
Thanks.
In reply to: Error message on BP-FB connectThanks, guys!! I ran the test and only saw XML, so I checked with my hosting provider and they activated SimpleXML for me.
Now the BP-FB plugin works!! I am still getting a few other errors, but it’s functioning.
Thanks again.
In reply to: Error message on BP-FB connectThanks, Toly. Is there anything in particular that I should name the script? And how do I run it?
In reply to: Error message on BP-FB connectThanks, DJ Paul. I did post it there also; haven’t heard anything yet.
In reply to: After upgrade, activity feed no longer accurateNot sure what to do with this.
Thanks for your help, you guys!
