    Julient, is there another admin account you can try? My guess is a plugin somewhere, so it’s a matter of deactivating plugins one by one to find which isn’t working.

    Taken care of with patch for potential fix.

    Changing these settings will also not go back and change any existing avatars, so it’s best to set this one time and forget about it (until you update later.)

    I recommend copy and pasting those define’s into a bp-custom.php file so that way BuddyPress upgrades won’t reset those values for you.

    In addition to the advice above, this is also a question best suited for the WPMU forums.

    Sometimes I forget about that too. What he said. :)

    As of WPMU 2.8.1 this will work, but with 2.7.1 if you changed an email address, it didn’t get changed in wp_signups, so even if you changed the email address, you still could not reuse the original one you used to sign up. Be careful right now using 2.8.1 as there are several ways that it’s not playing friendly with BuddyPress.

    A user-switching plugin is probably the easiest and safest bet, in my opinion.

    There’s a few ways to do this, and it depends on where you are in the site and what information you might already have available, and if you want the current user, or a user in a loop of some kind.

    If by username you mean their user_login name, sometimes you can just do…

    bp_core_get_username($user_id);

    …where $user_id is the ID of the user you’re looking for.

    Let me know if this doesn’t work in your situation?

    If each developer is running their own version of WPMU locally and then committing changes to a central repository, then there really isn’t any other way I know of.

    If you’re doing it as often as you say, I bet you can trim that 8 hours down pretty substantially. I’ve got it down to about an hour or so, fully integrated with bbPress, subversion, using Netbeans as my IDE in a XP or Vista environment.

    This is most likely a bug. Log it in the trac for us now if you would be so kind. If I remember correctly, this used to work just fine.

    There are plugins to allow easy user switching, and I think that would be your safest bet. This way they can just create users in the admin area with new email addresses, and switch to being that user without logging in or out.

    Because WordPress uses email addresses for verification and authentication purposes, it can’t really have the same email address multiple times safely.

    WPMU 2.8.1 and BuddyPress 1.0.3 have a few issues at the moment. Would be best to use WPMU 2.7.1, or wait until 1.0.4 is released.

    If you need to use 2.8.1, then as much as I usually never like to say so, you might be better off using the latest trunk version. I’ve been running it for a few days now fully integrated with no issues that are obvious or apparent.

    My recommending to use the trunk always comes with the assortment of warnings that it might be broken in some places or unfinished in others, so be careful of that too. Trunk versions aren’t really meant for public use, but it seems everyone is becoming more comfortable doing it recently.

    Also, for group forums to work, your hosting package must allow for XMLRPC, as well as having them both turned on in each *press platform. More than likely something is out of alignment somewhere and even though you swear it’s not, it really is. :)

    Not sure Nicholaszen. Since there’s a lot of activity going on with BuddyPress patches and MU changes, I’m going to hold off chasing any ghosts on this plugin until the next stable versions come out.

    I’m keeping an eye on this daily so I’m still supporting it, but there won’t be a new version until the next versions of MU and BP come out, unless any major flaws or bugs are uncovered.

    It is my experience that using deep integration can cause some issues with duplicate jQuery inclusions, but this is usually only on the bbPress side, not on the BuddyPress side.

    WordPress 2.8.1 uses a new version of jQuery. I’ve ran into this as an issue mostly when there is either a JS error, or a conflict of some kind in the files. Can you verify for me that the jQuery file itself is being included correctly in the head area when viewing the directory page?

    Andy when submitting patches, is it easier for you if we work off of the trunk version, or the 1.0.3 tagged version?

    Those of you getting white screens without any ability to see why, need to check your server error logs to figure out what’s killing it. 9 times out of 10 it’s probably an out of memory on the server side of things, as php probably isn’t getting enough memory allocated to it.

    @johnjamesjacoby

    Are there any javascript errors in your page? Are you using deep integration of bbPress 1.0.1 by chance?

    Nicholaszen, are you using a 0.9x version of bbPress? If so, this plugin will not work for you.

    In the 1.0.1 version of bbPress, that function is in functions.bb-users.php. I haven’t tried this with 1.0.3 yet myself, but I’ll be sure to give it a spin tomorrow.

    That would disallow the buddybar in the admin area, which sort-of goes against what the point of this plugin is in a way.

    There are lots of variations of how this could work though, and that is certainly one of them. Thanks for helping out!

    @johnjamesjacoby

    Because BuddyPress runs as a site-wide plugin, as it sits today you’re stuck with one site-wide member theme. This could be manually side-stepped pretty easily though, by creating a function in your functions.php file to hook into the function used to gather the active member theme, you could theoretically sneak your own directory path in there on a per theme basis.

    Haven’t tried this idea myself, and it might not be that simple in reality.

    Good work Andy. I’ve got some great ideas for this, now I just need more time in the day to make them. Anyway you can help slow down the rotation of the Earth for me to have, oh, I dunno… 40 hour days?

    @argyris, nope, haven’t even checked it out yet and probably won’t for a few days.

    My guess is that WordPress is overriding the language setting for bbPress in a way it doesn’t understand. Lots of times the filters don’t jive 100%, so I’ll need to see which setting gets flushed and rehook it.

    Probably not a big deal, just in the middle of two big projects this week. :/

    Regarding the capabilities issue. please refer to this fix from donncha. It is an official changeset to WPMU, so using this method will be future safe and not involve editing the WordPress core files going forward.

    Thanks donncha for listening. :)

    @johnjamesjacoby

    There are two plugins that you’ll need to sync up the cookies; one of them is included with BuddyPress under bp-forums/bbpress-plugins/, this one gets copied into your bbPress/my-plugins/ folder. The other you will want to download from the WordPress plugins repository (wordpress.org/extend/) and install and activate in your WordPress admin.

    Once you have each plugin installed, one for each platform, configure them and follow the directions for each one, and then report back. :)

    When do you get this error message? Like, what exactly are you trying to do when this happens? I’m not really sure what this could possibly be, other than maybe a PHP memory limit error? Or maybe the comment.php file is corrupt?

    Are you using deep integration by chance?
