Brianbrey, that would be awesome. However, I don’t think jobberbase has any kind of user account system (they just retain the email addresses tempporarily while the job post is active). It works much like craigslist where a link is provided that can be used to go back and edit job posts. I know that a lot of jobberbase users are asking for proper user profiles.

I would just be happy to find a way to restrict job posts to registered users of my buddypress community.

That seems relatively easy. Ill try it once I complete customizations of other parts of my website. Would I use the same code in member blog templates to bring up the buddy bar there or would that not work? I use subdomains for member blogs.

    Plrk,

Thanks for the suggestion. Ill try out bp-events (probably will wait for ver 0.58 which looks like its going to be released soon)

I just came across the customizing labels tutorial and have some questions (newbie alert!). 1) How do I run the command to make the mo file? Currently I access the server through FileZilla.

    2) Is the bp-custom.php file something that I download or create?

    3) The walkthrough says ‘This example uses mysite as the sample language definition; you’ll need to replace it with your own custom definition.’ What would be my custom definition? I am running BP 1.0 with default everything (hardly any changes yet). Do I need to worry about this or just use ‘mysite’?

I basically want to change the main blog ‘blog’ to news including the slugs and maybe the ‘blogs’ to ‘member blogs’

    Thanks!

    Thanks.

I am looking for very basic functionality. Since there are other larger communities that relate to the one I want to create, I would like to aggregate the events they organize in a prominent location on my buddypress install. Can anyone suggest a way to do this?

Basically I need a way for me or other users to be able to submit an event with name, date, location and other details. A way to add events through RSS would also be great

Andrea, I am using the blog defaults plugin but I don’t see the option to set a default user theme. Can you point me to a resource? Thanks.

    John,

Just checked out delsolownersclub.com. Really like the way all parts of the website are well integrated (including the forum)

    Jeff,

I did what you suggested and cleared the error log. However, the registration problem is not creating any error in the error log.

After some testing I realized that if I create a user with a @gmail address, the registration verification email gets delivered without any problems. However if I register using an email on another one of my domains (however the emails are still hosted on google apps), I don’t get the activation email. I checked the spam folders but its not their either.

    Please help.

David, I guess pasting the JS code would work for the BP member theme (can anyone recommend where file and location to add the code for the default theme that comes with BP?) to track statistics for the community portion of the website.

What would we do to track statistics per user blog?

Jeff, That sounds like a good idea. I am still having the registration email not reaching problem for some activations. Can I just backup and remove all old records by editing the error log or would this break something?

    Hey Jeff,

No code changes, and it actually does not give me any issues while adding, editing or removing widgets. Its more an annoyance than anything else.

@Jeff, thanks for the tip. Maybe we can start a forum section listing all the plugins which have been tested by members to work without issues with BuddyPress.

@Rschilt, thanks for the info about plugin commander. I am trying it out right now. Quick question about it: After I first install plugin commander, it shows me Buddypress as the only plugin and it shows autoactivate as no. Should this be active for all members or deactivated?

I would assume activated (so that buddypress can work for everyone) but I am not sure it refers to member blogs or the community in general.

Has anyone tried installing buddypress and setting up wildcard subdomains using hostgator but having godaddy as the DNS provider?

How would this be done? Im pretty new at this. Have no idea what apache is :)

Hey, Actually I did find it after I posted the last message. Thanks. All this time, I thought the member theme was for individual blogs.

@Rschilt, thanks. Did you try the regular version of All in one SEO or was it another meant for WPMU?

    @kunal17

Maybe, naming the member themes into ‘member profile theme ‘and the other into ‘blogs theme’ profile themes would make things clear.

Hey, I changed the Allow new registrations options to another one and then switched back and now it seems to be working. I just tried to register a new user and the activation link came back fine. Thanks for your help guys. If the problems creeps up again Ill let you know.

I do have another question about the allow new registrations options over here https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2525

P.S. I did check the error log for the past couple of days for any reference to this error and didnt see anything. Infact, there don’t seem to be any errors with relation to the domain I am hosting BP on at all

Had marked this as not a support question by mistake. I still have the above problem.

Kitwit, that worked thanks. However, I am still confused about where the bpmember theme is used and where the bphome theme is used. Right now, I just changed the base.css files for both themes.

    @kunal17

Thanks Kitwit, Ill try this out. I guess you have to change this for both the member and home theme?

Ok, I did find an error_log file in my base domain’s directory. I am trying to parse through that but its been tracking for weeks and I have 5 running addon domains so a lot of info. I will try to find anything relavent to the buddypress domain and post it here.

Thanks John James Jacoby. Unfortunately, I need some more help with the logs :(. I am hosting on hostgator. Can you tell me where to expect the log file to be and what it might be called?

WPMU is installed in the base directory of the add on domain. At this level I see all the main WPMU directories such as WP-admin, WP-Content and files like index.php and .htaaccess etc.

Please let me know if you need any other information to guess where the log file may be.

Thats true, however my new logo image needs to be larger. What would I need to change to avoid clipping the new image? Thanks.
