    I didn’t know some of those groups exist. I better go looking for them!

    The forum index for this site could be arranged in a more traditional forum listing – by looping through each group and sorting the latest topics. This was done on http://www.thechembook.com/tutoring so students can see the topics from each group.

    Others will be more specific with you but here is an important link.

    @modemlooper “Could slow down your site if you do live updating for every member.” — Yes. this would depend on the implementation. For example, if the BuddyPress Activity Stream Ajax Notifier was reworked to refresh the page rather than notify then the activity stream would “feel as a real-time” activity.

    After tinkering more on a local XAMPP install, adding the code and tag `

    ` leads to weird behavior. Several different places were tried but the reload usually ended up not showing past activity.

    Problem solved – it was a WP version issue. I reinstalled WP 3.0 and updated to 3.01 – and this worked. The reply button in the first position now works.

    @paulhastings0 it’s a mixture of BP-Album Media, a nightly build, but I did not change the database from a previous installation. Next, some code was copy/pasted, modified to show the photos and videos along with a widget for login/logout differences.

    `

    <?php
    global $bp, $featured_template;

    // STEP 1: Run the default query. It will use the options set in the admin back end.
    bp_album_featured_query_items();

    $row_count = 0;

    // STEP 2: Test if items were found. If so, open the CSS block.
    if ( bp_album_featured_has_items() ) : ?>

    <?php
    // STEP 3: Iterate through the items the query has found, printing each one out.
    while ( bp_album_featured_has_items() ) : bp_album_featured_the_item(); ?>

    <?php

    $row_count++;

    if($row_count == (int)$bp->bpa->options){
    echo ‘

    ‘;
    $row_count = 0;
    }

    endwhile;

    // STEP 4: Close the CSS block. ?>

    <a href="” class=”media-image”>

    <?php

    endif;

    ?>

    <form name="login-form" id="sidebar-login-form" class="standard-form" action="” method=”post”>

    <input type="text" name="log" id="sidebar-user-login" class="input" value="” />

    <input type="submit" name="wp-submit" id="sidebar-wp-submit" value="” tabindex=”100″ />

    @paulhastings0 – Also – thank you!

    Code changed to none since that is probably more appropriate than using 0px.

    Personal Note: One of these days this site is going to look like something else besides a default theme with color changes. Guess that means the header.php file needs to be changed more … hehe

    @modemlooper – thank you!

    Found this in the default.css using firebug.

    `div#container {
    border-right:1px solid #E0E0E0;
    border-bottom:1px solid #E0E0E0;
    }`

    Changed to 0px – and all is well :)

    Oh – and moved that wave.png into the footer.php and footer-wiki.php – it looks nicer.

    @lph2005

    Interesting – because the code above is the only present. Where would the iframe come from?

    header.php (no ad script)
    single.php (no ad script)
    footer.php (no ad script)
    page.php has ad code with “ wrapped around it and removal still shows on a 404.
    sidebar.php has code but removed to test and still loads that iframe….

    Any other places to look?

    Man! Was that code WAY off!

    This code works:

    `div#bp_community_stats_widget-3 ul li span {
    color: #4BB3DD;
    font-size: 250%;
    font-weight: bold;
    }`

    Dang – I figured out why w3 total cache didn’t load wp pages properly – Whew! It works now :)

    Now to figure out the optimum page loads.

    Anyway – if someone knows about flush then please let me know.

    The simplest might be to use an RSS feed from your phpbb forum and use the external BP external activity plugin …

    You’ll want to check a recent thread in the thesis forum. Someone posted the steps to get thesis and BP to work together. The files requiring editing are listed as well as the specific content to replace.

    Wow. The site is impressive. Congratulations.

    Go to /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page then click on a page, look on the right side to see how the page attributes are set. There should be a pull down of the different templates.

    Are you using the default theme, child-theme, or something else?

    Is this the section (line 309+)? Sorry – I’ve never bothered to look at the JavaScript for BP.

    ` /* Activity comment posting */

    var form = target.parent().parent();
    var form_parent = form.parent();

    if ( ‘activity-comments’ !== form_parent.attr(‘class’) ) {
    var tmp_id = form_parent.attr(‘id’).split(‘-‘);
    var comment_id = tmp_id[1];

    var comment_id = form_id[2];

        Thank you. I copied the default theme _inc files into the child theme and now the activity stream is posting forum topics three times :)

        Guess I’ll delete the _inc and files – to see if things return – and pick through the JavaScript from there.

        I’m not familiar with deep integration of bbpress with BP but I just wanted to make sure you’ve looked over the troubleshooting document:

        https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/wordpress-and-bbpress-integration-101

        Also, could you post all of the versions you are using WP, BP, and BBPress – that might help get some ideas flowing for you.

        Now that there are several hundred more students registered, feedback has prompted a few more “tiny” updates to the theme:

        Number 1
        The members area has been simplified. No sidebar shows and the member-header has been widgitized. The simplification helps with the slow performance of the site.

        Number 2
        The tutoring area is now sorted by groups, alphabetically. The latest five posts show and buttons are available for creating a new topic in that particular forum.

        Number 3
        Pagination is now available in the activity stream. Rather than rely on the ajax “load more” – pages are available.

        Number 4
        Registration page changed to a single page, without sidebars. This stops the “cramped” feeling during registration.

        Number 5
        Microsoft Translator added to the footer. EL students are now able to change the page to load in their native language.

        Still waiting for the BP Media to be out of nightly builds so that the latest photos become available site wide.

        I’m still debating about a “faster” loading /start page. While the page provides explanations, too many kids are not reading the information. It’s probably a waste of bandwidth. But the jury is out on that one …
