There’s no plugin in WP repo that does precisely what you want. You’d either have to create it or hire a developer to do so.

bp_loggedin_user_domain() used with if (is_user_logged_in())
like it’s done in bp-default theme’s sidebar.php

Checked in FF 17 and IE 9, I was able to click Join Group and become a member via Group Directory or in the individual Group’s page

No deletion of theme folders for any BP upgrade. Have you checked if the theme folders have indeed been deleted in wp-content/themes/ via FTP/FileManager/etc?

But are you suggesting that after using BP Template Pack once it is a good idea to turn it off and then re-up everything via FTP?
