@mercime I am using WP-Prosper Premium theme. My default page layout is with a sidebar wide on right and sidebar narrow on left. I usually like to use the Content, Sidebar Wide right layout most of the time. But no matter what when I put the widgets in place on the sidebar, and then make sure they are set for those pages, it still doesn’t show up.

@bphelp I think you aren’t giving the developers enough credit. Version releases have been accelerating
1.2 to 1.5 took 20 months
1.5 to 1.6 took 11 months
1.6 to 1.7 took 8 months

unfortunately it’s not working, I created a clone of the site, moved the site to a new server, switched off all plugins and used twenty twelve theme, I’m logged in at the site here:

Hi @mercime, I tried your suggestion last night – I switched to twentytwelve, turned off all the plugins and it didn’t work as I expected. When I requested membership, it asked me to add a comment, rather than just returning the button disabled with “request sent”.

I also tried bp-default but that made no difference either.

@mercime I deactivated the BuddyPress plugin and it worked fine with the WordPress default registration page (the one that looks like the login page). I’m looking for the whole process to detect if it’s looking for some cookie or something that the system is handing the client when logging in… Any ideas?

@mercime I made my own theme. I also tried using the page.php from the twentytwelve theme but that didn’t work either even though if I activate the twentytwelve theme everything is fine.

@mercime. I’ve just discovered that although I deactivated the User Role editor, people are still not able to join the private group, even though I’ve successfully done a test with a new testing member.

Screenshot would help us see your issue. As @mercime suggested, you really need to read the codex in the link he supplied. It is straightforward and well documented there.
