@tgg brand new install on WP 3.4.1 and BP 1.5.7? Is BP installed in main site or subsite? Windows or LInux hosting? Error log? Have you tried deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress and see if issue is resolved?
@alexcurrie123 Yes, that’s the code of permalink.php. I believe that you only needed to create two files to fix alignment of the BP template files based on the HTML structure of your theme.
In this case, to make it easy for you, open up that permalink page and make the following revisions:
A. Beneath “ and before `
`, add this:`
`B. In the line just above “ add this:
``
Save file.
P.S. My username is not based on the Mercy Me band
Cheers. In reply to: Alignment issues – CelebrityPress ThemeB. COPY your theme’s sidebar-single.php file (that’s the file called from your page.php file) and Save As > sidebar-buddypress.php
Open up the blank sidebar-buddypress.php file and at the very TOP of the file, above all code add this:
``
Save file.
C. Upload header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to your theme folder in server wp-content/themes/celebritypress/ in the same directory where your regular header.php and sidebar.php files are
D. Final note: Copy the style modifications for some BP elements https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste those at the bottom of your theme’s stylesheet, then adjust to taste.
In reply to: Alignment issues – CelebrityPress Theme@blixus Confirmed that based on the HTML structure of your theme, you will be only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to make the BP templates compatible with your theme.
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your celebritypress theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your celebritypress theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. COPY your theme’s header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the BOTTOM of the file, below other code contained within, add this:
``Save file.
@maryefern strange situation, only encountered this way back BP 1.0. :
1. Check MySQL version. WP requires MySQL version 5.0 or greater. If you cannot find the version, ask your webhost.
2. If you have version 5.0 or greater, download zip files of WordPress and BuddyPress, then manually re-upload (via FTP/File Manager) WP and BP files to server in respective directories
In reply to: Alignment issues – CelebrityPress Theme@blixus let’s work on the alignment first. Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all code, paste into pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s page.php, index.php, sidebar.php and footer.php
In reply to: The final hurdle. The sidebar…dun dun dunnnnnnnn== however, for the bbpress forums I clicked a drop down menu in setting to make it use bbpress 2011 theme ==
Change it to the other option and see if issue is corrected.
@maryefern so something’s blocking the creation of the bb tables.
– Delete bb-config.php,
– change to bp-default theme,
– deactivate ALL plugins except BuddyPPress,
– go to BuddyPress > Forums
– reinstall Group Forums
– check if bb tables are created in DB@andrea_r thank you. At the time I answered in my second post, @maryefern ‘s site had the Eleven40 theme and many plugins activated in the site as it is right now, hence reference to Genesis plugin and forums.
1. check if the seven xx_bb_xx tables for the group forums were created in your database when you installed Group Forums, as seen here
2. if the tables are there, then change to bp-default theme and deactivate ALL plugins except BuddyPress to check if issue is resolved.
@alexcurrie123 You’ll find the template at bp-default or your theme’s /members/single/activity/permalink.php
In reply to: Sidebar in Footer in Wootheme@sparklyscotty no problem. Please post any issue you may encounter re fixing alignment on that thread.
In reply to: Alignment and deletion1. If you don’t like the themes available for BP, then you don’t have to diss them here.
2. “Search at the bottom that is not aligning and I would like to delete it entirely”
– I see “Play fetch …” text and “Switch to Mobile” link, which could have been inserted by a mobile plugin.3. Something went awry with your fixing alignment of the BP template files, I checked your Members Directory page and code is showing up instead of content.
In reply to: Empty blank line below admin bar at backend@miguelcortereal that issue is fixed in BP 1.6 which will be coming out sometime soon.
In reply to: BBPress customization of registration processThe title of your post is “BBPress customization of registration process”, so do post at https://bbpress.org/forums/
In reply to: [Resolved] Page structure redirect to the page@jishi and custom post types looks like the way to go for your project. BP is not involved at this juncture so at this point I suggest that you post this at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting and do include the information you just posted so all’s clear with the volunteers.
In reply to: Alignment issues – CelebrityPress Theme== I am aware that I should copy and rename the former 3 pages in header-buddypress.php etc and match these with the following two theme pages: ==
@blixus Initial scan of the codes posted does support creating only two files to align structure rather than revising 16 files for your theme. What’s the name of your theme? Did you check if it was already “template-packed” per list near the bottom of this page? -> https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
In reply to: [Resolved] Page structure redirect to the page== I’d like to develop a directory, which uses my site category structure, ==
@jishi this is more of a WordPress issue rather than a BP one. Create a Page Template and replace the_content with wp_list_categories or just search for and use one of the list categories plugin to generate what you want in the Page https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/categories
In reply to: Duplicate Bp-GroupsYou can start off with this plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-group-reviews/ and build the few different tabs on your own or hire a developer to do so.
@raminjan install the Firebug add-on for Firefox, right-click on the element you want to change, then add the changes to your stylesheet.
The current styles for the updated message
div#message.updated { clear: both; } div#message.updated p { background-color: #8FF57A; border-color: #80CF70; color: #1A6A00; } div#message p { background-color: #F4F4F4; border: 1px solid #DDDDDD; color: #555555; font-size: 14px; margin: 20px; }So use same selectors and change the property/value as you want it acoordingly in your theme’s stylesheet.
== I am using the Eleven40 (Genesis) theme by Studiopress. ==
OK, Maybe the reason why group forums aren’t working for you is because Genesis has own premium BP compatibility plugin which you should use with Genesis themes and not BP Template Pack, if I recall well. Have you posted your group forum issues at StudyioPress forums?
@crispinr not only should you read content, but also the comments where @imath had recommended changes which @sbrajesh incorporated and then released as a plugin at https://github.com/sbrajesh/bp-searchable-activity
[click on the ZIP link on that page to download to your computer, just in case it’s your first time at github.com ]== I am using my own custom theme, along with BuddyPress Template Pack plugin. ==
Deactivate BP Template Pack plugin and change to bp-default theme. Is issue resolved? What WP theme were you using?
In reply to: Compatibility w/ WordPress 3.4.1 (display problems)That’s a strange issue. Deactivate all plugins, change to Twenty Eleven then delete the BuddyPress plugin either via Delete link in Plugins Installed page or via FTP/File Manager. Then download and install BuddyPress plugin again then check if issue is resolved.
In reply to: BuddyPress Multi Network@ultimateuser userbase is separate by default but super admin and blog admins can invite users from other blogs and last time I checked it out, there’s a function posted in BuddyDev forums where you can have the same userbase across the network if you want it that way, OR allow the users to choose which subsite/s they want to join by using http://buddydev.com/buddypress/introducing-join-blog-widget-for-wordpress-multisite/
@sp12 a plugin can be as simple as 3 lines of code which you can add in your theme’s functions.php file to one as sophisticated as the BuddyPress plugin.
For a multisite installation, it doesn’t make sense to just add it to your theme’s functions.php unless the main site and all user blogs are using the same theme/child themes.
In your case,
1. copy the code Otto posted at stackexchange
2. open a text editor
3. paste the code
4. save file as > alphabetsites.php
5. create a new folder via FTP/file manager/etc. named mu-plugins inside wp-content/ folder
6. upload alphabetsites.php tol mu-plugins folder
