In reply to: How To: BuddyPress Group Sidebars
@gswaim as I see it, the theme dev intentionally made the BP pages full-width.
Initial scan shows that you’d have to revise around 16 BP template files within 6 BP folders included in your supermassive theme (I assume they are bec. dev said it was BP-ready) to change the HTML markup and add style classes as well as sidebar to the BP pages. Not sure whether you’d have to pay the theme dev to provide the revised pages or if he/she would provide revised template files for free.
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.6 RC1Thank you @boonebgorges First tests looking good except for a couple of my custom bp-default child themes

Have to update BP Codex on new Activity Stream panel, group/sitewide forums, etc
In reply to: Broken Search?@tomcoady we are aware of the search issue on this site. I suggest you use Google in the meantime with “buddypress.org keywords or phrases” as this site’s been indexed pretty well
In reply to: unwanted popup face on site@websitevala start off with hardening your WP installation before activating BuddyPress https://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress
In reply to: [Resolved] problem in replyingJust to be clear, what precisely can you not “reply” to? Activity stream updates/comments/etc or BP Group Forum posts or bbPress Sitewide forum posts or blog posts comments?
@timetraveler – add the following at the bottom of your stylesheet.
`ul#activity-stream div.activity-meta {
clear: left;
margin-bottom: 15px;
position: static;
}.activity-list li.mini .activity-content {
margin-right: 25px !important;
}`In reply to: Atahualpa theme and BuddyPress installationWe “template-packed” Atahualpa i.e., install BP template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility. Instructions for Step 3 are found in following link https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/footer-is-in-left-column-on-buddypress-pages/ — though you should read through the end of the topic as you might want to reconsider using Atahualpa
In reply to: Log In/ Log Out Links@pantone see how it’s done in sidebar.php of bp-default theme
In reply to: How to see your OWN forum topics@synaptic It is customized for BuddyPress.org.
@shashankism the best person to help you is that plugin’s developer. You could ask the plugin developer to make it compatible with BuddyPress or post at dev’s forums http://betterwp.net/community/
In reply to: [Resolved] problem in replying@mahdiar check in Appearance > BP Compatibility and make sure that BP.css and JS are enabled which means that you should not check to disable either CSS or JS
Add Firebug plugin if you’re using Firefox then right>click to “inspect Element”, and you’ll find out what style is making the button 100% width. If you use Google Chrome, just proceed to right click and “inspect element”.
In reply to: Activate And Register Tabs Not VisibleSo you’re using bp-default theme. If you went through the Installation Wizard after activating BuddyPress, the Register and Activate pages (along with other BP pages) would have been auto-created, and the uri would have been yoursite.com/register if WP/BP are installed in main domain.
If you associate the Register and Activate with pages you’ve previously created e.g. “Join Us” and “Activate Now”, then your url’s would be yoursite.com/join-us/ and yousite.com/activate-now respectively.
When you say the new pages are invisible, do you mean you get a blank white page in browser?
In reply to: How To add ‘Community’ dropdown in a menuWP themes which are updated to latest WP versions like Twenty Ten and Twenty Eleven plus BuddyPress’ own bp-default theme have custom menu functions you’ll find in Appearance > Menus.
Just create a link named “Community” and add whatever links you want under it.
e.g. for bp-default theme or its child theme https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/how-to-set-up-your-main-site-navigation-using-the-built-in-wordpress-menus/In reply to: Activate And Register Tabs Not Visible@hornet1968 if you’re using a WP theme, you also need to install/activate the BP Template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP compatibility process. We have a list of “template-packed” WP theme near the bottom of this page https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
In reply to: Take Freshness off the forum directory@b1gft there are a couple of simple ways to go about deleting “freshness” from group forums
1. Simplest of the rest -> Just add the following at the bottom of your theme’s style.css file
`span.time-since { display: none !important; }`or 2. Copy over https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.6/bp-themes/bp-default/forums/forums-loop.php to your themes /forums folder, open it up and delete line #85
or 3. filter bp_the_topic_time_since_last_post in functions.php
In reply to: Buddypress plugin for uploading videos@venkateshmothe @raminjan there are two major BP album/gallery/media plugins which can handle video uploading to server or CDN
1. Free – BuddyPress Media beta version – http://code.google.com/p/buddypress-media/ not for live sites unless you are a developer yourself. Do read minimum requirements and other documentation
– Their stable version a.k.a BuddyPress Album is for images2. Premium – BP Gallery – upload images, videos, audio as well as embed videos from youtube, vimeo etc. – http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/
In reply to: Easel Theme – Buddypress Alignment problem@damler My instructions above should have fixed the “right sidebar dropping down”. What do you mean “as the central column expands”? Got to see it, site URL?
== Which CSS file must I edit, I don’t want to risk messing it up as it’s working great. ==
At the bottom of your easel theme’s style.css file.In reply to: Register Page Problem@lacemastarson basic troubleshooting -> deactivate Suffusion BP Pack, and change to bp-default theme. See if issue is corrected.
In reply to: how come no body help me?@raminjan know that we are all unpaid volunteers helping out here, living in different time zones and have lives outside of BP and WP.
You have created many number of topics, some of which I answered and other topics were answered by others. And private messaging is turned off because others have abused it already.
BuddyPress is an opensource software, i.e., free and we try to help out as many people as we can, not just one. And when I was still a student, I recall doing my own research (Google et al) when I didn’t know the answers. So be patient and stay cool.
== The button on the activity stream for “Joe Schmoe joined . . .” is obscured by buttons ==
@timetraveler As an online visitor, activity stream looks good for Joe joining a group. I will presume you mean the activity meta seen by logged-in users i.e., the Comment, Favorite and Delete buttons. If so, open up your theme’s stylesheet and add the following at the bottom.
`ul#activity-stream div.activity-meta {
clear: left;
margin-bottom: 15px;
}`If that doesn’t work, create a throw-away username and password and post it here. You can delete that account after the issue has been resolved.
In reply to: CPU OverloadPretty permalinks are required for BuddyPress sites.
Settings > Permalinks and choose option other than default permalink.In reply to: Register Problem@rehaugew I see you’re using the Mingle theme. I do not know whether that theme’s been updated for the latest and beta versions of BuddyPress. That being the case, you should change to bp-default theme, clear cache and check registration process there for BP 1.5.6. Are you using Mingle also in BP 1.6beta2 install? Then change to bp-default there as well. We have to ascertain what’s the real culprit.
@michaeljdornan best place to ask is at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/bp-multi-network wpmuguru does answer forum questions
Having said that, you can try this plugin which I know works with the other BP MultiNetwork plugin by sbrajesh http://buddydev.com/buddypress/introducing-join-blog-widget-for-wordpress-multisite/
In reply to: Register ProblemRe BP 1.5.6 re “nobody can register” -> do be more specific by listing the steps taken during registration to find out where the hiccup is.
Re BP 1.6 beta 2 re “missing uploaded avatar” -> were avatars working in your BP 1.5.6 installation? Where are you hosted? Is GD libary installed in your server?
