Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
…
` or `
..
` to `
// Titles Of Respective BP Page Templates //
`, just watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.
Save files.
@joaocarapinha what do you mean deploy the bettercodes framework? could you be more specific?
@nsbalgcom before proceeding with the alignment fix, re-upload TheGlobalSport theme files again in your server. Something went awry and the BP Members index.php file should not be at the root of your TheGlobalSport theme folder that you would paste it here as your theme’s index.php file.
Looks like we’d only need to create two files, upload to theme folder and you’re good to go.
Last thing though, where do you want your sidebar to be —
a) in default sidebar on the right
OR
b) sidebar on the left?
@artisantopia you’re welcome. marking this as resolved.
Code moved to http://wp.me/p1I84P-1l
@rafferjr Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you’d need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your admired theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
@dadvan Sorry, no public tool/script to do that. You would need to hire a developer to do the migration for you – http://jobs.wordpress.net/
WP/BP versions? What theme are you using? Different strokes for different themes
Is the theme you’re using updated for BP 1.5.5? Change to bp-default theme and issue should be corrected.
Go to Groups directory page. Beside the title “Groups Directory” click on the button link to create a group. Or just go to e.g. http://mysite.com/groups/create and you’re good to go.
What’s in your .htaccess file?
@nsbalgcom do not paste long blocks of code here. Let’s try that again.
Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all, paste in pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here.
Do the same for your theme’s (The Global News Theme, right?) index.php, page.php, sidebar.php, and footer.php
Also, something was wrong with your index.php file. It should be of your theme’s index.php and what I saw was the members/index.php file.
B. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php):
`
`
with the following for registration/register.php:
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});
`
Save files.
C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you’ve just revised to your server wp-content/themes/bloggingnews/
D. Check out the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten for reference especially with removing the bullets and bringing in the extended width of the BP elements. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and copy these over to your theme’s stylesheet and adjust as needed.
@jakeyboy1989 Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your bloggingnews theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
`
with
`
Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
` or `
` to `
`, just watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.
Save files.
Please post this at the plugin’s forums at WPorg site https://wordpress.org/tags/events-manager
@rafferjr You’d either need to revise 16 BP template files or just create 2 files and upload to server. It all depends on your HTML structure. Which Admire WP theme, URI to theme demo?
@cipes cool. thanks for the info about the conflict with Easy Mailchimp plugin.
@sarbanharble you’re welcome. Marking this as resolved.
== 8. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated? If so, which ones?
Yes, BuddyPress Multi Network, and a few others.==
Are you referring to the BuddyPress MultiNetwork plugin by Ron Rennick (aka wpmuguru) and not the BP MultiNetwork by Brajesh Singh (aka sbrajesh)? Either way, both plugins make each subsite (with own BP instance each) function separately from each other. In other words, using either plugin above, you’re not likely to see the blog posts from the subsite showing up in the main site’s activity stream at all precisely because of the separate instances. Having said that, you should contact the plugin author re best way to go about it.
Then this means that you have not completed Step 3 of the BP Compatibility process, i.e., fixing alignment and HTML structure of BP template files to use your own theme’s HTML structure. Check if your WP theme has already been “template-packed” in list near the end of the webpage linked to above.
== but if I wanted to change it to reflect something closer to the Frisco for Buddypress theme, but instead Red, Black and White to suit my website, how would I go about this? ==
@jakeyboy1989 You could do that by using Firebug, Firefox add-on, and/or copying the styles of the BP elements from Frisco onto your current WP theme’s stylesheet. I suggest you do that after you implement the template changes I will post here later.
So to continue with fixing the alignment of your BP template files, I need the content of your theme’s loop-page.php file in pastebin.com as well.
@famous sorry, there are no plugins that does what you want at this time. You’d need to create one OR hire a developer to do so OR wait till someone releases this kind of plugin at the WP plugin repo.
@starprintbrokers Go to BuddyPress > Pages and check if Registration is still associated with a Page. If it is,resave page. Don’t know why that’s acting up with Salutation theme. If you change to bp-default theme, does the register issue also happen there or is it resolved?
== user organize their friends similar to Facebook’s lists or Google+’s circles ==
No plugin available at this time.
== I need to fix up the alignment still (which is another problem) ==
@jakeyboy1989 Fixing alignment and making BP template files mesh in with your theme’s styles at https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/publicprivate-sites-cross-posting-content/?#post-128351
== Im still having some issues getting the template to work though. ==
@jakeyboy1989 I can see by the source code that you’re using Blogging News by Colorlabs. To help you fix alignment and some styles: open up your Blogging News theme’s header.php, Copy all, Paste in pastebin.com, Click submit, Post generated URI here. Do the same for: index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php.
