In reply to: BP Theme Compatibility – Step Three Help
In your situation where you mentioned you didn’t change the BP template files at all, you can’t hook into div#content as your theme already has it – the one which renders grey background between your content and sidebar. You could hook into `div.padder` and add this to your stylsheet:
`div.padder {
background-color: #fff;
padding: 20px;
}`BuddyPress generates body classes for each component/specific BP pages. Check out body classes generated https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.3.1/bp-core/bp-core-template.php#L1482

In reply to: “create account” link going to page not foundWP/BP versions? Is WP installed in domain root or in subdirectory named wordpress?
Are you using custom BP theme or is this also happening when you switch to bp-default theme?
In reply to: User’s profile fields show incorrect data.What theme are you using? Has it been updated for BP 1.5+ ? If you change to bp-default theme, is issue corrected?
== The instructions on the page you gave are misleading because the screenshots for configuration (Step 9) show a menu link to the forums, when in reality there is no such menu link. ==
@neosin It was not meant to mislead, I added the links in my custom menu including that of the sitewide forums before I even created the tutorial. Tutorial has been edited with instruction to add the link to the sitewide forums in custom menu. Thanks.
@dgodot You have to delete the bb-config.php file created when you installed group forums https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/4/#uninstall-forums.
== If you choose Sitewide Forum as your forum option, you do not get a menu link to your forum. ==
You create one in custom menu. What theme are you using?.== If I select to install Sitewide Forums for Buddypress, it presents a popup window to install bbPress as a plugin in wordpress. ==
That’s the way it’s done.Have you read this: https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
In reply to: 404 when replying to group wall postWhen you first installed BP, did you have any issue posting to activity stream? What changed between the time posting to stream worked and the time it stopped working or redirecting to 404? Deactivate the other plugins you added and go back to bp-default theme.
In reply to: Layout IssuesLooks like extra divs were added to some templates and/or some missing divs in others.
To see where you need to make adjustments, open up your theme’s header.php file, copy source, go to pastebin.com, paste copied source, click submit, and paste the generated URL here. Do the same for your theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php
What’s in your .htaccess file?
Customizations in one theme will not work in another theme, whether it be a WordPress theme or a BuddyPress one. It’s not chaos, it’s just a part of reality that anyone who has installed a basic WP site without BP would know.
If you’re going to develop a community with BP, you’d have to learn how to cope with the changes in code. Not to put you off BP or anything, but have you tried https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-symposium/ ?
In reply to: Problem with install – pagesYou’re welcome. It’s the first time I’ve “seen” you around here and your post barely had any other information, so the link posted was to make sure that you see where the “installation wizard” link should show up, if you didn’t know.
Please change to bp-default theme to see if issue is resolved. It might just be that your custom theme needs to be be updated and you’d have to get assistance there from the theme developer.
What’s in your .htaccess file? Please post here.
In reply to: BP Theme Compatibility – Step Three HelpGood luck
In reply to: [resolved] BuddyPress Forum Errors (Help Needed)@davidveldt updating DB info in bb-config.php along with wp-config.php is definitely something to remember when you migrate site from localhost.
@kingary – do you mean you also migrated from localhost and/or that you can’t get Group Forums going?
Deactivate the genesis plugins, change theme to Twenty Eleven, then activate BuddyPress, and change theme to bp-default theme. And if everything’s working well, activate your new theme (genesis i presume) and the other genesis plugins.
Just to clarify, where did you install WordPress, at domain root http://yoursite.com/ or elsewhere?
If you did not install in root, did you install in subdirectory named members?
Did you go through the installation process?
Did you change the page slug for members?
Are you using the bp-default theme?In reply to: BP Theme Compatibility – Step Three HelpI posted some compatibility instructions for graphene on the following webpage to the next page https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/where-are-my-sub-menus/
In reply to: [resolved] BuddyPress Forum Errors (Help Needed)Have you gone through basic troubleshooting like changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress?
Go to Network Admin dashboard panel menu > Plugins > Installed and activate BuddyPress plugin.
Btw, if you’re activating this on live site, remember to backup database and server files first.
== However, after multisite installation I cannot see buddypress in my plugin list to re-enable it!! ==
The BuddyPress menu would be in the Netork Admin panel dashboard menus
You’re welcome. Glad it was just a minor correction. Marking this thread as resolved.
