@topracer Happy New Year
In reply to: How to link to a users profile?Something like this? https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-profile-menu/screenshots/
In reply to: Help Fixing my ThemeIf you’ve revised any of the template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your ubuntu theme folder during the compatibility process, then you have to delete those 6 BP folders within wp-content/themes/ubuntu/ and re-run Appearance > BP compatibility again to get fresh new folders.
The following instruction involves creating two files and uploading to your wp-content/themes/ubuntu as well as adding necessary styles then other recommended styles.
1. Open up your theme’s header.php file with text editor and Save As > header-buddypress.php
2. Open up header-buddypress.php and add the following at the very BOTTOM of the file:
``
Note: if there are errors on page later, remove the line “ from header-buddypress.php
3. Save and upload to server wp-content/themes/ubuntu/ folder4. Create a new file sidebar-buddypress.php and in it add:
``
5. Save and upload to wp-content/themes/ubuntu/ folder6. Open up your theme’s style.css and you must add the following at bottom of file:
`/* My BuddyPress styles */
body.activate #content,
body.activity #content,
body.blogs #content,
body.friends #content,
body.forums #content,
body.groups #content,
body.members #content,
body.messages #content,
body.profile #content,
body.register #content,
body.registration #content,
body.xprofile #content {
background: #ffffff;
padding: 20px;
width: 800px;
}`
7. Save and upload to folder
8. Note: other styles you might want to add after the above styles to remove UL list-styles or tweak some element widths, as needed per assistance with other themes are found in this page https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/Good spot @emily-g, I missed the bp-template-pack reference in source view

Create a new blank file which must be named sidebar-buddypress.php and save it to the root of your yootheme folder in server.
An easy way to get your users to post to your blog from the front end
http://buddydev.com/buddypress/buddypress-simple-front-end-post-a-plugin-to-allow-front-end-posting-for-the-users/bp_core_get_user_email() for BP user’s email. As for getting it into CP7, I’d rather use the free plugin above

@stunod85 congratulations. Looks like you’ve fixed it yourself

To eliminate the list styles which appear in groups, members and activity lists, you can add this to your stylesheet:
`ul.item-list li,
ul.item-list.activity-list li {
list-style: none;
}`In reply to: Can’t create a forum in my groups?BP Codex is your friend – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/4/#enable-group-forum
This is something you should ask theme author yoothemes.com as they should give support for their themes which are supposed to be compatible with BuddyPress.
In reply to: I can’t browse all of the membersHave you contacted your theme author? Looks like it needs to be updated for WP 3.3 and BP 1.5.2. To double-check whether it is indeed so, deactivate the rt-tachyon-wptheme and all RT plugins like the gantry-buddypress plugin and the rokbok css plugin, etc. Then change to bp-default theme and see if behavior is corrected.
In reply to: Help Fixing my ThemeOpen up your ubuntu theme’s header.php with text editor, copy all source code and go to pastebin.com, and paste code there, click submit, and post the generated pastebin URL here. Do the same for index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php.
In reply to: Register link broken on multisitesCheck out this plugin by @sbrajesh which also works on multisite http://buddydev.com/buddypress/buddypress-ajax-registration-plugin-allow-users-to-quickly-register-on-any-page-of-your-website-and-increase-participation/
In reply to: [resolved] turn off site wide forumIn reply to: i am new to buddypress so i need an helping handIf you want users to post, you have to assign them WP role = Contributor.
In order for others to approve the publication of the post, then you have to assign them at least WP role = Editor.
WP and BP roles are different. BP roles = Super/Site Admin, Group Admin, Group Mods, and rest are Members (with default WP role = Suscriber)
In reply to: [resolved] turn off site wide forumGo to wp-admin dashboard menu BuddyPress > Forums and deactivate sitewide forums.
Then to Plugins > Installed Plugins, deactivate then delete bbPress plugin.
Also remove the Page generated for sitewide forums, if any, in Pages > All Pages. That would go to trash. Go to trash and delete that page permanently.In reply to: disable activity comment/repliesIf you want to disable commenting only for forum topics and blog posts in activity stream, then you only need to go to wp-admin menu BuddyPress > Settings and click Yes radio button beside “Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?”
If you want to totally disable commenting in activity streams and you have a bp-default child theme, copy over https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.2/bp-themes/bp-default/activity/entry.php to your child theme folder following directory structure like mychildthemefolder/activity/entry.php then delete lines 54 through 84 as seen in link above. Save file and upload to server.
If you used the BP Template Pack to make your WP theme compatible with BP, open up /activity/entry.php which had been transferred to your WP theme in server during the compatibility process and delete lines as stated above.
There are two media plugins that I know or used which could do it
– The beta version of BP Media, a free plugin https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/home/ see server requirements
– Stable version of BP Gallery, a premium plugin http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/In reply to: [resolved] Can’t find my Topics after I post themYou’re welcome

Going through this extra step prevents spammers’ stuff, if any, from appearing in our activity streams since almost of all of them don’t change display names
In reply to: [resolved] Testing with a new screen name@mrmyth cool. Marking this as resolved then.
In reply to: [resolved] Can’t find my Topics after I post them“For the time being, your display name needs to be different than your login to update your activity stream.” per JJJ at bottom of this page https://buddypress.org/community/groups/miscellaneous/forum/topic/forum-conduct/
In reply to: Site-wide posts with thumbnails anyone?@jennybeaumont this is something you should post over at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite where I recall seeing a solution to this. Very helpful and knowledgeable Mods will point you in the right direction.
Marking as resolved then.In reply to: delete activity posts?@ClubUgly change to bp-default theme. As Site/Super admin, on the front end you’ll already see the “Delete” button on the right of “Comment” and “Favorite” buttons right after each post in Activity Stream for current BP version.
In reply to: How to I Administer my site?Not clear whether you couldn’t access wp-admin right after you installed BuddyPress or not. If so, if you can’t access wp-admin, deactivate BuddyPress via FTP/cpanel/etc. and rename the buddypress folder in wp-content/plugins/ to something like buddypress-xx
As for GoDaddy hosting, I have read many heartaches of people trying to install BuddyPress and/or go Multisite there with shared hosting or better.
In reply to: Can’t Re-Install BuddyPressMake sure you followed instructions here https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/deleting-buddypress/
In reply to: Pages not foundBefore installing BuddyPress, make sure that your pretty permalinks are working in your WordPress installation and that you can access your .htaccess file. Otherwise, please resolve these issues at WP forums first – https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
