In reply to: better group descriptions
bp_new_group_description() is filterable
In reply to: remove extraneous titles?Easiest way is to hide those headings by adding the following at the end of your theme’s stylesheet:
`div.profile div.base h4 {
display: none;
}`To add image, you can post the URL of the image here.
Easiest way you can add the following at the bottom of your stylesheet:
`div#item-header-content span.activity,
div.item-meta span.activity {
display: none;
}`In reply to: Register ButtonYou need to enable registration in wp-admin dashboard menu Settings > General for single WP installs for the “create an account” link to show up
In reply to: remove extraneous titles?Either you’ve forgotten you created that xprofile group name several weeks ago or another Site/Super Admin created that profile group

It’s not a Groups component but a Profile component. To edit the name of the Profile Group Name, go to wp-admin dashboard menu BuddyPress > Profile Fields and click on the Tab “Getting to know you” and click on Edit Group button under Profile Group Name.
As for adding an image fields in user profile, can’t do that in default and there’s no plugin for that at this time. You’d have to develop this or find a developer to do this for you.
In reply to: Hide Register Button for Logged In UsersWhat theme are you using? I know that’s not happening in bp-default theme. You might just have to add “ before and “ after the said register link or contact theme author.
In reply to: U BuddyPress Forum Editor Not Showing UpPlease note that the plugin has not been updated since BP 1.2.9 and WP 3.2.1 per plugin page https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/u-buddypress-forum-editor/ . That being the case, the plugin was meant for the Groups Forums (internal bbPress installation) and not the site wide forums (bbPress 2.0 plugin).
In reply to: Remove Directory HeaderUnfortunately, just using CSS won’t cut it as the titles do not have unique ID’s or classes. If you put `body.directory h3 {display:none;}` even the widget titles will disappear along with page titles of activity index page (when logged out).
The alternative, If you have a child theme of bp-default theme:
– Create three folders in your child theme folder namely: groups, members and forums.
– Copy over groups/index.php from bp-default theme to your child theme
– Copy over members/index.php from bp-default theme to your child theme
– Copy over forums/index.php from bp-default theme to your child theme
– Open up the files you copied over to the different folders in your child theme and delete the titles. Note: for groups/index.php, if you also want to delete the “Create Groups” link, delete from start of `to end of `
`. Otherwise, leave the link for Create Groups link.
If you used BP Template Pack plugin and transferred 6 folders with BP template files, just open up the files mentioned above, make revisions and upload to server making sure you upload to correct folder.
networkit.com/tvhra/our-community/groups/tvhra/ is a private group so we cannot see activity page. I did check out another group’s activity and it does lead to 404 page.
Have you tried:
– Going to Settings > Permalinks then click Save Changes on same page to re-run permalinks?
– Checking your .htaccess file for your multisite installation and see if there are any changes since you last updated your .htaccess file?
– Change to bp-default theme, clear cache and check whether if you upload a new avatar, it shows up properly?
– Check site where you purchased the theme – do you need to update the theme for WP 3.3 and BP 1.5.2? You can also install the Theme Check plugin as well as the Log Deprecated Notices plugin to see what code/s need to be updated.You don’t change the files in bp-default theme nor in BP Template Pack.
You only change the 16 files within the 6 folders transferred to your WP theme, Collection, in server.
Instruction is posted at http://wp.me/p1I84P-1B
In reply to: [resolved] Admin Bar for BuddypressThe “new look” is in BuddyPress trunk coming up BP 1.6 if not earlier. https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk
In reply to: Confirmation e-mail for buddypress isn’t workingWP/BP versions? Check if activating their account works If you deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress and change to Twenty Eleven theme?
In reply to: How To Show Cutom Post Types in Actvity StreamIt’s in the works for BP 1.7 if not earlier https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3460
You might want to look at https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-groups-extras/ == After activating your groups will have ability to create any custom fields they want.
You need to install and activate BP Template Pack plugin first https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
Download the 6 BP folders transferred to your collection theme in server down to your computer hard drive. Looking at the source codes you’ve posted above, you have to use the first method – changing 16 template files inside those 6 BP folders as noted in codex link above.
Before going into this though, did you know that when viewed at wide screen, your site layout is aligned to the left i.e. not centered in screen? Also, that when your site is viewed at 1024px, the right side drops down under the main content div area?
== the buddypress admin bar in the middle of the page is off. ==
Could you be more specific? Do you have a screenshot where that admin bar is in the middle of the page?In reply to: Multisite install on non root site is not workingYou should see BP section in Network Admin.
In reply to: I have a serious problem with the system of friendsDid you disable Account Settings in BP Components? If so, https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/5296
In reply to: Header Image Disappeared Unless Logged InDeactivate s2member and change to bp-default theme. If issue is resolved, then you should either contact theme author or s2-plugin author.
In reply to: Theme Compatibility 2@PeeJii You cannot make it work because the other theme has a different HTML structure. What theme are you using? You would need to post the following: page.php, index.php, header.php and footer.php source codes.
@MikeTime360 I recall Sayontan mentioning that the theme had around 200+ options or so and so it might be a conflict with some of queries/options he already has in the theme. You should search in the theme’s forums or post there instead. What I posted above is for child theme of bp-default.
In reply to: [resolved] Widget dropdown problems in settings pageGood for you
Marking this as resolved then.http error 500 usually means issue with server or sometimes .htaccess file and sometimes memory limits, etc. Check .htaccess file (compare with this). You might also need to increase memory limit (or ask tech support) from 32MB to 64MB
I’ve installed WP Multisite with BuddyPress using custom bp-default child themes in Quarter01/Quarter02 this year with IXwebhosting for two private communities each using Unlimited Pro shared hosting plan and have no issues with the hosting so far to date. Those were private/closed registration for 200+ and 275+ members with 24 and 45 subdomain blogs respectlvely. If you have more members, open registration and more blogs, you’d need to upgrade to VPS or Cloud Hosting plan either at IXweb or elsewhere.
Also, Mingle theme is for version BP 1.5 and WP 3.2.1 (as seen on theme demo site) and you’re on WP 3.3 and BP 1.5.2. Instead of activating a new WP default theme, activate bp-default theme and clear cache.
In reply to: A very problem with avatar, please!!== What I want is that you can change the avatar from another site. ==
If your users have accounts with Gravatar.com (another site), the avatar will automatically appear in their user profiles.== I prefer it to be in the plugin “theme my login”. ==
You’d have to ask plugin author if he could make Theme My login plugin compatible with BuddyPress which is not exactly easy.In reply to: Buddypress.org profile errorsAs activity updates and private messaging are deactivated in this site, BuddyPress.org, it could very well be that you mean that the problems you listed above are happening in your site where you installed BuddyPress.
If it is your installation you are referring to above, what WP/BP versions are you on? Have you tried the basic trouble-shooting methods like changing to bp-default theme and if issue is not corrected, deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress?
