Save file.
2. Open up your theme’s sidebar.php and Save As > sidebar-buddypress.php. Open up sidebar-buddypress.php and make the following revisions:
a) at the very top of the file before all other code, add:
`

Have you tried deactivating Genesis 1.7.1 and Agency and Genesis Connect, then change to bp-default theme to see if the issue corrected?
Log into the BuddyPress demo site http://testbp.org/ and send a private message with a username and password to your site
http://testbp.org/members/mercime/
Starting from scratch:
1. Open up your theme’s header.php with text editor and Save As > header-buddypress.php. Open up header-buddypress.php and at the very bottom of the file below all code, add:
`
2. Open up your theme’s sidebar.php and Save As > sidebar-buddypress.php. Open up sidebar-buddypress.php and make the following revisions:
a) at the very top of the file before all other code, add:
`
`
b) at the very bottom of the file below all other code, add:
`
`
Save file.
3. You do not need a footer-buddypress.php for this theme compatibility.
4. Check out the styling “corrections” done in child theme of Twenty Ten to rein in some styles added in the compatibility process https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/.
Default installation works. Share following:
– What WP/BP versions are you on?
– What theme are you using?
– What plugins are activated?
– Single WP or Multisite?
– How many members do you have?
== to find a way to correct the size of comment/favorite button ==
It looks like you checked the box to disable bp.css during the BP Compatibility Process. First time I’ve seen it. You should also use the Firebug add-on for Firefox to help you ID what’s causing that to happen. If you need further assistance, give site URL and a test user username and password here.
== Let users have their own blog. i read that buddypress has this feature ==
That’s a WordPress Multisite feature which is supported by BuddyPress. Install WP, then create a network, then you have to allow user/s to create blogs in Network Admin > Network Settings.
.== users can add information, images or html code ==
Images can be added in a variety of ways: a) your blog posts – the native WP gallery, and/d or via BP-compatible plugins like the b) free BP Media and the d) premium BP Gallery plugin. Test drive BuddyPress by logging in demo site at http://testbp.org/
@Dailyblog It could very well be just one or two missing, extra or misplaced closing div/s. http://validator.w3.org/ usually can help you ID extra/missing divs.
If you need further assistance, it would help if you open up your WP theme’s header.php,copy source code, go to pastebin.com, post code there, click submit and post the generated pastebin URL here. Do the same for elitist theme’s footer.php, index.php and page.php.
The index.php code in pastebin is from activity/index.php and not from your WP theme
In any case, no worries since your page.php code is enough for this project.
Before anything else, open up your WP theme’s footer.php file. Move “ from top of footer.php to just above closing body and html tags like so:
`
`
Many plugins hook into wp_footer and if you have that placed elsewhere, it could cause you problems – layout and other stuff.
To continue with the BP compatibility process:
1. Open up your WP theme’s header.php with text editor and Save > As header-buddypress.php in your WP theme folder.
Open up the new header-buddypress.php file and at the very bottom of the file below other code, add:
`
2. Open up your WP theme’s sidebar.php and Save > As sidebar-buddypress.php in your WP theme folder
Open up sidebar-buddypress.php and at the very top of the file before all other code, add
`
`
then at the very bottom of the same file after all other code, add
`
`
Save sidebar-buddypress.php
3. Styling issues – use the style modifications used on BP Twenty Ten child theme and adjust to taste. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/
4. Upload all modifications to WP theme in server.
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
There’s a second method in above link which you can use for your theme. If you need further assistance, open up your WP theme’s header.php in text editor and copy all code, then go to pastebin.com and paste the code and click submit. Post the generated pastebin.com URL here. Do the same for your WP theme’s index.php, page.php, and footer.php
If you’re using BP 1.5, it’s done the same way as you would do in regular WP installation.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page
– Create a blank new Page titled e.g. Blog, News, etc. and publish it
– Go to admin dashboard Settings > Reading >Front Page Displays > A static page. Select “Activity” for Front page and then select “Blog” or whatever you named the new Page, for your Posts page.
What theme are you using? Change to bp-default theme to see if issue is corrected.
@buxton161 To make Graphene theme compatible with BuddyPress
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/where-are-my-sub-menus/?topic_page=1&num=15#post-115080
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/where-are-my-sub-menus/?topic_page=2&num=15#post-116148
I got it working with the code I gave you.
A new version of Graphene theme came out since you last posted here. When you upgrade Graphene theme, you’ll lose all the BP template pack folders transferred before, and you’ll have to run BP template pack plugin’s compatibility process again via Appearance > BP Compatibility. Then follow the instructions I posted before https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/where-are-my-sub-menus/?topic_page=1&num=15#post-115080
Per same instructions in that post, add the following at the very bottom of graphene theme’s style.css file after other styles.
`/* BuddyPress Compatibility Style Mods */
.post .avatar {
position: static !important;
}
table.forum {
margin: 0 !important;
}
table.forum tr > td:first-child, table.forum tr > th:first-child {
padding: 15px !important;
}
div#item-header h2,
form#whats-new-form h5 {
clear: none !important;
}
div#item-header ul {
list-style-type: none;
}
div.dir-search {
margin: -20px 0 0 !important;
}
div.item-list-tabs {
margin: 25px 0 20px !important;
}
div.item-list-tabs ul,
div#object-nav.item-list-tabs ul,
div#subnav.item-list-tabs ul {
font-size: 13px;
margin-left: 0 !important;
}
div.item-list-tabs ul li:first-child {
margin-left: 15px !important;
}
div#subnav.item-list-tabs {
margin: -15px 0 15px !important;
}
#activity-stream {
margin-left: 0;
}
.padder div.pagination {
margin: -20px 0 0 !important;
}
ul.item-list {
list-style-type: none;
margin-left: 0;
}
body.activity-permalink div.activity {
padding: 20px;
}
body.activity-permalink .activity-content {
padding: 0 !important;
}`
The slugs you wanted are what I used as examples in 3rd option for installing both group and sitewide forums https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/3/#change-slugs-both-forums
Hi there. Let me check this out again and I’ll get back to you.
2 kinds of forums available with BP, internal bbPress forums for groups and the Sitewide Forums via bbPress 2.0, the plugin.
Check out BP Codex – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
#1.
a) Copy over index.php file from bp-default theme to your child theme folder.
b) Open up index.php in child theme folder and make the following change. On line # 37 of that file, replace:
“
with
`<?php
if ( is_home() ) {
the_excerpt();
} else {
the_content( __( ‘Read the rest of this entry ?’, ‘buddypress’ ) );
}
?>`
c) If you don’t have one yet, create a blank functions.php file in your bp-default child theme folder, then add the solutions to excerpt length and “Read more” are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/the_excerpt
#2. The avatar with username is wrapped in div.author-box lines 22 – 29 in the same index.php file you copied over
EDIT – took too long to answer. Didn’t see Xevo’s post
@mhamidch This article in BuddyPress Codex may help you https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
I suggest you post at http://www.studiopress.com/support/ as they support the GenesisConnect plugin. It would help the volunteers there if you posted whether you activated BuddyPress and GenesisConnect at the same time or if you activate one before the other, and other pertinent information about your installation.
== I’m trying to install Buddypress on to a multisite installation and it’s not working ==
– So is your WP installed at domain root?
– Is multisite with subdomain or subdirectory structure?
– Did you set which blog ID BuddyPress will run on in your wp-config.php?
`define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, $blog_id ); `
replace $blog_id with actual blog ID number of secondary blog.
WP/BP versions? Change to bp-default theme as it should be working just fine as it is in the BuddyPress’ http://testbp.org/
closing this topic in favor of your new topic
https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/deleting-buddypress/
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/setting-up-a-new-installation/buddypress-1-5-installation-wizard/
If you’re reinstalling BP from ground up, make sure you installed WordPress manually instead of using webhost script to install WP otherwise there’ll still be problems in your BP.
If you had wp_bb tables from bbPress installation then you probably have bb-config.php at root of WP installation, delete that too.
