In reply to: How to change the avatar in the photo?
Something’s getting lost in translation. Avatars are the images representing the members of the BuddyPress installation. Albums are photo galleries. What exactly are you asking about? WordPress has forums in different languages, perhaps there is one in your language.
In reply to: Trouble Uploading Avatars WP 3.2.1 / BP 1.2.9Sorry, I have never used Windows server for any WP/BP installation. However there are some references which might help you

– Can you upload image/s via media library? Or can you create native WP gallery in your install?Check if there was an /avatars/ folder created in your server –> wp-content/uploads/avatars
– If there’s no avatars folder created, then you might be dealing with permissions
– If there is an avatars folder, open it up and dig in to look for images named like

3a912****2d2f-bpthumb.jpgBtw, Linux or Windows server? Is your install localhost or online?
In reply to: Trouble Uploading Avatars WP 3.2.1 / BP 1.2.9== customized all the templates to fit my ElegantThemes template. ==
Just to clarify, you installed and activated BP Template Pack plugin, then customized templates from template pack plugin to fit your theme’s HTML structure, right? Are you using the latest BP template pack plugin?== After hours of searching the forum, working through code, and feeling like I’ve tried everything, it is doing the same thing ==
Could be conflict with elegant theme. To check: Deactivate BP Template Pack plugin, go to Appearance > Themes and change to bp-default theme and check if you can create groups, upload avatars and the like.In reply to: Buddypress Child ThemingMake sure that you added term buddypress to tags in your child theme’s stylesheet
`Tags: buddypress, etc. etc. etc.`Another way would be to add the following line to your wp-config.php
`define( ‘BP_SILENCE_THEME_NOTICE’, true );`The first one is easier I think
In reply to: Different background image for bp componentsThrough the body class yes, but you can use what’s automatically generated instead. Use Firebug, FF add-on or view source code to see what class is being used. And then add image/s via CSS
e.g.
`body.forum {
background: #000066 url(images/blueblue.jpg);
}
body.groups {
background: #000000 url(images/blackblack.jpg);
}`Ok, didn’t notice it earlier but somehow one of the links brought me to your other site and all links were working http://jaws.my/demo/kashnkrissy2/members/admin/
It’s not BuddyPress that’s directly causing the redirect but rather most likely something in your .htaccess file wherein you’re trying to map the ladykashandkrissy.com domain onto jaws.my/demo/kashnkrissy2.
You could try the domain mapping plugin if you’re on multisite or better yet, uninstall BuddyPress and find resolution for your domain mapping first at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting before installing BuddyPress.
In reply to: Can I put a logo in the defult theme== <img src="_inc/images/2.jpg" /> ==@naijaping Missing forward slash before _inc/ So it should be
<img src="/_inc/images/2.jpg" />In reply to: removing group auto join== adding the line: define(‘BP_DISABLE_AUTO_GROUP_JOIN’,true); – but that doesnt work either. in fact that line replaces the admin bar at the top of my site. ==
@tommyhoang Your bp-custom.php should contain not only that line but also the opening and closing tags.
`<?php
define(‘BP_DISABLE_AUTO_GROUP_JOIN’,true);
?>`
bp-custom.php should be uploaded in plugins folder => wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php
Congratulations, you’ve resolved this on your own
In reply to: Cannot Create new Groups@guileshill I see that you’ve changed to bp-default theme. Go to http://artsnet.co/groups/ – do you see the “Create Group” link beside page title “Groups Directory”?
@qrahaman – to post code here, you have to wrap it with backticks as seen within the parentheses ( ` )
We have initial docs on styling for BP 1.5 https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/1-5-developer-and-designer-information/
WP/BP versions? What theme are you using? Better yet, site URL?
In reply to: How do i let users upload their own themes?Yes. If a user bought a premium theme or created his own theme, the user can email the theme to you and you can upload and activate it for use in that specific user’s blog only. No problem.
Note however that it is the responsibility of Network Admin to check out that theme first for security holes, deprecated tags, etc. before uploading it to server.
In reply to: What will happen if I uninstall BuddyPress?If you want to uninstall BuddyPress later, you’ll go through this process https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/deleting-buddypress/
As for BP Template Pack plugin, you’d have to delete the plugin and then delete the BP template folders/files copied over to your active WP theme folder when you went through the BP compatibility process.
WP/BP versions? Could be that you have outdated theme? Change to bp-default theme and check whether mentioned misbehavior is corrected.
In reply to: BP 1.5 – Wierd bug with CSS loading a child theme@simon_said BP 1.5 Theme Stylesheet info in BP Codex – https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/1-5-developer-and-designer-information/
In reply to: How do i let users upload their own themes?For multisite install, only Network Admin can upload and enable themes for activation in different blogs. This is to provide a level of security for the whole network. If you allow users to upload themes, your installation will surely be hacked.
In reply to: FATAL ERROR: please helpIf this is the same Speed theme I’ve seen before, double-check if the theme has been updated to be compatible with BP 1.2.9 and again if it’s the same Speed theme I’ve seen before, you do not need to install the BP Template Pack plugin for this theme because it already contains BP Template files. Therefore errors come up because of outdated theme and installing BP template pack for theme which already has BP template files – outdated those may be.

https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/Per info given in above links, open up /activity/index.php and at the top of the file replace:
``with
`<div id="page-” >`Then at the bottom of the file, replace
``
with
``
Save file. Proceed to change HTML of remaining 12 files posted in links above. There might be a need to include div entry plus closing div. But check out first how this turns out. Good luck.
In reply to: Advanced settings for group forums?== are polls and “likes” hard to make? ==
Let’s just say it’s not easy and that it takes time to make. There are polls and likes WP plugins. Getting them to work with BP i.e. show up in activity stream, etc. will require additional work on the plugins.== Single WP, MAMP ==
Sorry, I use XAMPP.In reply to: BuddyPress 1.5 Resources: Tutorials, Videos and Info@karmatosed adding your post

WordPress should be installed manually i.e. via FTP, cpanel, etc. and NOT via webhost scripts which bring about numerous issues when BuddyPress is activated. https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#system-server (webhost scripts wreaks havoc with creating a network as well)
