In reply to: Can’t get to BP from WP
== Then, I activated the BP plugin and…nothing ==
Nothing like a blank page or nothing like going to Appearance > Themes and the bp-default theme doesn’t show up, or ….?
If you’re on single WP install, there should be a BuddyPress logo/menu on upper left hand area of menu. If you’re on multisite, go to network and find BP menu on upper left hand area.
== My new user registrations only appear in Network Admin -> Users. ==
Yeah, that’s how it’s done now since around WP 3.1 multisite, one is listed as user of a network – one login to all sites of multisite install as a subscriber (or role which the Super Admin set in options for new users).
This plugin could help with what you want to do https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/multisite-user-management/
My bad, deleted the duplicate from code posted above

@naijaping you misunderstood hnla. You do not need multiple dynamic areas or widget areas to effect the look that you wanted for your sidebar. This can easily be done by changing styles in style.css file, something like this before you made the changes.
`div#sidebar {
background: transparent none;
border: none;
float: left;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
width: 224px;
}div#sidebar .padder {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
}div#sidebar div.widget {
-webkit-border-radius:5px;
background:#fff;
border:1px solid #AEE100;
border-radius:5px;
padding: 15px;
}`In reply to: Sidebar and page layout when clicking View== The page is still the reduced size version ==
Backup your stylesheet and remove blocks of styling for anything with ” `body.activity-permalink ` “
Solicited and unsolicited suggestions – backup your stylesheet before applying mods so you could revert if you so choose
ul.activity-list li
— add `overflow: hidden;`div.activity-comments ul li > ul
— change `margin-left: 0px;` to `margin-left: 20px;`div.activity-comments
— add `overflow: hidden;`
— add `position: relative;`In reply to: Adding Dating Function to a Buddypress siteBy dating you mean something like match.com or eharmony.com? Have not seen a BP plugin that does that.
Simplest way could be to use Friend feature and Private Messages with additional layers of privacy so “Friends/Dates” cannot see how many “Dates/Friends” you already have
.@Scotty501 I just checked out fishbook theme in test install. The activity lists are not going bonkers like what’s happening in your site. I would backup your current fishbook theme (with your mods) to computer hard drive, then rename/delete fishbook theme folder, and re-upload fresh fishbook theme https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/fishbook-buddypress-buddypack
In reply to: How to fix this probleam?You need to increase available memory. See this page for 4 ways to do so – https://codex.buddypress.org/troubleshooting/blank-pages/
@Scotty501 looks like it’s missing some styles for the activity lists.
In reply to: How to delete my account from hereYou can’t remove your account from BP.org.
As Andrea_r mentioned above …. just stop posting.In reply to: Two WP3 installs, one with buddypressOk, just to clarify. You mentioned above “The main reason I want two separate installs is because I can’t get wildcard subdomains working on the web server level. I have to add each subdomain in cPanel.“. Yet in your first post you said “I currently have one WP3 install, multi-site, subdomain, that just hosts sites with content on them.” which means regularly that wildcard subdomains are enabled. So which one is it? Or are you talking about installations in different servers?
In reply to: Help with login and signup@gunju2221 good to know that Arras is now more BP-friendly
Thanks.In reply to: Two WP3 installs, one with buddypress== In a perfect world, be able to embed BuddyPress stuff into this site, too. ==
Sure you can. As Andrea_r mentioned above, “Why not just have it all in one site?” That way, you won’t have to make changes in DB to have the same userbase for both WPMS installs. You can have BP in your main site, and just use BP Template Pack plugin and go through the BP compatibility process to make your WP theme compatible with BP in main site.
In reply to: Help with login and signupWhat php magic are you looking for exactly? Have you tried contacting Arras theme author re BP compatibility? I recall there were some js conflicts with Arras theme sometime back. Don’t know if this is still the case @gunju2221.
In reply to: How to create a groupNever read that book, but thinking something to add to BP Codex. It’s not hard to do, just have to find time to do it

Open up your theme’s style.css file and add something like this
`#sidebar div.widget { margin-top: 20px; border-top: 1px dotted #AEE100; }`
#aee100 is the light green border used around your post. You could make it thicker with 2px or 3px or change the color to something else.
In reply to: Sidebar and page layout when clicking Viewpermalink.php replace content with something like this (not fully tested – see how it works)
`
`
EDIT – made some changes
In reply to: Sidebar and page layout when clicking ViewIf I recall well, fishbook is a child theme of bp-default theme. What you do is
1. create a new folder named `members` and
2. within that members/ directory, create another folder named `single` then
3. within the members/single/ directory, create another folder named `activity` then
4. copy over the file permalink.php within activity/ folder so result when you upload everything to server, you’ll have
5. wp-content/themes/fishbook-buddypress-buddypack/members/single/activity/permalink.php
This is what’s following the directory structure of bp-default to your own child theme folderBefore you upload, change the HTML structure of permalink.php to something similar like the page.php while keeping that page’s template tags on permalink.php
In reply to: photosI would recommend BP Gallery, thought it’s a premium plugin – good for single users and groups. http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/
In reply to: How to create a group@zhonghao glad to be of service
great idea on the “guide”In reply to: “Create group” returns me to home@athimm could be the permalink structure like this ticket https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1766
In reply to: Sidebar and page layout when clicking ViewThis is the template which handles the page. Copy over bp-default’s permalink.php to your child theme’s folder, and paste inside folders /members/single/activity/ following directory structure of bp-default
In reply to: Blog posts mixed upFirst of all, please keep the bp-default theme where you found it – in buddypress/bp-themes folder, delete the bp-default theme you uploaded to wp-content/themes folder. If you want to use the theme, you should create a child theme instead https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
== I could not update the categories in my own blog, nor access the posts through my dashboard ==
BuddyPress doesn’t cause this strange behavior, but other plugins could have done so. Deactivate all other plugins except BuddyPress
In reply to: Sidebar and page layout when clicking ViewAre you using child theme of bp-default or WP theme with BP Template Pack?
