In reply to: Someone show me a simple and clean sitePlus you can look over sites at http://www.bpinspire.com/ or you can check out the fishbook theme https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/fishbook-buddypress-buddypack
In reply to: How to install BuddyPress ?Deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress and change to twentyten theme, check if permalinks are working with the menu.
If pretty permalinks are working, then check with webhost if mod_rewrite is enabled in your server. If permalinks are working, re-upload BuddyPress plugin manually via FTP or cpanel,etc.

In reply to: How Do I Remove Log Out From “My Account” Menu?`function remove_logout_bp_adminbar() {
remove_action(‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘bp_adminbar_logout_subnav’, 6);
}
add_action(‘wp_footer’,’remove_logout_bp_adminbar’,1);`In reply to: Fishbook HelpI’ve already answered your other post about the missing adminbar and deleting the wp_footer will lose it. There’s nothing in the fishbook theme — a bp-default child theme with CSS revisions only — which would affect losing the adminbar. Re-upload the fishbook theme and while you’re at it, reupload the BuddyPress plugin. Are you sure you didn’t select “Disable adminbar for logged out users” in your BuddyPress settings in the backend?
In reply to: Admin Bar is missing / dissapearedThe adminbar requires “ in footer.php, so don’t delete that when you make changes in footer.php
In reply to: Reply Button Not WorkingI’ve seen this problem in the forums and it’s because some BP themes have not been updated. In this case, I see that you’re using the “Version: 1.1 RC1” of CosmicBuddy. The theme has been updated in “Version 1.2 RC2 Update 1” http://buddydev.com/themes/cosmic-buddy/
Go @gunju2221 !

In reply to: phrase helpPlease post this in plugin’s forums where plugin dev can see your request for assistance.
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/forum/In reply to: Admin bar login redirects to 404Are you sure it’s caused by BuddyPress? Deactivate BP and see if your WP pages and posts are not redirecting to 404 as well after the transfer from subdirectory to root. WP/BP versions?
No need for sarcasm, let not your pink hair turn red

Per my last check in a test install of multi-author blog, existing users – from contributors to Admins – are automatically listed as Members. Of course the dropdown for “Last Active” might show only the Admin until your users sign up again since sitewide activity will only be recroded by BuddyPress after it is activated. You can see all your existing members in dropdown selection “Newest Registered”
Edit – there’s also this plugin but haven’t tested it for latest BP/WP versions http://teleogistic.net/code/buddypress/bp-import-blog-activity/

Cheers.In reply to: Free Maximus Theme released@triplemoons this thread is 10 months old. Looks like they no longer carry free themes. Closing this topic.
In reply to: Forum Topic “Elevated” to Blog Post@LPH2005 I’ve haven’t seen anything like what you’ve mentioned. The closest was the SimplePress forum feature http://simple-press.com/features/ under “Components” where it has 1) Blog Posts and Forum Topics can be linked and 2) Share Blog Comments and Forum Posts but no conversions.
Add this to your wp-config.php file
define(‘WP_DEFAULT_THEME’, ‘theme-folder-name’);
from this tutorialAs for changing themes, as long as you activate only your preferred default theme sitewide in Network Admin, the only change they can make is to twentyten which needs to be there just in case.
In reply to: Want to use Group Front page but not BP-Album, how?There are different approaches to what you want to do which includes deciding whether you will allow your users to post from the backend or to post always from the front end. My approach would be to use EventPress plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/eventpress/ along with with http://buddydev.com/plugins/eventpress-gallery/ which requires the premium BP Gallery plugin http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/ which has images, audio, video galleries. Perhaps others would like to share what their approaches would be.

How complex is the Tours section?
https://codex.buddypress.org/plugin-development/creating-a-custom-buddypress-component/
though the BuddyPress Skeleton Component needs to be updatedIn reply to: All Buddypress Pages Redirect to Members Page@goozleology deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to default theme. If the behavior persists with defaults then post back here.
If the problem is resolved with bp-default and no other plugins except BuddyPress, then you should check which of the plugins or if it’s the theme that’s causing such behavior, then contact plugin/theme author.
== Looking into the DB I can see that the redirects column in wp-options is pretty large and I would imagine this is where the problem stems from, but I’m not comfortable manually editing this table. ==
Go to wp_options table via phpMyAdmin. Copy what’s in your wp-options table and paste in text editor. There’s a pattern to the madness of the serialized data which is sometimes very messy to edit by hand. Some plugins which have been deactivated and deleted still leave some nastiness behind and you would have to delete the section. Sometime back, I found the virus of a hacked install listed in wp_options table as well.
What’s good about doing it this way is that you can save what was originally in the wp_options table in a text file and keep in a safe place while you make changes via phpMyAdmin. When something goes wrong after making those revisions, you can always paste back the original content from the txt file you saved.
For an overview of what serialized data to expect in your wp_options table which could also help you ID what’s going on, go to http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/options.php or localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/options.php
