In reply to: One blog per each BuddyPress user – IS IT POSSIBLE?
== Site Admin -> Options -> Allow New Registrations > set to: “Only Logged In Users Can Create New Blogs” – is no longer available!!! ==
It’s now available at Network Admin > Settings > Settings > Registration Settings – “Logged in users may register new sites.”
@gdaybuddy WP Codex is your friend.
Backing up:
– https://codex.wordpress.org/Backing_Up_Your_Database
– https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_BackupsChanging configurations:
– Reverse “giving WP its own directory”
– https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress
– https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URLDuring this process, there are many helpful volunteers at WP.org forums to assist you https://wordpress.org/support/
From general observation, the best time frame to post there is around 9 am – 3 pm PST. You can bump your post there after 24 hours, just in case things get busy.During your changes, you should take a look at this BP Codex page

In reply to: pages private to groupsI know that the premium Gravity Forms plugin can be integrated with BuddyPress in general, but to attach that form specifically to certain group/s would require extra coding to achieve this on your part.
By walkthrough, you mean this one? https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/
The last time I checked out an On Demand theme was almost a year ago, but I remember it has a page.php file where you can see the HTML structure you should impose over the BP template files transferred when you went through the compatibility process with BP Template Pack.
In reply to: pages private to groupshttps://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-docs/
If you create a hidden group, only group admin and invited members of the group can access these pages.In reply to: A global forum?== I prefer keep local forums with the global fourm running along. ==
Actually, @sbrajesh‘s Global Forums plugin can either integrate the groups forums or run separate from the group forums.
== i’ve done so many posts and image uploads, its going to be a nightmare to re do it, ==
If you don’t need to install BuddyPress and make sure it works for all WP and BP upgrades including BP plugins, then you can stay in that setup.
If you do want BP in your setup, backup database and server files and save to hard drive then reverse the process you went through “giving WP it’s own directory”, you can then reinstall WP at domain root.
In reply to: Remove GroupsIf you are going to use an external forum software, then you can just go to dashboard > BuddyPress > Component Set up > Groups – Disabled. Note that if you go this route, you would have to create a plugin to integrate your forum software with BuddyPress.
If you want to use the internal bbPress forum which you install via BuddyPress > Forums Setup , then you have to keep the groups enabled because the default forums are connected to groups. https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/buddypress-forum/ In this scenario, you could rename and use Groups as the Main Forum sections like https://wordpress.org/support/ and adjust navigation in BP Admin Bar, Main Navigation and Item Navigation accordingly.
== Now buddypress won’t work, its driving me insane ==
The last time I tested https://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory a year ago and installed BP, it just didn’t work. Since you just created your site, why not start from scratch and install WordPress in domain root?
In reply to: Looking for feedback on our tweaked Profile PagesNice, very nice, Greg. Cool left sidebar, kudos for the tweaks:-) Everytime I visit your site, it just gets better and better.
The width of the middle column works for components except for the Activity pages, where it looks cramped esp. with indented replies, the pictures cut off, share buttons expanded not looking good. Perhaps for the activity pages you might consider expanding the middle column using body classes in style.css. But that’s just me

Cheers.
== I added the extra bit still no joy ==
Hmm, I know the code works. I assume you revised the whole wp_nav_menu code in your functions.php with the whole code I posted above.
– Post content of your footer.php here.
– Did you create a new menu in Appearance > Menus – Choose Footer Menu from Theme Locations and clicked on Save after creating the links?== if you click that you will get a 404 error, ==
– Deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress then re-run Settings > Permalinks – Save.
In reply to: Activating Themes Are Messing Up My Site@wuphilly Some ways to get a BP-compatible theme
1. Create a child theme of bp-default theme – then style it to taste
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/2. Make your WordPress theme compatible with BuddyPress via BP Template Pack

In reply to: Text Editors in BP@el_terko Thank you. I should have explained before posting the link to the plugin:
You would need to create that functionality, see how TinyMCE editor is added in BuddyPress Docs plugin.In reply to: “Create a Blog” Initial MessageBy Initial message, you mean the text under Create a Blog … “By filling out the form below, you can add a blog to your account. There is no limit to the number of blogs you can have, so create to your heart’s content, but blog responsibly. etc”?
You can do that without touching core file with this method: http://blog.ftwr.co.uk/archives/2010/01/02/mangling-strings-for-fun-and-profit/
In reply to: Update a BuddyPress 1.0.3 plugin to the last versionYou’re welcome. Found your post in Jobs Forum for anyone interested. https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-jobs-board/forum/topic/update-a-buddypresss-plugin/

In reply to: Text Editors in BPIn reply to: BuddyPress doesn't work with Yahoo Hosting?You should do some research. Maybe I missed it but I don’t see any links for pre-sales support at http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhosting/ esp. mod_rewrite? PHP 5+? GD library bundled with PHP? at least 32MB memory? etc.
There are many issues with WordPress alone on Yahoo! hosting, adding a poweful plugin like BuddyPress …

http://webhostinggeeks.com/user-reviews/index2.php?item_id=2In reply to: BuddyPress Admin Bar Gone@JamieWade since you’re going to allow BP Admin Bar, you don’t need `define(‘BP_DISABLE_ADMIN_BAR’, false); ` in wp-config.php at all.
I see that you tried to resolve this issue with @pcwriter before who gave good troubleshooting tips. Another thing comes to mind, if you installed BP via auto install, re-upload BuddyPress manually via FTP, cpanel, etc. just might be missing some files. Make sure that all plugins are deactivated except BuddyPress.
If that doesn’t work, need your site URL.
In reply to: CSS Works in FireFox but not in Chrome, Opera and IE@gunju2221 True, we all do
In reply to: CSS Works in FireFox but not in Chrome, Opera and IE@gunju2221 no worries, checked wp-admin. it’s a test user account, not Site/Super Admin one.
I have corrected the original code posted above to be added in the functions.php file. Forgot to add `=>`
In reply to: CSS Works in FireFox but not in Chrome, Opera and IE@steliodj quick glance at your theme, for cross-browser compatibility, when you float an element, add width to the element as well. e.g.
`div.item-list-tabs ul li {
float: left;
list-style: none outside none !important;
margin-right: 10px;
width: 300px;
}div#content form#forums-search-form.dir-form form#forums-directory-form.dir-form div.item-list-tabs ul li#forums-order-select.last {
display: block;
float: right;
margin-right: 35px;
margin-top: 3px;
position: relative;
width: 200px;
}`As for the hover background showing up in statc links, add/define background in regular links for item-nav e.g. #ffffff
In reply to: [Resolved] deleting page from the main menuYou’re welcome

Ok, I see the screenshot now. And yes, you have links to the Pages (text so small I can’t read them all) at the footer of your theme.
In actual site (home page) looking at page source, I see the empty div
``
wp_nav_menu is being called but not rendered. This is because the function is not supported in your theme.Open up functions.php file of your theme https://themes.svn.wordpress.org/bp-columns/1.2/functions.php
and add the following line just above closing `?>``add_action( ‘init’, ‘register_goldbrick_menus’ );
function register_goldbrick_menus() {
register_nav_menus(
array(
‘footer-menu’ => __( ‘Footer Menu’ )
)
);
}`
Then save and upload.Open up your footer.php and replace:
`<?php wp_nav_menu(
array(
‘theme_location’ => ”,
‘menu’ => ”,
‘container’ => ”,
‘container_class’ => ”,
‘container_id’ => ”,
‘menu_class’ => ”,
‘menu_id’ => ”
)
); ?>`with
` ‘footer-menu’ ) ); ?>`
Then save and upload.
In dashboard Appearance > Menus. Choose Footer Menu and add the links.
