Deactivate BuddyPress and BP plugins, test registration and check DB wp_users table, does registration generate 2 rows for that new user? At this point, I do recommend restarting from scratch – delete htaccess file and drop DB tables and re-upload WP files manually i.e. via FTP or cpanel. – got to have a good solid WP/BP foundation moving forward.
Ok, you made me double-check a database
Only one row per user.@v_andreev
– What versions of WP/BP are you using?
– Do you have any kind of membership plugin activated?
– You’re saying your found two rows per user in prefix_users table? In those two rows per user, do they both have same email address and username? Better yet, what is/are the only difference/s between the two rows?In reply to: How can I easily post images in the activity stream? Thanks @r-a-y, I knew I read it somewhere
In reply to: How can I easily post images in the activity stream?I read somewhere that @r-a-y might be adding support for other media to the oembed for BuddyPress plugin.
There’s a premium plugin, BP Gallery which can post images, audio, video to activity stream in addition to the regular single user and group galleries.
In reply to: Globalizing everything? I think? When you network activate BuddyPress, one of the widgets which comes up for use is the “Recent Sitewide Posts” widget which you can add to a dynamic sidbar of a BP-compatible theme. The list of recent sitewide posts rendered in sidebar has direct links to the subblogs where users have published their posts.
In reply to: Trac login – does not workCurious, did you get your username and login here at BuddyPress.org or at WordPress.org – don’t know if it makes a difference. I got mine at WordPress.org years ago and I can login to different WP/BP tracs.
=== I have a theme I have chosen for my main landing site (product info, testimonials, etc.) and want to set up buddypress as a subdomain while using s2member to implement paid-access to the buddypress network. ===
Sounds like a plan. Just “point” BuddyPress to the subdomain, secondary blog. https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/
=== My question is whether I have to create two WP sites within my domain (one standard WP for my landing and one BP for my paid network) ===
Go mutlsite/create a network with a subdomain structure so you can create a virtual subdomain for your paid network.
=== whether I can implement a BP theme for part of my site (the network) while maintaining my non-BP theme for the rest of my WP site. ===
Yes you can use regular WP theme in main site and should implement a BP or BP-compatible theme to subdomain.
=== what would then be the simplest way to bounce my clients who are already logged in straight onto the BP network upon landing without going through the usual sales page that is my landing. ===
If I was your client, I wouldn’t want to be “bounced” to a site I didn’t expect to enter. Provide a link straight to the BP site instead with something like a big button “Start Networking” or something like that.
In reply to: Need PluginsBP Gallery (premium) = images, audio and video albums for single users and groups
Preventing graphics upload during registration process is also an additional measure of security, even a little. Some jpg or jpeg images can contain viruses which can infect your whole installation.
In reply to: Need ExamplesClothes retailers I’ve seen in passing using WordPress install e-commerce plugins with or without BuddyPress. Check out some fashion sites using BP at http://www.bpinspire.com/high-quality-buddypress-sites/fashion. There’s also relatively “young” BuddyPress retailer shop riotcart.com which uses BuddyPress in a section of the site http://www.riotcart.com/groups.
Just to clarify, which group document are you referring to?
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-documents/ which hasn’t been updated since May 2010
or https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-docs/ connected to groups which has just been updated Feb 2011?In reply to: Add Top bar in new buddypress themeYou will need to install the BP Template Pack plugin to make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress.

You will need to install the BP Template Pack plugin to make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress.

https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/Other than that, you could create a bp-default child theme and tweak it to look like Platform theme.
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/Upgrade to latest version from @svenl77 and co. – http://themekraft.com/theme/custom-community/ v 1.7.0.2 and see if that fixes it.
EDIT – Also, download BuddyPress, unzip and re-upload manually to plugins folder i.e. via FTP or cpanel
In reply to: Buddypress links are broken after fresh installReally? And you only come back after 1 month to follow up?
In reply to: Buddpyress not finding users posts/commentsChange theme to bp-default theme. Clear cache. If this works then you have to contact custom theme developer.
It is in WP codex – https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Using_.22Pretty.22_permalinks
In reply to: BuddyPress throwing 404Deactivate BuddyPress and BP plugins. Run Settings > Permalinks and choose permalink other than default. https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Where.27s_my_.htaccess_file.3F and next topic below that is content of htaccess for single WP installation
Resolve WP installation before activating BuddyPress. Also if you plan to allow blogs for your users, create a network i.e. go multisite and resolve any issues before activating BuddyPress.
In reply to: BuddyPress throwing 404You need one or else you can’t use BuddyPress.

=== I was only working on the index.php file last night ===
Which index.php? You might want to revert that to original index.phpIn reply to: Confused about multisite install=== my only activation option for Buddypress is a network install? Does this mean everybody that has their own site will also have a BP-powered site? ===
BP is Network install but that does not mean that each site owner will also have a BP-powered site. There is only one instance of BP in a multisite installation, it just gathers data network-wide.
