In reply to: Adding menu items to the admin bar
@alanchrishughes yes create a blank bp-custom.php (not bp-functions.php) and paste on the code. Save and upload the bp-custom.php file to wp-content/plugins/ folder
Might be codes in custom theme have not been updated to latest BP version. Change theme to bp-default theme and see if same thing happens.
In reply to: BuddyPress admin bar is messed up by theme@vdfbelial Strange behavior indeed. What browser are you using? What theme? btw, your link to site leads to dead end.
In reply to: Where is admin?Because it is assumed that before one installs BuddyPress, one would already have a working knowledge of WordPress basics
In any case, you can always add the “Meta Widget” to your sidebar and you have the link to admin. Or, if you might prefer a link to dashboard in bp admin bar – http://www.darcynorman.net/2009/11/13/modifying-the-buddypress-adminbar/In reply to: Buddypress theme – no date on posts – only timeOpen up index.php of bp-default theme line 26

and see code here – http://buddypress.pastebin.com/iWdcBik4Here’s a tutorial to do that – http://buddydev.com/buddypress/using-activity-as-wire-in-buddypress-1-2-themes/
In reply to: Come Recommended@jeremyltn Nice. I agree with techguy re adding some links above-fold, “Employers”, “Candidates” and “Services” at least.
@techguy – this tutorial might help you getting a blog page in main site, Just make sure to delete the extra spaces between the ? and greater/less than symbols in code posted
In reply to: All blogs on the same main site?First of all, do not add switch_to_blog function on the bp-default theme which I now see you’re using on the main site. Let me clarify how to do this.
– If you have BP activated in main site, or blog_id_1, the theme or child theme you use for the main blog must not have the switch_to_blog function in navigation at all.
– You only use the switch_to_blog function in theme/s for the subblogs or subsites.if you want the main navigation of main site in your subblogsSo if you are going to use the twentyten theme for your subblogs, then this is what you replace:
http://buddypress.pastebin.com/GDKypDpU
then, copy/adjust the CSS from main site’s themeIn reply to: All blogs on the same main site?You will be adding the switch_to_blog function in the header.php of your theme/s for subblogs.
Using bp-default theme’s sample Code here – http://buddypress.pastebin.com/MafW4WNU
If you are using different theme then you would have to add the 2nd code to your theme replacing the wp_list_pages or the wp_page_menu template tag in your theme’s header.phpIn reply to: All blogs on the same main site?@lisalove – if you want to have the same main navigation throughout the site then use the switch_to_blog function that andrea_r above posted or copy the HTML of the main navigation in main blog and paste that in all the themes you uploaded for your members to use in their own blogs.
In reply to: Error while uploading .smf filesYou can use Kimili plugin if you only need to upload .swf or .flv files in regular Posts/Pages in backend. But for BuddyPress, right now the only bp-compatible plugin which allows upload and display of .swf or .flv files is the BP Gallery Plugin, which is not released to public yet.
In reply to: Buddypress Article Slideshow“incorporate an article/post slideshow into the Thematic theme”
Getting the slideshow to work is more on the WordPress side … if you’re making a slideshow of the posts/articles in your site. BuddyPress doesn’t have anything to do with the slideshow … unless you’re making a slideshow of BP Gallery images or members or groups, etc.Furthermore, since you’re using the Thematic theme (which has a BuddyPress-compatible version/adaptation), might I point you to the Thematic Forums since they can assist you better in choosing best slideshow/plugin for your site http://themeshaper.com/forums/
In reply to: Member Profile Page@carmelo2 the author/s of that premium theme should be able to assist you – I do believe they do provide free support for their paid themes.

Btw, the code I posted above works at least in WPMU install and WPMU upgraded to WP 3.0In reply to: Features that could help bloom BP@brokenforum “Tell us what to support you with, is it design layout, programming on a specific feature? “

In reply to: BP Admin Bar just not displaying.Check if your theme’s footer.php has the wp_footer() hook. If not add it to just before closing [/body]
In reply to: Exporting and Importing Buddypress ContentBackup database of whole installation and backup server WP/BP files and folders – don’t forget to get backup of .htaccess and wp-config.php file in root as well.
If you’re keeping same domain name and just pointing it to new webhost, it’s a simple process.
If you’re changing domain name and getting new webhost. You’d need to do a search and replace of site URL in backup SQL file and import to new database.In reply to: Same user database in two websiteYou need to be more specific about which two sites you are trying to sync member database. Two WP sites, easy to do. External software like phpBB, Gallery2, etc. require plugins to bridge membership with WP site.
In reply to: Wrong support forum mixupI’m getting a different result. Never fear, you can download BuddyPress Template Pack from wp.org – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/
In reply to: is_admin for group admin, can’t find it?“the function where by if your are member it just displays the group or if you are the admin of the group it displays the group setting and so on”
That’s how it is already set up actually. If I didn’t get what you meant though, you can also use https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-restrict-group-creation/ or check source code for more info.edit – too slow mercime
In reply to: Admin bar links not working“This is running on a yahoo small business hosting plan.”
Have you asked them if they have successfully installed BuddyPress before? I think you should. I have seen others use yahoo for single WP in wp.org forums, but never wpmu/multisite much less BuddyPress.Please clarify, as I’m getting this from your post above:
That you have one WPMU installation. You installed BP in e.g. blog_id_2 and then removed BP there and now pointed it to another user’s blog in e.g. blog_id_4.
– Did you add/change wp-config.php to point to new blog_id_4?
define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, $blog_id );
so e.g. define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 4 );
– Check Settings > Reading – have you changed the static front page from Activity to WP default settings?
