    This plug in completely breaks in new theme not just the layout, it doesn’t show videos at all just the link.

    Works fine in older theme.

    Interesting thread.

    Has anybody been on FB lately? All the content is micro posts via activity streams and the new default theme mimics this activity. The only thing that I see should be added to that flow is the opportunity to add media to a micro post from the front end of bp.

    Somebody make that plugin and i’ll buy it TODAY!

    Nobody is blogging as much anymore as the twitter-fication of the web has taken over. The new web is micro-post reply, micro-post reply rinse repeat.

    child themes just exploit CSS cascading. I have figured out what files to move to create custom page templates. I just dumped the whole frame work into the child folder and that didn’t work.

    Though I must say no one will be able to just use any WP theme with this new structure unless they do some editing of files. That’s really gonna stop a mass use of Buddypress. But hey it’s ok for me as it will allow me to make mad cash creating Buddypress themes :)

    So getting the hang of the new structure but it’s major musical chairs with the files to get it to work with a WP theme. Once people start creating Buddypress enabled WP themes it’s gonna be cake to customize.

    further thinking… should I copy framework theme folder and then use the copied folder as the parent?

    try adding a direct link to style sheet in header

    <link rel=\”stylesheet\” href=\”http://illdesigned.com/user/wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/css/base.css\” type=\”text/css\” media=\”screen\” />

    I meant that when I change the code the selected class is still choosing the newest. Like the page loads and it thinks the widget is displaying newest but I changed this

    <?php $users = BP_Core_User::get_newest_users( $options[‘max_members’] ) ?>

    to this

    <?php $users = BP_Core_User::get_active_users( $options[‘max_members’] ) ?>

    There are less sign ups than activity so I wanted the widget to show the activity first.

    The structure is better but not perfect. The home theme and the member theme should be from the same folder. Seems like the member theme should just work like extra pages on the main blog 1. This would make themeing easier. I think most people will want the same design for front pages (blog 1) as the member pages so to separate the two is odd.

    uhhg. Wrecked my member theme. But I must say the structure is way better.

    isn’t the person who created the blog the admin? I tried to get the profile avatar but the problem is each profile is considered a blog so to get using the bp avatar does not work just shows the default grey man.

    My site only has one writer per blog. This seems like the right way to go for buddypress. Since it’s a social platform having a blog connected to the users profile makes the most sense. Or, just getting rid of extra blogs and incorporate one blog per user inside profile.

    I use the share this code. You can put it pretty much any where. It has all the top bookmarking sites, email sending and twitter posting.

    I changed the url in the code to a folder on my host and when the blog is created it outputs an identicon name which is a number string. I would manually create and edit each one but for some reason after moving hosts this does not work anymore. I had to change the code back to show the generic ones. This is even buggy now.

    I am going to play around with it more. Each person has a personal blog on my site so I want the identicon to reflect that user.

    The recent blog post widget does not show the correct order of when a post is made. It is a bit random. Is this because the time stamp of people are from different time zones?

    I’m referring to the generic avatar that BP uses when creating a blog. I want to change this to the person who created that blog.

    what you suggest is the wp mu avatars that has nothing to do with BP

    I added regular links with no php and the selected class just does not work. It’s like something is saying do not use this class. If I have the normal links that come with BP the selected class works fine but if I add my own links it does not work. Spent an entire day trying to figure out what is doing this and decide to just forget it and removed selected from BP nav.

    I have this problem. I even wrote new buttons from scratch with unique id’s and still the selected css attribute would not work.

    ok so now you can get to url no database error but it shows a 404. I’m not sure I have the domain set right. I have @ set to ip * set to ip and each subdomain set to ip in a record.

    should be a core option. The admin can choose to have a random password or let user input.
