In reply to: HEY! Where did the BP-Media support forum go??`”Your post above contradicts your earlier post, and I’m confused at what exactly you think we could do differently to improve your experience.”`
In my first post I responded to @Foxly so no wonder you are taking it the wrong as it won’t make sense to you. I was saying to another third party dev that USING this site for personal support forum is not the best, not that this site sucks.
You’re right, this is the support site for BP not third party plugins. I thought using the group forums here would be a good way to keep things organized and do a little general support for BuddyPress while I was here but I need something to better manage things.
Keep calm and carry on.
In reply to: HEY! Where did the BP-Media support forum go??JJJ you’re being too sensitize to the word “sucks”. I mean it sucks for ME.
Yeah I was an admin in my plugin groups but 50% of support was posted in the general forums with now way for me to move or merge or close/resolve. This caused me to answer the same silly questions over and over because a user would go to that plugins forum and not find answer and instead of posting it would get posted in the third party general forums.
My reaction is to Foxly stating that these forums are not so good for a serious support forum. Trolling through a bunch of garbage to get to serious issues is a waste of time that could be spent on development.
Not a problem anymore, I’ve moved support and I’m using bbpress. Guess I’ll quit posting here then.
In reply to: HEY! Where did the BP-Media support forum go??Well this site sucks for using it as a plugins support forum when you are just a user and have no way to edit or delete or close topics in YOUR OWN PLUGINS SUPPORT FORUM. This is why I closed my plugin forums here and created a site to handle support.
In reply to: How to see your OWN forum topicsIn your image you see the drop down saying no filter. Choose forum topics or replies
In reply to: [resolved] Child theme – change default avatarDon’t wrap define in a function.
In reply to: Buddypress Stalker – Possible Additions?Some of these suggestions are being added to a future release.
In reply to: Struggling with child themesNo, do not copy. Create a blank functions.php file and add your own custom functions.
In reply to: How to see your OWN forum topicsI know there are links but page is blank. It may get a dedicated page like before, I’m showing you how to get to that content now.
In reply to: Struggling with child themesBuddyPress still loads the core CSS you are better off creating a functions.php file in your child theme folder and enqueueing a custom.css file
`function add_my_stylesheet() {
wp_enqueue_style(‘custom’, get_bloginfo(‘stylesheet_directory’) . ‘/custom.css’);
}
add_action(‘wp_enqueue_style’, ‘add_my_stylesheet’);`In reply to: Just looking for some guidance or suggestions..All of these things are possible with modification and existing plugins.
Welcome to open source, you’re going to love it as there are many pieces of the code puzzle already created for you,especially with WordPress and BuddyPress. If you do get involved in open source projects please give back by releasing your custom code to be used freely by others. Any plugin/theme you get from wordpress.org is under a GPL license and you can take that code and do whatever you wish with it.
You can use the s2 membership plugin with BuddyPress to create a membership site.

If it’s a members page use bp_core_fetch_avatar()
In reply to: Buddypress WIDGET THEMEIt’s not the widget theme this is a bug with BuddyPress CSS
In reply to: Buddypress WIDGET THEMEIt’s a bug. reported it: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3868
In reply to: BuddyPress Mobile: editing the profile layoutThe template files are on the plugin folder, you can change whatever you want.
In reply to: Buddypress WIDGET THEMEYou have something installed that is messing with the CSS. I activated this theme on my dev site http://dev.buddiphone.com.
I’m not getting the same issue. The widget theme is using the CSS and header from bp-default so it can’t be this theme causing the issue.
Get rid of user_has_access and site_admin_only
use:
if ( !is_user_logged_in() && !is_super_admin() )
return false;In reply to: a single interface for all posting on a siteWordPress as well as BuddyPress has little hooks that when certain actions are accomplished it will run a function. So BuddyPress as hooked in the the post hook and posts an activity update about that blog post. You probably could do the opposite but the activity update is missing some content a post would require, like the title as the activity update is just content.
Another issue would be to separate out what is considered a blog post and what is not on posting. I personally would not go this route because of user confusion. Look into using a separate post form for front end blog posting. There are many topics here about adding a front end blog posting form.
In reply to: Auto generating blank member profiles1) users can edit their own profile link is below the profile tab
2) post this topic in the followers plugin forum
3) when you create a user it bypasses the WordPress activation sequence. You will need to create a custom solution. An easy way is to use the BuddyPress notification system and send a site wide message telling all users to change their password.In reply to: a single interface for all posting on a siteActivity items are saved in a separate db table so they are completely disconnected from WordPress posts. The activity streams is meant more for quick short status updates.
In reply to: Auto generating blank member profilesCreate a page in admin titled bp-mobile and add stuff as you would when creating a page
In reply to: Unusual Problem with FavoritesDid you add these:
Set a custom user database table for BuddyPress (and WordPress to use):
define ( ‘CUSTOM_USER_TABLE’, $tablename );Set a custom usermeta database table for BuddyPress (and WordPress to use):
define ( ‘CUSTOM_USER_META_TABLE’, $tablename );In reply to: Auto generating blank member profilesYeah, all Facebook/twitter logins create fake emails.
