Try adding it to your own site and see …
‘admin’ is the name of the admin user so, e.g. …
http://yoursite.com/members/yourname/blogs/recent-posts/
I got there via …
BP Homepage > pick a your member name > under “ME” column > Blogs > under “MY BLOGS” column > “Recent posts”
Yes, I am using sub-domains. No, I did not go back and forward.
If the plugin does not work with sub-domains … <i>which, let’s face it, are pretty core to WPMU</i> … then I suggest that it would be good practise to add a block, warning or at least instructions during the setting up process which prohibits the use of the plugin.
There is nothing in the readme either.
‘example’ and ‘example.com’ is just the usual ‘example’ computerspeak not the actual name used.
The header error as above happen on the first and every attempt at blog creation, not going back and forward.
I went forward until the white error page. I could neither go back nor forward. When I came out of the plugin set up, I discovered that it had partly set up the blog on the home page (<i>but that other elements of groupblog did not work of it did not work</i>). It stalls on stage 3.
I also found that previously made groups (<i>made before the groupblog installation</i>), did not have a blog and I could not make a blog for them.
As for the rest, see my perfectly polite and helpful comments … here.
Can I also say, for the future, it would be a really great feature if, when removing the plugin, it removed (or gave the option to remove) all the changes it made to one’s database.
Its a really great idea but perhaps … in all fairness … you should reduce it from a 1.0 + release for just now until it does work?
Marius,
If you read the English, it was a comment regarding the WordPress Export function (which exports posts and page but not it seems the blogroll) … not your plugin.
That seems like an awfully strange and unnecessary omission … and a PITA to administer when it comes to having rebuild a community by hand.
I am sorry but spending one’s times to ‘beta testing’ other folks’ software, and bug reporting back, is also service to the community and improves it.
Nothing good comes from being oversensitive about fair observations … especially those addressed in polite enough terms to others.
I don’t think it is a problem with volunteers. Automattic could just pay people to do the work, or hold an account with a translation company. It is not as though it is a huge piece of work to upkeep. Look e.g. how Mediawiki or PHPBB handles it. It only account for 10s of kb.
(Actually, in my case, Automattic has recently hired bi-lingual Japanese staff and I will be interested to see how they are used).
The problem of language files seems to be a problem that needs addressed at the core of WP, centralized, made much easier to handle and more effective.
Now that Buddypress is part of the stable, I am hoping it is also developed as an international device. I am glad to read that there is awareness of this on the development side ….
what responses about it do you get back from the main developers?
In reply to: New Groupblog PluginTo make things worse … when I go to:
http://example.com/members/admin/blogs/recent-posts/
I am confronted by a list of invisible posts … no titles, no content … all it has is:
“in Uncategorized by”
9 times, or whatever.
even though NO SUCH POSTS exist in the Admin > Posts section.
I pointed out that when you disable this plugin it does not disable any blogs created by it.
How do I get rid of these? How much else has been left behind in the database?
I have disabled the plugin, deleted the blogs it half made, deleted the test posts … yet still these remain.
Thanks.
In reply to: New Groupblog PluginWhat am I missing? See other post here;

When I go to create a blog, I get this on step 3. It creates the blog but happens every time. Not good for user confidence.
Thanks,

I gave up stumbling in darkness and had to remake the blogs in order that they are seen and recognised by Buddypress. A process not helped by WordPress not exporting all information in its admin Export feature.
Serious omission in the code here folks …
In reply to: Existing blog doesn't show up in BuddyPressThe only way to fix it is to delete the older blogs and remake them manually.
Of course, for some crappy reason, WordPress does not actually export a complete archive when you use the admin ‘Export’ function.
This means the fixing a lot of details manually, e.g. Links/blogroll are not archived and all image addresses need to be corrected individually.
The reference to language packs on Windows is misleading.
It is a shame that there is not better support for other languages than English …
Given the size of the main non-English/Roman script markets, e.g China, Japan, Korea, are Automattic going to include such expansion into their business plan now they have received the big, multi-million dollar funding?
In reply to: buddybar wont go away after deactivationIf so … stick up a few links to let folk know how or examples of cool hack then, please.
The search is utterly misleading at present. I had to take it off because it is just plain wrong.
One naturally suspects ‘search’ searches the website it is on. Yet, it only search a single blog on that website … is that not true? It does not even search the obvious; ‘users’, ‘blogs’ or ‘groups’, never mind the content of those.
I suppose the WPMU search does not even any the BP tables yet, right? I guess the way is to go via the Google sitewise search hack at present? Not great but at least *something*.
Has anyone tried/hacked Sphider to work on WPMU/BP?
Erich, f you work out how to cut out the A to Z out and instead add a sort, at least, by ‘Newest | Active | Popular’, please let me know.
Does anyone know what to feed into where?
Yes, I think this is a problem which will stick around as long as folks are migrating from WPMU to Buddypress.
So it does deserve a fix, preferably in the core.
It is beyond me … I have looked in all the tables but cannot see it at all.
The search function sucks. It is not sitewide.
As far as I can see, it only search the admin’s blog which is pretty pointless. There are a few sitewide search option plugins.
Try: http://welcome.totheinter.net/wpsearchmu/
I have not so I have no idea how well it works. Requires hackery.
Well, numericals they sure could add in one column … but I think you are right to just dump the A to Z then.
In reply to: BuddyPress MultilingualCongratulations. You should be hired and paid by Automattic right away.
Multi-lingual webapps should be the default.
Let’s work to encourage multi-language social networking.
Looking forward to a 1.1 release.
In reply to: buddybar wont go away after deactivationA dropdown admin bar, that hides itself, would be nice as a standard option.
At the very least it dominates all theme design at present, at worst it interferes with the lay out of others themes.
In reply to: Removing default Avatars from Blog Listing ViewWell, let’s face it …
a) it is an UI that is inconsistent at present and needs fixed, and
b) the automatic gravatars are awful (ain’t seen no one defend them nor customise a theme to suit them!) and they could at least be replaced with a blank.
And both have been recognised as such.
I tried dropping a simple <img> tag into to place and with a little css, I suspect that would work just as a spaceholder/blank to keep consistency.
In reply to: Existing blog doesn't show up in BuddyPressYes. Logged in and posted. Posts show, blogs don’t.
I have looked but have had no luck with this at all. I cannot see at all where Buddypress keeps its list of recognised blogs.
To add to this, I have also discovered that both WPMU and Buddypress seem to suffer from this disease … so it might be more WPMU related. I found older blogs and posts which should have been deleted still existing in my database.
That is just a guess though.
Is there a good way/plugin to clean out all inactive cruft from WPMU/Buddypress? Does BP even have a working uninstaller? I might have to rebuild from scratch … which I was trying to avoid.
In reply to: buddybar wont go away after deactivationI have just been wrestling with similar trying to deactivate the admin bar with BP still running. I can get rid of the text using the remove-bp-adminbar.php plugin but not the graphic bar.
At the very least, is there a plugin to have a dropdown BP admin bar on all sites?
In reply to: Removing default Avatars from Blog Listing ViewI suppose the obvious thing to do then, if offer a choice … or nothing … as a choice, e.g. one could have a single, uploaded, ‘site default’ avatar.
Choosing the creator/admin of the blog would be the obvious thing to do by default.
In reply to: group slugs when i18n environmentBIG bump ….
I hope some of those $29,500,000 Matt Mullenweg has raised for WordPress/Buddypress goes into an internationalizing campaign.
I would like to see a mature MULTI-LINGUAL environment … not just single stand alone versions (… my interest is in Chinese, Korean and Japanese versions).
To be honest, given that Web 2.0 is all about “communication” … would not it be wonderful is we could build multi-national communities?
Sure it even makes sense from a business point of view given the size of those markets.
If WP/BP will never hack it … can anyone recommend any other native language blogs/CMS packages?
In reply to: Removing default Avatars from Blog Listing ViewYah, it is strange and inconsistent … on ‘home’ the members’ chosen avatar shows nicely.
On ‘blogs’ it shows the awful gravatar prismatic thing.
I understand that members and blogs are two different things but, at least, it could default to the members’ avatar.
Is it possible to use the code from the home page? Or does it not tie the user to their blog?
In reply to: Existing blog doesn't show up in BuddyPressI have tried toggling on and off privacy and that does not make any difference.
Buddypress is 1.1.2 – Theme is default Buddypress theme.
However, if I make a new blog, that blog *IS* shown in the ‘user’s blog’ list.
Can anyone tell me where in the database this information is held and so, perhaps, I can hand edit for old blogs?
Thanks.
In reply to: Existing blog doesn't show up in BuddyPressI get this problem as well.
Installed WPMU 2.8.4 > blogs working fine > installed latest BP > existing blogs do not show up.
Under User Blgogs’ it says …. user “hasn’t created any public blogs yet”. When obviously they have.
