In reply to: members slug
BP_MEMBERS_SLUGis a constant defined – so if bp is initialized you can use that.bp_core_get_user_domain( $user_id )will return the member’s url – e.g. http://domain.com/ BP_MEMBERS_SLUG / username / – (also ifBP_ENABLE_ROOT_PROFILESis used or not)works in the theme’s function.php file (also make sure you don’t have curly quotes – at least copying the above code resulted in)
Same issue if you disable all other plugins?
the activity type (or action when passing it into the loop) for blog comments is “new_blog_comment” so just comma delimit:
$query_string .= ‘&action=activity_update,new_blog_comment’;
In reply to: Add total group topics as total group membersSorry, I was only posting the idea of what you can do, I don’t particularly have the time to code a solution. Though I do not recommend hacking the core files as there is a function to remove the subnav.
In reply to: I’s all about colours & usabilitythere are a few filters on the css class used in various components – for example: (for activity streams)
http://etivite.com/groups/buddypress/forum/topic/quick-tip-highlight-friends-following-own-activity-stream-items/#topicyou could change up the logic to include the site admin or other various roles/caps
In reply to: Private Message Notification Ghost…i believe this will be fixed in 1.2.6
In reply to: Add total group topics as total group membersthe subnav is not setup for a string replacement on the “Forums” tab for a dynamic count
bp_core_new_subnav_item( array( ‘name’ => __( ‘Forum’, ‘buddypress’ ), ‘slug’ => ‘forum’, ‘parent_url’ => $group_link, ‘parent_slug’ => $bp->groups->slug, ‘screen_function’ => ‘groups_screen_group_forum’, ‘position’ => 40, ‘user_has_access’ => $bp->groups->current_group->user_has_access, ‘item_css_id’ => ‘forums’ ) );
vs
bp_core_new_subnav_item( array( ‘name’ => sprintf( __( ‘Members (%s)’, ‘buddypress’ ), number_format( $bp->groups->current_group->total_member_count ) ), ‘slug’ => ‘members’, ‘parent_url’ => $group_link, ‘parent_slug’ => $bp->groups->slug, ‘screen_function’ => ‘groups_screen_group_members’, ‘position’ => 60, ‘user_has_access’ => $bp->groups->current_group->user_has_access, ‘item_css_id’ => ‘members’ ) );
You could remove and re-add the Forums subnav and include the sprintf call and reference this function
bp_forums_get_forum_topicpost_count( $forum_id )will grab the count for all posts (including topics) for a given forum_id (but in buddypress the bbpress forum_id is stored in groups_get_groupmeta( $bp->groups->current_group->id, ‘forum_id’ ) )you may also want to look at BP_Groups_Group::get_global_forum_topic_count but that is an overall general count – this function could be duplicated and changed to a per forum_id basis.
In reply to: WordPress 3.0 + Buddypress — User Creation Problems?Just some basic questions: multisite (which is important as a different process)? registration steps completed? data in mysql for a failed user signup? (check _users->”user_status” and _usermeta->meta_key->”activation_key”)
I was pointing out the php file and functions – if you wanted see the flow of the signup. (wp_insert_user, setting user_status, generating and saving activation_key, sending activation email to user). You mentioned “My install of wordpress does send emails successfully, until I activate Buddypress (then it breaks).” BuddyPress uses the same WordPress functions to send an email – so nothing changes in that regard but maybe some weird oddity in your setup causing a null email address or some other unpredictable result.
In reply to: WordPress 3.0 + Buddypress — User Creation Problems?everyone here is a volunteer and may not read every single thread or know the answer to every unique issue. probably does not help when being a bit off-putting.
All sign-up steps work until the confirmation message? what is the status in the users table for the failed signup user? does each failed signup user have an activation key in the usermeta table? if so – that at least tells us the
bp_core_signup_userprocess works upbp_core_signup_send_validation_email(which only builds the email message and executes wp_mail() )have a look in buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-signup.php at the functions and steps.
if you are using multisite, then it is a different process
buddypress requires certain steps (such as activation, avatars, profile, xprofile, activity) in the signup process
the code in the paste bin does not reference a valid filter or action hook.
bp_dtheme_post_updateis a function hooked on the actionwp_ajax_post_updateyou would need to drill down to bp_activity_post_update or groups_post_update – depending on the object type
i’d go with appending the sig within the templatetags instead of updating (what if they changed the sig after posting an update?)
ie, on the filter bp_get_activity_content_body
@modemlooper only on group forum topics/posts
but if someone is using the group forum extras signature plugin – the data is stored in get_userdata under signature which you could use this internal function to retrieve it
bp_forum_extras_signatures_fetch_user_signature( $passintheuser_id )In reply to: Buddypress followers pluginquickly glancing over the follower’s plugin code – i don’t see anything that hooks like how the friends component does
add_action( 'wpmu_delete_user', 'friends_remove_data' );
add_action( 'delete_user', 'friends_remove_data' );
add_action( 'make_spam_user', 'friends_remove_data' );
In reply to: Alternative to bbpressthe bbpress plugin will make things easier (right now with how buddypress wraps bbpress internally is a bit messy with “removing” features/hooks)
In reply to: Buddypress followers plugini would contact Andy if his plugin is causing a conflict.
i wrote an experimental plugin that will replace (or tack on) activity comments to a blog post – (only tested it on the main blog)
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-activity-as-blog-comments/
(example: http://etivite.com/2010/04/what-does-it-mean/ )In reply to: Forum create only available to certain membersheh – what i get for one cup of coffee this morning. updated the code around the select option bit (just copied it in the wrong spot as it needs to be within the has_groups loop)
In reply to: Forum create only available to certain membersjust updated – sorry i forgot to swap in the proper templatetags and the option list
In reply to: Useful plugins requiredhave a look at @boonebgorges plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-external-activity/ and you could modify that to attach to usermeta vs groupmeta
In reply to: Forum create only available to certain membersIn reply to: Showing latest forum posts in home pageyou can call out the loop
bp_has_forum_topics('no_stickies=no&type=newest&page=false&max=5')have a look at the default/groups/single/forum/topic.php for an example
or if you use the group forum extras plugin – i have a widget for latest topics bundled in the index subplugin
In reply to: shorten activity excerptsyou could shorten them via a filter prior to updating the db. it just depends on the component as each have their own filter on the content.
ie
'content' => apply_filters( 'bp_activity_new_update_content', $activity_content ),or the filter on the activity templatetag
apply_filters( 'bp_get_activity_content_body', $activities_template->activity->content, &$activities_template->activity );use the redirect_to param (either get or hidden)
what i use on each topic but just a link to the login form.
$bp->root_domain . '/wp-login.php?redirect_to=' . urlencode( site_url() . $_SERVER )
