In reply to: [Resolved] Video embedding
Can you give us examples of the embed code? When you post in this forum make sure to surround the code with:
<code>
</code>In reply to: Activity Stream – “XYZ User has a new avatar”Or would that be:
function my_activity_avatar_changed() {//then pass in whatever array args you want to the activity item
xprofile_record_activity( $user_id, $component );
echo ("$user_id->display_name has a new $component");
}
add_action(‘xprofile_avatar_uploaded’,'my_activity_avatar_changed’);
In reply to: @mentions is confusing to membersI think he still wants the ability to tag people in posts, just not have to use the @username method. Basically a more semantic method… which is kind of like asking for the moon. I think it can be done, it’d just be a huge pain to code.
In reply to: Remove specific blogs from Directory?I know that with CSS you could make the fonts invisible and the image to small to see… but that’s probably not what you’re after.
Excited about the social media links plugin. Make sure to upload it to the plugins directory.
In reply to: Activity Stream – “XYZ User has a new avatar”So I’m looking at this page. Would these be the 10 appropriate variables?
'user_id' => $bp->loggedin_user->id,
'action' => '',
'content' => '',
'primary_link' => '',
'component' => $bp->profile->id,
'type' => false,
'item_id' => false,
'secondary_item_id' => false,
'recorded_time' => gmdate( "Y-m-d H:i:s" ),
'hide_sitewide' => false
So for example?
function my_activity_avatar_changed() {//then pass in whatever array args you want to the activity item
xprofile_record_activity( $user_id, $component );
echo ("$user_id has a new $component
");
}
add_action(‘xprofile_avatar_uploaded’,'my_activity_avatar_changed’);In reply to: Activity Stream – “XYZ User has a new avatar”I’ve been studying the WP and BP Core structure and the Buddypress Like plugin files for the last several hours. I feel kind of stupid that this is all I can come up with for now. I know there’s a bunch wrong with it. but I have to start somewhere. Does this look like the right form?
if (xprofile_avatar_uploaded == true) {function bp_new_avatar_uploaded() {
echo "$user_id has updated their avatar";
}
add_action ('bp_activity_filter_options', 'bp_new_avatar_uploaded');}
In reply to: Different font sizes for various activity itemsAh, interesting idea. It kind of furthers the idea of having different sized avatars.
And what did support@apollohosting-inc.com say when you contacted them?
In reply to: BP- Album +Actually, you’ll want to ask that in the plugin’s forum here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/forum/
In reply to: Activity Stream – “XYZ User has a new avatar”code sample?
In reply to: Activity Stream – “XYZ User has a new avatar”:bump:
In reply to: hiding content from non logged in membersYou’ll find this useful.
In reply to: Activity replies not showingAh, glad that you figured that one out. What server were you using previously and which one are you using now?
In reply to: Activity Stream – “XYZ User has a new avatar”@hempsworth, do you have any insights on this?
In reply to: Adding a background imageWhoops, yes, you’re absolutely right. I use child themes myself. Just a slip of the mind.
In reply to: Adding a background imageOpen the theme file in website.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/style.css
On the very last line add
body {background:url(/images/shuswapsocialnetworkbackground.jpg) no-repeat !important;}
FTP that back to your site and see if it makes the change. Double check that your URL path for your jpg is valid too.
In reply to: Buddypress needs to STOP supporting bbPressI think that a savvy plugin-author would integrate BP with another opensource platform like phpBB. That way the energies of the phpBB team would be harnessed to BP use.
It’s kind of like horses and a wagon. phpBB is the horse and BP is the wagon. There’s no need to breed, grow, and train a horse from birth for your wagon. Just buy one that someone else has raised and hitch it to your wagon.
But all of that is much easier said than done. @dennis_h, are you a coder?
In reply to: An argument against unified search. (sort of)Actually, I’m a proponent of unified search. Is that a feature or BP 1.2.4 I hope?
In reply to: renaming tabsYou can either edit the header.php file of your theme, or create your own custom language file. I’d probably try the latter: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-to-rename-the-favorite-button-on-the-activity-stream/
In reply to: BuddyPress.org’s Unified Search – How can I get it?Actually, from first blush I was under the impression that unified search would be a feature of BP 1.2.4. Am I wrong?
In reply to: users editing their postsI agree that a feature for editing activity stream items would be nice. Not even admins can do that.
In reply to: Minor CSS FixWas this for the BP default theme?
In reply to: Privacy component–where is it?Can’t wait either… Privacy would/will be phenomenal…
In reply to: BP Album+ || New Features Requests and Discussion@foxly, @francescolaffi, Congratulations on your GSoC acceptance!

Even if all the new features aren’t added yet, I would just love to be able to give this functionality to my community. What do you think the timeline is for the first “production-ready” release?
