In reply to: Default role for new users within BuddyPress?
A user should be able to post to their activity stream even at the lowest WP role.
testbp.org is an example of that.
Ahh I see what you’re doing there!
I requested a new action before the topics loop so something like a group listings loop can go right there:
Link to attachment is broken.
Looking forward to your progress, Rich!
In reply to: Issue with default groups widgetDon’t trial and error functions!
Look in bp-core-templatetags.php to find conditionals.
It takes less than five minutes to do this.
bp_is_my_profile()
bp_is_directory()
bp_is_profile_component()
bp_is_activity_component()
bp_is_blogs_component()
etc.
It’s all there.
[EDIT]
Just updated the conditional template tags page in the codex:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/conditional-template-tags/
In reply to: Users are not being added to the Main Blog?If you have a backup of your files and DB, you can always revert, but I guess it’s too late for that.
Anyway, because this sounds like a WPMU problem, you might want to head on over to the WPMU forums and explain your case there:
https://mu.wordpress.org/forums
How did you make the move to WPMU? That could be the problem.
Also does this problem occur if you use the default BP theme?
In reply to: Users are not being added to the Main Blog?Hope you knew that you didn’t need to move to WPMU for BuddyPress now… you can use standard WP since BP 1.2.
In reply to: User related pages redirect to the homepageTry setting the following in wp-config.php:
define( 'BP_ENABLE_USERNAME_COMPATIBILITY_MODE', true );For more info, read this:

Hey Ted,
A ticket is already created:

Bumping ticket to major.
In reply to: the_post_thumbnail & the activity streamThe function you’re looking for is bp_activity_thumbnail_content_images() in bp-activity.php.
There’s a filter you can apply to that function – “bp_activity_thumbnail_content_images”.
In reply to: How to Integrate WP & BP Search CategoriesI’d rather use a widget conditional plugin like Widget Context or Widget Logic for the sidebar.
Widget Context is best for non-coders.
In reply to: BP GroupBlog, P2 ready (with bugs)! Please review…Very nice, Marius!
I love how you’re using activity comments to power the blog post replies:
http://sandbox.ywamcloud.com/the-apple-experience/2010/03/21/enter-a-title-for-your-post/
However, if you have â€Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?†set to â€Yes†in the BP admin area, I’m guessing this wouldn’t work. If possible, would love to see Groupblog override this option when a group blog is enabled.
—
Agree with Bowe about blog status updates. I would like to see an option to disable status updates for blogs. It’s a little redundant b/c of the group activity stream.
—
I must be daft, but I couldn’t find the alternate layout options screen.
I know there’s a lot planned for this plugin, but I’m loving it so far!
In reply to: Admin Bar HTML FileIt’s not a HTML file, but rather a function that is located in /buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php.
What are you specifically trying to do?
If you’re trying to modify the BuddyBar, read this:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/modifying-the-buddypress-admin-bar/
Requires a bit of manual coding.
Or you can also try this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-admin-bar-mods/
Here’s a guide by Adam Wulf:
http://welcome.totheinter.net/2009/05/06/changing-wordpress-mu-from-subdomains-to-subdirectories/
You should probably look at the “Auto Join Groups” plugin:
http://brentandmary.net/2009/10/24/bn-auto-join-group-plugin/
It does what you want it to do, but automatically from the admin area.
Haven’t tested this in BP 1.2 though.
Might want to contact the dev of that plugin if it doesn’t work.

Also it is quite easy to modify DJPaul’s Welcome Pack plugin to auto-join groups as well.
See my post here:

Update:
Just came across a plugin called “BP Registration Groups”:
http://hardlyneutral.com/wordpress-plugins/
Purports to do exactly what you want, Bowe.
In reply to: bbpress and buddypressYou could create one group that all people join when they register.
Use DJPaul’s Welcome Pack plugin for that:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/welcome-pack/
Otherwise go the external bbPress route, and yes, you’ll need to theme it.
[EDIT]
Forgot that Paul changed his plugin so it sends out group invites, instead of auto joining groups.
If you want to make Paul’s plugin automatically join groups.
Change the following lines in the Welcome Pack plugin from:
groups_invite_user( array( 'user_id' => $new_user_id, 'group_id' => $group_id, 'inviter_id' => $group->creator_id ) );
groups_send_invites( $group->creator_id, $group_id );to:
groups_join_group( $group_id, $new_user_id );I should say I haven’t tried this, but it should work.
In reply to: BP Album+ || New Features Requests and DiscussionIn reply to: very strange actingYou should contact Brajesh @ buddydev.com – since he’s the creator of that theme.
Redirect in .htaccess doesn’t slow anything down.
It’s really minimal.
Starting from scratch would be best!
Oh okay… wasn’t sure if the “site” urls were giving you a 404.
If it doesn’t give you a 404 , leave it as-is! If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it

[EDIT]
Just checking out your site, it appears the “site” urls do not get redirected, they standalone on their own.
You might want to apply the redirect rules I wrote above, otherwise you’ll have duplicate content. Not a big deal though if you don’t care about that.
—
New activity stream entries will be correct. Old ones will not.
If it’s in the activity stream, then yes, it’s cached.
You’ll have to manually change the entries in the DB or write up a few RewriteRules in .htaccess to redirect the old “site” urls.
You could try this in .htaccess:
RedirectMatch 301 ^/site/members/(.*)$ http://example.com/members/$1
RedirectMatch 301 ^/site/groups/(.*)$ http://example.com/groups/$1
RedirectMatch 301 ^/site/blogs/(.*)$ http://example.com/blogs/$1
RedirectMatch 301 ^/site/forums/(.*)$ http://example.com/forums/$1Change example.com to your URL.
This is if you’re still using the first method,.
Yeah it is kind of a hack, isn’t it? :p
Might want to post this in Trac:
https://trac.buddypress.org/newticket
Put something about using the blog URL vs. the WordPress URL for standard WP:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
If you want the “curemates” thing to work, I would remove the function snippet that I posted above and try the second method.
Glad it works! Phew!
[EDIT]
Yeah sure make a new thread.
Thanks Greg and Peter for testing Justin’s plugin.
I’m going to wait until you guys have ironed out all the bugs before I try this
