I think the second method will do exactly what you want.
More info here:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL
I would do a backup of everything just to be extra cautious!
Thanks for bumping this, I totally forgot about this thread!
bp_core_get_root_domain() uses the siteurl and not the blogurl.
Please try adding this to wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php:
function my_bp_override_core_domain() {
$domain = get_bloginfo('url');
return $domain;
}
add_filter('bp_core_get_root_domain','my_bp_override_core_domain');I’m not 100% sure this will work and it might break your BP site or it might do nothing

If it breaks your site or if this doesn’t work, delete this snippet from bp-custom.php.

If you want to run BP from the “curemates” subdirectory, login to the WP backend, and change the blog URL setting to “http://cureuphoria.com/curemates/”, then rename the “site” folder in your FTP to “curemates”
This actually might be the easiest way to go about it. Try this method first!
Again, I’m probably missing something in my steps. But that should give you at least a starting point.
The rest you should be able to google up on the wp.org forums.
In reply to: Hide Plugins from WPMU usersTry using this:
http://wpmudev.org/project/wpmu-plugin-manager
This will activate certain plugins on certain blogs.
If you just care about your BP data, export all database tables with “wp_bp_” prefixed in them, as well as the “wp_users” and”wp_usermeta” tables.
Preferably try this on a new install of standard WP with BP installed on a local testbox.
Then try importing the tables you exported above into your testbox’s db.
Disclaimer: This is all theoretical!
There might be a few things you need to manually change in the SQL export, but I’m not sure at this point.
Also, hope you’re not using user blogs on WPMU!
In reply to: bpPicture and buddyPress 1.2RC3-problemYou might want to ping Brajesh and ask him if BP-Gallery really only supports WPMU.
Would be surprised if it didn’t support standard WP.
Glad that more alternatives are popping up though!
In reply to: How to make a private community?Add this somewhere within your form tag:
<input type="hidden" name="redirect_to" value="INSERT YOUR URL YOU WANT TO REDIRECT TO" />Btw, a thousand maidens is too much, I’d be happy with one nice lass at my doorstep
In reply to: Video Embed throughout BPoEmbed for BuddyPress – works with activity streams and forum posts
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/oembed-for-buddypress/
Only works with BP 1.2.
Sounds like your install of BuddyPress isn’t complete.
Deactivate BP, download a fresh copy of BP and activate it.
See if your problem comes back.
In reply to: How to make a private community?Hi Mike,
Your code is correct, but since your page isn’t the BP_REGISTER_SLUG or BP_ACTIVATION_SLUG, it will lead you to redirect hell!
Add your page (and any other page you need to whitelist from blocking) to the following conditional:
if ( bp_is_register_page() || bp_is_activation_page() || THEWELCOMEPAGE ) //buddypress
return;Change THEWELCOMEPAGE to something that checks if you’re on welcome.php.
If welcome.php is a WordPress page with the slug of “welcome”, you would use something like:
is_page('welcome')So your conditional would look like:
if ( bp_is_register_page() || bp_is_activation_page() || is_page('welcome') ) //buddypress
return;Hope that helps!
In reply to: Preview button for forum posts?It is not a BuddyPress issue because the group forums use bbPress.
bbPress doesn’t offer a preview button in their core; if you want one, ask the bbPress developers to add it to their roadmap.
Or ask someone to port one of the bbPress preview plugins (like I mentioned above) to BP.
I closed this thread initially, but reopened it for those who might want to consider a port.
Please do not divert this topic to a debate about bbPress vs. BP’s use of it, otherwise this thread will be closed.

If anyone is interested in porting the Live Comment Preview plugin for bbPress (poke @etiviti Rich!), here’s where to look:
https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/fixed-live-comment-preview-plugin-new-features-added
In reply to: Simple BuddyPress Profile PrivacyThere’s also another BP Profile Privacy plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-profile-privacy/
The feature set appears to be identical.
Haven’t tried any of these plugins yet though.
[EDIT]
Just glancing the codebase of both. The one I link to appears to be coded cleaner, though I’m not sure which one offers better UI.
In reply to: Registration link redirects to home pageYou might want to post this on Trac:

Login with the same credentials you use here on bp.org.

Not sure what the status on that is.

Just checked out the latest update, looks like you’re using ABSPATH for bb-config.php.
Unless I’m wrong, I don’t think that will fix the problem for external bbPress installs.
I see you commented out the bb-config-location line, but you didn’t define global $bp.
Also, mrjarbenne had a problem with the new version:

In reply to: Problems instaling BP in a sub-blogYou’re using WPMU I assume?
Does the “otherblog” work when you don’t have BP enabled on that blog?
In reply to: How to style profile tabsYou have to learn how to use a web developer toolbar.
Using Firefox with the Firebug plugin can help find the specific CSS element. Once you’ve found the element, start applying some CSS rules in your child theme’s style.css.
In reply to: Is WPMU preferred over WP for BP?Yes, Jeff explains things much clearly.
You can use single WP and assign users a WP role of contributor or editor if you want users to post on the same blog.
If you want what WordPress.com offers — single user blogs — then opt for WPMU.
In reply to: global buddypress tags?It all sounds good as an idea, but as always, actual implementation is a little harder
In reply to: Is WPMU preferred over WP for BP?If you don’t need user blogs, then don’t use WPMU.
In reply to: Does it make sense to have BBpress AND BuddyPress?Read this post I made on the bbPress forums:
Yes, bbPress is necessary if you want group forums.
You might want to read this post by Boone Gorges as to what he did to transfer an existing bbPress install into BP:

Another bbPress to BP guide is available here:

I think I might add this to the FAQ
