In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2
Arx:
Here’s my suggestion – @mentions tab on a displayed user’s profile.
This solves all concerns about the deprecated wire component.
What does everyone think?
In reply to: buddybar (BP 1.2) with bbpress standaloneHey Arturo,
The CSS for the admin bar can be found here:
/wp-content/themes/bp-default/_inc/css/adminbar.css
In reply to: buddybar (BP 1.2) with bbpress standaloneHere’s a writeup I made awhile back:
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/bp-admin-bar-on-bbpress-front-page-1#post-18626
For the require_once line, if that line doesn’t work change it to the absolute file path.
If you’re using single WP, delete these lines:
bp_adminbar_blogs_menu();bp_adminbar_authors_menu();In reply to: Storage SpaceLogin to your WPMU admin area and navigate to “Site Admin > Options”.
At the bottom, there’s a field called “Blog upload space”.
Change to your desired MB size.
In reply to: Base theme? If you can wait about two weeks, you’ll be able to use BuddyPress on your regular WordPress site!

To create forums, you need to create a group with discussion forum enabled.
In reply to: More than 1 site adminLogin as Site Admin and navigate to “Site Admin > Options”.
At the bottom, there’s a field called “Site Admins”.
Enter the username(s) you want to give Site Admin access to.
In reply to: Blog categoriesHey Mattias,
Check out this tutorial:
http://jeffersonsnewspaper.org/2009/creating-a-blog-topics-directory-in-wpmu-2-8-buddypress-1-1/
This is one of the tutorials I found, however there are other ways to do it.
In reply to: BP 1.2 and bbPress admin/pluginsThanks for that info, M.
Will test this out when I have some time and experiment!
In reply to: New BP Chat plugin for BuddypressIsn’t WP 3.0 due near July or later?
So basically we’re going to be waiting until the latter part of 2010, then?

If you’re just waiting for BP 1.2, then we could definitely see an earlier release!
In reply to: MU 2.9.1 Upgrade … What broke? It was JJJ that posted it:
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/how-to-make-your-plugin-buddypress-12-aware
In reply to: Red/Green light feature on bbpressThe red light / green light thing you see here is a bbPress plugin called Support Forum:
https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/support-forum/
If you’re using an external bbPress install, check out that plugin.

Will probably not work off the bat in BP 1.1+ without some modification.
In reply to: My Student PortalYou need to upgrade to WPMU 2.9.1
https://mu.wordpress.org/download
Release and upgrade info can be found here:
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2I agree with David about how a user will see the @username and might delete the text.

Why would someone else’s activity display on your activity stream?
True, but I think adding an @mentions page on the displayed-user’s profile would help remedy users who like the wire.
You could make this page viewable if you’re logged in only.
One thing I don’t like about Twitter is I have to go to search.twitter.com to view @mentions of another user.
In reply to: Customizing one of the profile pages is mysterious. It uses the “plugin-template.php” file.
It’s a generic catch-all for plugins, which need a layout for their settings.
Look for it in /wp-content/wp-sn-parent/.
If you’re using a child theme, copy that file to your child theme folder.

In reply to: BBPress: default installation or external one? That tutorial is only if you want to have an external install of bbPress with WPMU/BuddyPress.
If you want to use the integrated version with BuddyPress, then just stick with what you have.
In reply to: BBPress: default installation or external one? Here’s a WPMU / BuddyPress / bbPress integration tutorial:
http://theeasybutton.com/blog/2009/07/17/integrating-buddypress-wordpress-mu-and-bbpress/
I’ve used this a few times myself.
In reply to: Roadmap1.3+, as listed in the roadmap, is basically the future!
It’s also not set in stone by any means.
Have an idea? Suggest it!
In reply to: BBPress: default installation or external one?It depends on your usage.
Most people will just use the default, integrated forums in BuddyPress.
If you didn’t upgrade from the BP 1.0 series, then just use the default. Unless you like the idea of having two sets of forums (which could be confusing from a UI perspective).
In reply to: Analytics kills Dashboard with Blank pageI’ve never used GA’s content overlay, so I can’t tell you the specifics.
Try clearing your internet cache / cookies to remove the site overlay setting.

Member blogs are a different matter, since the member blogs do not use the BP theme.
You can try modifying this line:
add_action('bp_after_footer', 'bp_ga_analytics');with:
add_action('wp_footer', 'bp_ga_analytics');Then put the plugin in /wp-content/mu-plugins/THEGAPLUGINFILE.php to activate Google Analytics on all your WPMU blogs.
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2Upgrade to the latest trunk version of BP 1.2.
“Send Public Message” and “Send Private Message” was added in about a week ago.
In reply to: add_submenu_page & __FILE__ problemThanks for posting my solution
In reply to: Rename componentsTry putting the define lines in wp-config.php above:
/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */Or try putting the define lines in /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php.
In reply to: Creating a PageIn reply to: Default Theme Missing TemplateSomething might have gone wrong during the upload process.
I’d try reuploading all the templates in question to /wp-content/themes/:
-Buddymatic
-avenue k9
-bp-sn-parent
-bp-default
See if that helps.
What theme are you trying to use?
In reply to: Creating a PageThe easiest way would be to create a WordPress page with the slug “subblogs”, applying a page template with the code you listed above.
