In reply to: Getting the BP post author avatar outside of loop.
You shouldn’t use the members loop if you don’t need it.
A more efficient call is using bp_core_fetch_avatar() and setting the parameters there. (Make sure you use a function_exists() call if you use this approach.)
You can alternatively filter get_avatar() as well using bp_core_fetch_avatar() as well.
In reply to: Tab or Menu: SettingsYour custom theme needs to be upgraded to support the new settings templates:
https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/1-5-developer-and-designer-information/#themePlease pass this information to the theme designer.
In reply to: Bad login redirect URLInteresting that you have two “redirect_to” parameters in your redirect URL.
Will try to test this out in a subdirectory install in the next few days. If you have any other info you can pass along to reproduce the issue, that would be great!
Glad you figured it out! If you find out how your display name in your WP profile was blank, please let us know!
In reply to: [Resolved] My forum is goneIn the WP admin dashboard, try navigating to “BuddyPress > Forums”.
Under “Forums for Groups”, try clicking on “Install Group Forums”. If you don’t see that, click on “Uninstall group forums”, then you should see the Install Group Forums button, click on that button.
Next, under “BuddyPress > Components”, make sure that “Discussion Forums” is checked.

If that doesn’t work, it could be a database problem. Try logging into phpMyAdmin and repairing your tables.
Also make sure that the following tables exist and have data populated in them:
* wp_bb_forums
* wp_bb_meta
* wp_bb_posts
* wp_bb_terms
* wp_bb_term_relationships
* wp_bb_term_taxonomy
* wp_bb_topicsIn reply to: Problem in running buddypress forumLooks like the bundled version of bbPress is missing from your BuddyPress install.
Try downloading and installing a brand new install of BuddyPress:
#1 is an interesting request. I would post a new enhancement ticket about this on BP Trac:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/newticket (login with the same credentials you use here)#2 would require hooking your activity update code into WP cron:

Do you get those warnings when BuddyPress is deactivated?
Try some of the other nginx configs on the net like:

In reply to: Page Hiearchy FailIf you change any page settings in WordPress, make sure the page configuration under “BuddyPress > Pages” matches your changes.
On my test install, I have a parent page called “Community” and then for my members and groups pages I set my parent to “Community”. Next, I navigated to “BuddyPress > Pages” to double-check that BP picked up the changes.
So now, my members page resides at example.com/community/members and my groups page resides at example.com/community/groups.
Is this what you mean? If not, please elaborate.
In reply to: I can’t access my recent forum postI would suggest recreating the original forum topic — “Setting up sub-forums in the Site Wide Forums ” — as there are some inherent bugs with the custom BuddyPress setup here on buddypress.org.
As far as your question about sub-forums with bbPress 2.0, you should try posting on the bbpress.org forums:
https://bbpress.org/forums/I encountered this weird behavior as well when I was doing some testing on a BP site.
A workaround is to open up /wp-content/themes/YOUR-THEME/registration/register.php.
Find this code snippet:
if ( bp_has_profile( 'profile_group_id=1' ) ) :And change it to:
if ( bp_has_profile( 'user_id=-1&profile_group_id=1' ) ) :Closing in favor of this thread that Chris replied to:

It could be theme-related or it could be code-related based on a previous code snippet you were using for BP 1.2.x.
I would recommend checking out the differences in your theme first:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&new=5224%40trunk%2Fbp-themes&old=4777%40trunk%2Fbp-themesCheck out the `groups_record_activity()` function located in /bp-groups/bp-groups-activity.php.
You’ll want to hook into the registration or activation actions.
If you want to hook into the activation action when someone activates via email, check out the “bp_core_activated_user” hook located in /bp-members/bp-members-signup.php.
For a primer to WordPress action hooks, check out this tutorial:
In reply to: Commenting not showing on Activity stream..Are you using a custom theme?
By default, BuddyPress doesn’t record activity items when someone changes their avatar or when someone’s profile is updated.
In reply to: There is no form to upload an avatar for a group?Thanks Chris for testing and finding the problem.
Your fix has been added to the theme compatibility page:
https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/1-5-developer-and-designer-information/#themeIf you encounter any other bugs since upgrading to BP 1.5, please post about them! Thanks!

Although there are probably a few usermeta entries as well, but that shouldn’t affect your site.
In reply to: Redirect Loop “caused” by Buddypress, yaaaaay!If you deactivated BuddyPress already and you still have a redirect loop, that means there’s a good chance the loop was not caused by BuddyPress.
If you “screwed around” with the URL settings of your WP site, there is a good chance this caused your bug.
If you can, revert to an old backup of your WP setup (database and filesystem). If you can’t, disable all your plugins and reactivate them one by one to find the culprit.
In reply to: buddypress google analytics pluginFor 99% of themes, you can use any WordPress Google Analytics plugin and it will work for BuddyPress!
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/google-analyticsThanks for testing the trunk version!
Your scenario only occurs if javascript was disabled or if there is a conflict in the javascript. Are you using a custom theme? There’s a chance a plugin could also be intefering with the javascript.
Deleting activity updates when javascript was disabled was recently fixed in trunk:
