Thanks for debugging and posting your thoughts. I use bp-custom.php myself for any custom slug settings.In reply to: member profile settings 404 errorIn reply to: Blogs & SitesYou need to create a WordPress network first before you can use BuddyPress’ blog tracking functionality.
Have you read this article?
https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_NetworkIn reply to: BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT usageHi,
You’re correct; you should add both defines in wp-config.php.
Does that work?
In reply to: BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT usageBuddyPress 1.5 created pages for your directory pages.
In the WP dashboard, navigate to “Pages”, and try and find a page that says “Sites” or “Blogs” or whatever your blog directory is called. Rename the page slug to ‘sites’.
Then in your bp-custom.php file, use:
`define( “BP_BLOGS_SLUG”, “sites” );
define( “BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT”, “sites” );`In reply to: 404 Not Found for all pages!After you’ve installed BuddyPress, what happens when you switch to the bp-default theme?
In the WP dashboard, navigate to “Appearance > Themes” after you have installed BuddyPress and select “BuddyPress Default 1.5”Do not activate BP Template Pack yet. What happens?
Does BuddyPress function on the site?

`function my_group_avatar_default() {
global $bp;
// change ‘identicon’ to anything listed here:
// http://en.gravatar.com/site/implement/images/#default-image

In reply to: BP 1.5 upgrade crashing my dev installDo you have access to your server’s error log? If so, can you post the errors?
Do you have BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG defined?

In reply to: BuddyPress Members page now gives this errorDid you disable the Activity Stream component? If so, try enabling it under “BuddyPress > Components” in the WP admin area.
In reply to: Please helpCan’t tell for sure by looking at the screenshot.
My guess is your avatars are being resized via CSS.
In reply to: Buddypress 1.5 bugs1) Copy over /plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/settings/ to your theme’s directory
3) Copy over plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/forums/ to your theme’s directory
4) Your theme is using an older version of the bp-default JS. You’ll probably have to merge your changes with BP 1.5’s version – /bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/global.jsIn reply to: Featured imagesDefinitely not related to BuddyPress.
In reply to: Changing Groups URL SlugUnfortunately, not without a lot of unhooking.

https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/ (scroll down to “Updating your custom language file”).For the settings problem, try re-running the BP Template Pack wizard. This should copy over the directory “members/single/settings/” to your WP theme.
If the wizard doesn’t work, manually copy over /plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/settings/ to your WP theme’s directory. See if that fixes your problem.
Let me know what happens.
In reply to: Some Activity features not working with BP1.5You need to update your BP templates to change
is_site_admin()tois_super_admin().The BP Template Pack styles are being a little greedy. I’ll take a look at this in the next day or so with the Technozoic theme.

Might be better to just create a new message with the people you want to send your message to.
@walid3 – This is a valid concern. Please post a ticket – https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/newticket/
BuddyPress currently checks if alphanumeric characters are inputted for the username during registration validation.
Unless there’s a valid reason for the alphanumeric check, it might be wise to just piggyback off of WP’s username validation functions.
BP 1.2.x has a bug where bp_core_is_user_spammer() is not returned as a boolean, but as an integer. This causes some problems with spammer checks.
For example, if a super admin is on a person’s profile who did not activate their account via email, in the BuddyBar, that person would be incorrectly cast as a spammer.
Haven’t checked this in BP 1.5, but it’s definitely worth looking into.
In reply to: How To Change Default Email Notifications Setting?Various notification settings are scattered throughout the BuddyPress codebase; each setting is saved as user meta.
To disable them, you have to set each one to “no” for each member.
eg. To disable email notifications for a member, you can use:
`update_user_meta( $user_id, ‘notification_messages_new_message’, ‘no’ );`You’ll have to pass the user’s ID for the `$user_id` variable.
In BP 1.2.9, to find notification settings, try looking at /plugins/buddypress/bp-X.php, where X is each component’s main loader and search for “notification_settings”, then grab the meta key and rinse and repeat:
eg. https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.2.9/bp-messages.php#L254In reply to: Header Background Image@tommyhoang – If you’re using that tutorial, remove any custom CSS you may have for the header and everything should work out fine.
