In reply to: Buddypress doesnt work when I enable The Network.
Did you create the network using these steps?
https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_NetworkBecause you’re using subdomains, you’ll need to set that up correctly as well:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network#Step_2:_Setting_Wildcard_SubdomainsBtw, this is a WordPress problem; did you try posting your question over there?
Hi thewhyteempire, please do not post duplicate threads:

In reply to: Way to Change GroupsYou’d probably want to hijack the $bp global when a group page is displayed.
If you’re using BP 1.2.x, look particularly at `$bp->is_item_mod` in /buddypress/bp-groups.php
In reply to: Replacing landing page in BP@digitalhytop – BuddyPress is a WordPress plugin; front page handling is a WordPress thing.
Modemlooper’s link is a good place to start.
When you create a new page for your frontpage, you’ll probably want to create a page template for it:
In reply to: Where does BuddyPress hook into WordPress?It uses its own catch-URI schema and pushes its templates based on the URL in question without rewrite rules:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.2.9/bp-core/bp-core-catchuri.php#L7In reply to: Using a different default imageYup! Add the define statement in /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php and replace $img_url with your own and you should be good to go!
@mercime – *whispers* ssh! it’s a secret!
That’s all I can say for now!That’s if you want to create a brand-new BP component by extending the base BP_Component class.
This makes things way easy to manage and develop going forward!You can find examples throughout the BP 1.5 codebase (look at each subdirectory for bp-x-loader.php and stare at it until it melts into your head!).
Regarding the Events Manager plugin, that plugin will need to add support for activity posting from the events user page. Ask the author of the plugin if that is planned in a future release.
In reply to: Anyone else working on integrating Gigya?Timely… I’m about to embark a project that might use Gigya as well. I’ve seen some sites use Janrain Engage as well.
In reply to: Post button missing on Activity StreamJust signed up and tested your site:
http://www.discdevil.com/members/raytest/I can post updates and reply… what browser are you using?
In reply to: BuddyPress & Activity Stream PermalinksSitgmartyr – This issue has been reported and fixed, but unfortunately there will not be a public, new release under the 1.2 series because attention has shifted to 1.5.
However, you can patch and fix this yourself:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/4626Or download the 1.2 dev branch and overwrite your current “buddypress” folder:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/branches/1.2 (scroll to the bottom and click on the ZIP download)Remove all your htaccess code that you’ve added as that isn’t related to this issue.
In reply to: Expire passwordsOne way is to change all your user’s passwords with some generic-only-you-will-know password.
Then a user is forced to reset their password when s/he attempts to login next time.Read this post for some pointers (especially the ninja section):
http://digwp.com/2009/10/five-ways-to-change-your-wordpress-password/I should state that BuddyPress runs on top of WordPress, so this is technically a WordPress issue.
In reply to: Change folder name of themesCreate a child theme and you can have your cake and eat it too!
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/In reply to: what does it do ?$bp->default_component is only used for the members component, so when you’re on a member’s profile page, the default component you see, by default, is the user’s activity loop; otherwise, it’s the user’s profile loop.
I’ve notified one of the admins. FYI, moderators on bp.org cannot delete activity updates, only forum posts.
In reply to: Use metadata from members profile in WP posts?Use:
`bp_get_profile_field_data()`:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.2.9/bp-xprofile/bp-xprofile-templatetags.php#L554Pass your field ID and user ID through that function.
See this thread for an example:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/get-buddypress-profile-field-valueIn reply to: Enabling private messagingMessages are only available from your profile page:
hxxp://example.com/members/USERNAME/messagesTry this 3rd-party plugin:
In reply to: Safe to edit BuddyPress Plugin?It’s safe to place the code in wp-config.php.
In reply to: BP plugin incompatible with WP 3.2.1BP Links looks like the culprit. Try renaming that folder /plugins/bp-links/ to something else like /plugins/bp-links-bak/, then see if that fixes your site.
In reply to: Safe to edit BuddyPress Plugin?It also helps to change the default slugs to something else

eg.
`define( ‘BP_ACTIVATION_SLUG’, ‘confirm’ );
define( ‘BP_ACTIVITY_SLUG’, ‘stream’ );
`In reply to: Limiting comments to activitiesThose conditionals do not apply to activity comments.
The easiest way is to use CSS to hide the comment link.
The alternative is to copy the entry template into your child theme and edit:
/bp-default/activity/entry.phpAs for nested comments, currently you’ll have to apply a filter to “bp_activity_recurse_comments” (located in bp-activity/bp-activity-templatetags.php):
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.2.9/bp-activity/bp-activity-templatetags.php#L678Don’t know anything about filters?
http://themeshaper.com/2009/05/03/filters-wordpress-child-themes/ (tutorial applies to themes, but also works for plugns; there are a bunch of tutorials on the web as well!)—
This will get slightly easier to modify in BuddyPress v1.3 as activity comments now have a dedicated template file.
In reply to: Show single group activity and post-formTry modifying the BP Activity Stream widget to do what you need:
http://buddydev.com/buddypress/buddypress-sitewide-activity-widget-for-buddypress-1-2-and-above/It’s applicable for all activity, but it’s probably possible to hack it to work for your one group.
In reply to: Need to resolve “Page not found” errorsHave you tried flushing your post permalinks?
https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Permalinks_ScreenUse any setting but the default.
