In reply to: BP Xtra Signup
@travel-junkie Great idea for a plugin but I’m having an issue with it.
It seems to be demanding a mailchimp api key even when I don’t have the mailchimp section set up.
I only want to use the TOS section but it won’t let me save ANYTHING if I don’t supply the mailchimp stuff. Can the TOS be used on their own without activating the MC stuff?
I’m using WP 3.0 and BP 1.2.4.
Cheers! In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?thanks for the new code! I have this working now!
the only thing that is happening now is that the widget is displaying a ? in a black diamond before the title of each topic in the widget.I am using WP 3.0.
Is this something to do with an unrecognised character or something?
Cheers. In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?@nuprn1
When you said ‘make sure to change “Whatever_You_Named_It_Latest_Topics_Widget” to the name of the widget class’I don’t think Im doing this right. I have just copied your original code you supplied so what class do I need to put in the function?
I keep getting a white page when I try.Cheers,
Ross

Ahhh, that must be it then! Does this go in the bp-custom.php file too or elsewhere and if it does go in custom.php should it be before or after your code?
Thanks! In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?@nuprn1 thats the only thing, it isnt showing in the widgets section. There isnt a latest topics widget to drag across.
In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget? So sorry, I just can’t get this to work.
I have copied the code from your post to my clipboard and pasted it between php tags in my bp-custom.php file but no widget is showing. Do I have to activate any of the forum extras plugins for it to work?
I just need this widget and not the forum index.I have other code in my bp-custom.php file that works so not sure why adding this code in there doesn’t.
Apologies once again as I’m clearly doing something wrong but I just don’t know what.
Thanks for your patience! In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?@nuprn1 Hmm… maybe I have done something wrong but I have pasted the code in and yet I can’t see a widget?
In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?@nuprn1 Thanks so much.
So I have pasted that code into my bp-custom.php file.So should the widget show up or do I need to activate the sub plugin. Will that not activate the forum index with it? I just need the widget. We’re nearly there!
In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?@nuprn1 Sorry for having to ask such simple questions but I am exactly that… Simple!
Wen you say ,’place this class BP_Forum_Extras_Index_Latest_Topics_Widget extends WP_Widget into the bp-custom.php file’
What am I actually placing in the custom php file?
I’m not sure how much of the code I am cutting and pasting? So sorry, I’m just learning!
Thanks so much!In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?@nuprn1 Great stuff! This is exactly what I need but I only need the widget and not the index. The index is a great idea but I have 2000 groups so isn’t really suitable.
I’m a bit of a numpty when it comes to extracting code but would really like to hear how I can use just the widget without the index! I’d even pay for this to be made into a standalone widget.
Cheers
Ross
In reply to: Instant Messaging FeatureAny news on the simple chat plugin from buddypress dev? @@miguael
In reply to: Instant Messaging FeatureThat sounds awesome! Perfect timing! Any specifics on what it does from Buddy Dev?
In reply to: Instant Messaging FeatureThe ajax chat that is out right now isn’t all that great from what I hear. I’d love an integrated Facebook style chat.
Surely someone out there must be working on something like that?In reply to: Instant Messaging FeatureI too would love a basic and reliable instant messaging solution on BP. I haven’t found one yet. Anyone know of or developing a decent one?
Thanks! In reply to: Changing Group tab display defaults@r-a-y cheers for that. I’m still totally rubbish at coding anything but it now works a treat!
I’ve got the forum as the default tab now and have it first in the list of tabs. Is there a simple way to rename the Home tab to ‘Group Activity’ ?
Thanks again r-a-y
In reply to: Changing Group tab display defaultsI think I have made the php file properly and pasted in the code but on my site it just shows the code in the header. I must be doing something wrong.
In reply to: Changing Group tab display defaults@r-a-y thanks for this mate! I can’t see a bp-custom.php file in my wp-content/plugins folder though. Should it be there or do I need to create one?
In reply to: Forums in GroupsAnyone got any ideas for this. When you click on a group, would be nice to go straight to the forums page.
Love your design of the signup page! I use S2 Member too. How did you design the table with the subscription options. I only have one membership level but I’d like to lay it out in a table like you have done. Any ideas?
No problem, glad I could help!
You are in the BP settings there. Click on the WP settings near the bottom.
Settings—> General you’ll see it in there!
In reply to: REQ plugin: Only admin create new group.Should have read, restrict group creation. I’m not awake yet!
In reply to: REQ plugin: Only admin create new group. The plugin you need is Buddypress restrict group forums. Search for it through your admin panel and set the permissions accordingly.
In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum Posts@dwenaus I think total karma points should be the default setting.
At the moment as my site is very quiet I don’t get any karma showing when I select one of the PLUS or average settings. That is what led me to believe something was wrong with the setup.
It’s a really great plugin though! All I would do to enhance it is award rankings at certain levels. If an admin could set the rank names that would be great and maybe a ‘badge’ of some description could be displayed in a user’s profile for hitting a particular rank?
Great work though!
In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum PostsI have just changed the settings for Karma to ‘Total Karma Points for quiet sites – this shows the simple total of karma points. example: 110’ and the points now show up.
I previously had it set to ‘Mixed Karma Points PLUS for normal sites – this is a higher value mix of total points and average points per post. example: 60’
I’m not quite sure of the difference here to make the points value not show up.
Could you shed some light on it?
Thanks once again!
