@rogercoathup Great looking site mate. Who did you employ to draw the cartoons? they are awesome!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@DJPaul I don’t mind them being there Paul I just wondered if we could change them anywhere to fit with the theme of our sites?

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@rogercoathup weird isn’t it Roger! Surely we can change them somewhere if they have decided to put them in?

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@nuprn1
Hi Rich,
Here’s a link to the activity stream on a site I am starting to build

http://www.actonthis.co/activity/

Notice the avatar next to the updates that mention a new post. There is now a generic avatar next to them???

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@pisanojm hey guys. http://www.bp-tricks.com is actually set up on the BP-Slick theme if you want to check it out. Bowe owns the site which is in the middle of a relaunch and BP Slick is his baby!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@whitbyglennk the demo version right now is a free ‘minimal’ version. BP Slick is a paid for upgrade and trust me, will blow you away with functionality, especially if you use S2 member for your subscriptions.

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@rogercoathup Just checking that you got my email over at your site Roger?

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@chouf1 thanks for the links! Unfortunately it looks like the classified stuff is a bit too in depth. I just need a very simple directory of names and addresses that is searchable. A classififed plugin might be a bit overkill for this one but thanks so much for your reply!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@rogercoathup Just dropped you a message on your site mate!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@rogercoathup Wow, sounds like a bit of work there! hahaha!

The directory would work in the exact same way as the members directory in terms of the search but each listing doesn’t have to have a profile or anything, just a name, address and contact info.

Do you guys have anything in your current inventory that could be adapted? And how much are we looking at to code something like this. It just needs to be the simplest method possible as long as people can look up the names of the listings and what they are known for supplying.
Thanks again!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

+1 for this! I absolutely need this too. Nothing fancy, just a media tab on a profile, containing a photos folder, a videos folder and an audio folder. All set up as default just ready for a user to upload to. Is this possible?

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years ago]

@travel-junkie

Thanks so much for the code, i’ve just given it a try but I’m getting a blank page when trying to look at the post’s page.

<?php if( ! in_category('61') )
comments_template(); ?>

Category 61 is the one I want to disable comments on so I used the above code. Is that all I needed to put in single.php or is there anything else?

Sorry for sounding so crap, but… I am!

Oh yeah, any progress on the CV plugin? Can’t wait to start using it!
Thanks

@hnla @rogercoathup Thanks for your help here too guys!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

@r-a-y I agree with many, this would be a valuable plugin on many sites I think! +1 for the plugin!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

@hnla I agree in the most part but the fact is, I run my BP sites for profit. Whether I’m developing them for myself or others. People cant expect everything for free. BP itself is the best thing I have used to make communities and it’s AMAZING it’s free. I like to donate where I can for themes and plugins where they are free but things can be a great addition to the community even at a small cost.

Bowe’s theme is very cheap (currently with 20% off) and will save me 10’s of hours in development time. Do I mind paying $24? NOPE!

(not a paid endorsement either!)

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

No seriously it isn’t spam! Sorry if it sounded like that! I was just being a little enthusiastic perhaps. Check out the site, it’s 100% genuine and a great addition for the BP community in my opinion. Just trying to help.
Cheers!

+1

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

@creativologist You need to buy gravity forms for WordPress. It’s a premium plugin but does exactly what you want and is quite literally amazing! stacked full of features. The best WP plugin there is in my opinion for this kind of thing. Well worth the small cost.

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

@Travel-Junkie No problem! Keep me in the loop, it’ll be a big part of my current project so I’d be really happy to test it out for ya!
Cheers!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

@Travel-Junkie Hi mate,
Sorry to keep asking about the CV plugin but just wondering where you are at with it? If you need any testing doing gimme a shout or if it’s ready to go just gimme a price! Haha!

Hope you are well!
Ross

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

Sometimes ya just gotta pay for functionality. There isn’t an alternative to this that works as well but good luck with your solution!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

Look at ‘cometchat’ for buddypress. It’s a premium plugin you pay for but it’s as close to facebook chat as possible. Very easy to install and reliable!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

Is that just 4 tickets left until 1.2.6 is ready now then?

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

Not sure on the x minutesthing but you can certainly only show the edit/ delete links for admins and mods by editing some code.
You need to edit 2 files:

bp-activity-templatetags.php and topic.php

You will see permissions on displaying the links.

Look for ‘bp_activity_delete_link

Delete the other permissions so only

‘is_admin’ is shown to only display links to admins.

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

@modemlooper Great plugin, so far no problems with WP 3.0.1 and BP 1.2.5.2!
Thanks for this!

[@rossagrant Participant 16 years, 1 month ago]

@Travel-Junkie Just thought i’d touch base with you and see how you are getting on with the CV component?

If I can do any testing for you let me know!
