hi

well here is the modified plugin. It will show the avatar from buddypress and the link will be the name of the user with the profile link.

I will advise to do one thing though.

after installing plugin go to Tools->Sidebar Login

and from the Logged in links text box, remove the line which says wp-admin/profile.php

This should work perfect then.

this is a common problem with wpmu 2.8+

here is a solution.Login as Admin.

go to Settings->permalinks

and save it again.

It should make it work.

you mean the discussion topics shown at the bottom of the home page.

well, I am using external bbpress with deep integration to buddypress/wordpress mu.

The topics are coming from https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-latest-discussion/ plugin.

Though, if you want to do the same using internal integration

specifying the action as “new_forum _post” should do that.

as DJPaul points, you do not need bp-themes directory inside wp-content ,It will cause problems.

Please move buddypress/bp-themes/ (bp-sn-parent and bp-default) to wp-content/themes and then go to SiteAdmin->Themes ,allow it from the main site and activate bp=-default using appearance->Themes

and remember to delete the wp-content/bp-tehems directory.

This is a problem with sitewide activated plugins upgrade.

Thanks for pointing.

I had mentioned that in one of the comment already on the blog about the graphics.

The login will work, once you add the login widget supplied with the theme(cb-addons), please have a look at my recommendation about widget use there.

There are a few more things ,I am aware and will be updated by Wednesday(when my designer comes tomorrow). I had promised the theme long ago, and since designer was away, so I had to go for a hurried release.

Other than graphics(transparency issue with title background ), please point to other things too, I will be glad to enhance more

ahh ok, in that case , you will need to modify the function widget_wp_sidebarlogin()

specifically, for the current version from line number 153 to 177.

btw ,if you can wait , I will edit the plugin ,make it bp-compatible and upload it somewhere , but not now , tomorrow ,as It is too late here

for everyone else looking at the plugin

we need to modify following things there

1.gravatar-should use bp avatar mechanism

2.login link

3.logout link.

@dwpers you can still make a post as sticky from Individual group->forums, but not the categories currently.

ahh I see your problem ,while i checked your site.

1.You have wordpress mu installed in a subdirectory wpmu

2.But you have installed wordpress mu to use subdomain style address ,which will not work.

Workaround

1.Install wordpress mu in wpmu(subdirectory as it is now) but at the time of installation select “Sub- directories” and go ahead, your wpmu will work correctly and you will have blogs with address as

idotter.ch/wpmu/blog_address

Or

2.Install wpmu in the root domain with subdomain style,enable wildcard subdomain and you will have blogs like blog.yoursite.com working.

I meant it literally. You copy the permalink, Now change it and then save.

Again,use custom permalink, put the copied old value there and re save.

The subdomain should not be a problem.

from which version of buddypress you are trying to upgrade ? if 1.0.x ,then you need to update your theme. btw nothing is overwritten(at least the themes) unless you do it manually.

a far as I see, your problem is the “BP_PLUGIN_DIR” is not getting used correctly.It is output in error log as literal ,which should not happen.

Please delete the old buddypress, use FTP and upload a fresh copy of buddypress to wp-content/plugins

Try activating and see if this error occurs again

Agree with you on the option.

Rather than using “forums” slug for group forums directory, I will rather use it for external forums. Instead, I will consider using group-forums slug for that.

Again, why use two copies of bbpress if you want external forums, why not use a single copy but with the tighter integration.

Well, why I said It should not be Integrated.

Currently,Is there anyway for the site admin to manage all the forums on a buddypress at one place.No.

Can You manage all the topics from one place, no , you have to visit individual groups to manage it.

bbpress has been in existence ,before even the conception of buddypress,so how about the people who are already using it as a standalone software,or on their wordpress/wpmu site.We may not force them to install buddypress for using/keep using forum.

I hope ,There are other various reasons why It should not be merged.

But again,I too wish ,there should be more better integration.

sorry,could not reply yesterday. as Xevo pointed ,set a min width for body or wrapper,but remember ,It is not going to work at least in IE 6(IE6,does not supports min-width,a work around will be using _width property(note the underscore for IE6).

I seriously believe ,these pieces of software should never merge.

Personally,I prefer external forums much more than the internal integration.Again, for people who are looking for easy install(the internal integration is well done by Andy, Kudos to him) internal integration is good, but in most of the circumstances we are going to need an external forum, as it is much more clean and easy to use rather than the group associated forum.

I believe, the integration of bbpress with buddypress will get better in future, as buddypress grows. But considering current situations, It is not a good idea to merge both the pieces of software.

I am not sure about ,,what you mean by residing the navbar at the bottom of header field.

do you want to put it under the logo or just align with the bottom of logo ?

For not allowing the navbar to collapse with the logo,

Just fix the header width.

something of this sort will help.

#header{width:1000px;}

Put it in your screen.css or find the #header selector and put the width you want there.

the basic layout is controlled by plugin-template.php for settings page currently,but the settings output is internal generated ,as Andy Has already pointed.

This is nothing but an white space issue.

Check for the white spaces after closing tags of php(that may be on different line than the 3).

best bet ,disable all other plugins except buddypress ,if the error is there,It is because you have got white spaces in your header.php

just try to re save it , or if does not work,change->save->change to previous->save.
