How are you getting item_id ?
You probably already have the author ID in the same object or array that is providing the item_id, especially if you’re in a loop. You can always write a direct sql query: https://codex.wordpress.org/Class_Reference/wpdb
In reply to: Include multiple people on a profile page…it is possible to add custom fields to groups?
Yes – you will need skill as a WP developer.

Typically, bug reports are submitted in the support forum for a specific plugin.
The plugin has been updated. In reply to: Creating group admin submenuPlease use the
codebutton when sharing code. When extending Groups, you should use the BP_Group_Extension.
It’s easy to use and handles creation of nav items. In reply to: Adding plugin subnav edit screenRather than add a nav item, just put an edit link in each item in your list of products.
Point the links to the same screen as the product list.
In the code for the product list, do an early check for a GET or POST variable, and if found, get the product id variable, open an edit form and fill in the product fields. In reply to: Direct link to groupNope, not clear enough :>
BP does not create a separate page for each group.
Where do you want to show single group links?
You can create group links in a few ways. Here is one:
bp_get_group_permalink( $group );
But we need to know the context for the links. In reply to: Extended profile field wrapperPlease use the

Inbuddypress\bp-xprofile\bp-xprofile-template.php
find the filter hook infunction bp_the_profile_field_value()BP uses that same hook for a lot of formatting. See
buddypress\bp-xprofile\bp-xprofile-filters.php
So be sure to set the priority to a high number like 99 so your filter function will run last.> and it suggests that this is not a default setting
It’s not a setting at all.
Some other code or plugin is causing your issue. Try deactivating other plugins.
It may also be theme-related – to find out, try switching to a theme like WP 2016.In reply to: Need help locating filter definitionPerhaps the tag is created by ‘Autolink’ ?
You can disable Autolink by going to wp-admin > Users > Profile Fields > your field and look for ‘Autolink’ in the right-side column.
Then you could write a filter function to create a custom tag.
Or you could not disable autolink and write a filter function to change the text in the tag.

In reply to: Sitewide ActivityWhile there is no ‘inbuilt’ limit re word count, there is a filter that can be used to limit the number of words.
For example, this ( untested ) function would impose a limit of 50 words:function cyan_activity_comment( $content, 'get' ) { $content = wp_trim_words( $content, 50, '...' ); return $content; } add_filter( 'bp_activity_comment_content', 'cyan_activity_comment', 10, 2 );In reply to: Prevent Group Post from Showing on Profile ActivityTry :

wp-admin > Settings > Generalwhat is Timezone set to ?
If it is already set to the correct time zone, then figure out how much the times, in Notifications’, are off. For example, is it correct as an UTC time ? https://www.google.com/search?q=utc+time+zoneIn reply to: Alternate unique identifier instead of email?> Typical use cases…
Those scenarios don’t require multiple accounts to use the same email address for registration.
The ‘assistants’ could have their own account.
And then create an interface where a ‘VIP’ could select members to ‘operate and update certain sections of their accounts‘. Or ‘communication from each sent to their same email address.’The latter use-case is quite simple.
The former would be more work. How granular the permissions are is determined by how much code you want to write.
In reply to: Concerns For Large Forums Site (Hosting VS CDN)>backups would still be a pain though
These days, any decent hosting plan includes automatic backups and an interface for managing them.
Backing up and handling the sql is trivial compared to the media for a large site, even if just images. But you are obsessing ( and not the first to do so ) about the possible problems of a successful site before you even launch. Your concerns and the possible solutions are well-documented and not unique. So just build, launch and go from there.
In reply to: How to perform user search with ‘OR’?Instead of using
members_search, write a custom query. In that custom query, instead of
OR, useIN.The query will be determined by where and how you store this data: ‘ two job titles under which they can be listed.’

BP_Members_Suggestionsin this file:
buddypress\bp-core\classes\class-bp-members-suggestions.phpAs you can see, there is a default
limitof 10 – which explains why you only see ten suggestions.
Typically, you expect a user to type more than one letter and thereby get better matches.Fortunately for you, there is a filter hook (
bp_members_suggestions_args) in the class that you can use to set thelimitparameter to whatever you want.In reply to: Nouveau leaves html tag in groups descriptionPerhaps it’s because you’re using the Nouveau theme.
Try switching to the BP legacy theme.
