In reply to: A couple of issues, am I missing something?
Since you can create a VM, you don’t need to wipe the current install – just spin up a new one++ from scratch.
btw – A lot of WP people use VVV on localhost.
Lastly – you didn’t mention your hosting solution – but most providers now offer WP configs or default to it. Assuming most or all of your issues are related to your VM setup, then those issues will melt when you push to production.
In reply to: A couple of issues, am I missing something? You can switch to a WP theme like 2016 or 2017 – iow. ‘safe’.
All plugins should work with a WP theme.
So momentarily switching to a WP theme will provide hints re whether the issue is in your theme or a plugin.Your issues are too specific to your setup for you to get more then general suggestions here.
Try to get some specifics: Debugging_in_WordPress
In reply to: Topic Title (Maximum Length: 80) – that’s not true! Thanks for the clarification.
I just created a test topic and the accepted title had 80 characters.
Perhaps you miscounted.This has 73 chars: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/how-to-add-notifications-counter-to-my-friends-requests-sub-nav-tab/
If you are still having trouble, perhaps you could use a title that is a little shorter.

Untested, just to give you the general idea..
function jen_check_avatar_upload( true, $file, $upload_dir_filter ) { // check the $file re type, dims, etc // if you don't like the value of any param, // return false return true; } add_action( 'bp_core_pre_avatar_handle_upload', 'jen_check_avatar_upload', 10, 3 );Try using this hook

Somebody probably has such a function.
But you should ask a larger audience – trywordpress.org/support/In reply to: Message Replies HookPerhaps it’s a hook priority issue – try using a number less than 10.
Or… Did you try using
messages_message_after_save?
Found inbuddypress\bp-messages\classes\class-bp-messages-message.phpIn reply to: BuddyPress Menu Not Showing for Old MembersIn reply to: Members List Not Showing MembersAs of BuddyPress 2.0, last_activity is no longer stored in usermeta.
However, it is mirrored there for backward compatibility.
Instead, refer to the_bp_activitytable.My first reply included a link to code for insuring that all members have a ‘last_activity’ timestamp.
Did you follow the directions and run the code?In reply to: Members List Not Showing MembersMake sure all your members have a ‘last_activity’ timestamp.
If the issues persist, you need to do some basic debugging.
Start by using a WP theme like 2017 and use the BP > Options > Template Pack > BuddyPress Legacy templates. If that clears up the issues, then you need to get a solution from BuddyBoss. If the issues persist, deactivate any other plugins.
If the issues persist, there is a serious and unknown problem.
Otherwise, activate the other plugins one at a time until you see an issue. In reply to: BuddyPress activated, but 404 not foundSet your permalinks to ‘Post Name’ and click ‘Save Changes’.

What do you think the fix should be ?
In reply to: Group DescriptionsOn the front end, go to a group and select ‘Manage’.
You should end up on an url like:.../groups/your-group/admin/edit-details/
And be able to edit the description. On the back-end, wp-admin > Groups > roll over a group name and select ‘Edit’.
Re the second issue: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/description-groups/
Paste in your theme functions.php or in bp-custom.php.
Load the site in a browser
Remove from your theme functions.php or bp-custom.php.https://gist.github.com/shanebp/b73343e9c9a6509d2bbc47de80c881c1
In reply to: check if front.phpI’m not very familiar with Nouveau.
I think you’re using a custom ‘front.php’ template ?
Perhaps you could add a hook to that template and write a function to call whenever that template loads. Not very slick, but easy and flexible. In reply to: check if front.phpWhat do you mean by ‘bp front page’ ?
The home page of your site ?
The landing page of any profile ?
Share an url fragment as part of your reply. In this context,
item_idis related to the component.
For example, if the component is ‘groups’, then theitem_idis a group id.
Andsecondary_item_idis kinda like another filter, maybe acomment_id.But custom-rolling an activity list is going to lead you, at some point, into a dead end.
A much better approach is to use the many parameters of
bp_has_activities.
And maybe write some custom sql to gather data arrays to feed into that function. In reply to: BP Login buggyBuddyPress does not provide a login popup window.
You need to talk to whoever created the login popup that you are using.
