Any luck checking to see if the theme designer released a new version since BP updated? I use premium themes built for BP too, and our designer posted some updates to his theme too.
If there is no black bar and it’s just a list of items then it sounds like a style sheet issue. If you reset to the bp default theme is it working?
Try seeing if your custom theme has a file called bp.css perhaps. I found mine in wp-content/themes/custom_theme/css/
@clairem – perhaps the functions.php file of your custom theme needs to be updated to be compatible with the new Buddypress? I’m merely guessing because that is where you make your edits to bring most WP themes compatible with Buddypress. If it’s a premium theme the designer should be able to help you pretty quickly.
If not maybe try posting a screen shot so we can better understand if this is a css issue or something else (if you don’t want to share the URL).
@frizzo – sounds like you are looking to implement WPMU (multisite)

Here is a link to help get you started: https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
The way I’m doing it, our main buddypress site is the master domain, all users from that site can use their accounts around any of our sub-blogs or domains. There’s even a premium plugin for domain name support so you’re not just limited to a subdirectory.
Hope this helps!
FFS – 1 year goes by here without any replies. No wonder ppl were pulling their hair out.

Anyone? Anyone….??
In reply to: Update permalinks in activity streamYes back to the original question, thanks nahummadrid. The link contains suggestion for links that started with a date and I’m not that savy with .htaccess commands but if I have activity links that look like this:
site.com/activity/p/1234
How would I write my .htaccess redirect?
I am using the following permalink structure: /%post_id%/%postname%
@r-a-y – hey man thanks for being a great help here to the community. I’ve been reading most of your posts in the forums over the past several hours fighting with my permalinks in activity streams.
I saw your .htaccess redirect post for mismatch 301 and tried it but I think I need it customized for activity streams?
In my example, certain activity posts are just going to the front page of my site rather than the post itself, they’re all coded like: http://www.site.com/activity/p/0001 when you click ‘view’ it just goes to the home page

Pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to get them to refresh or something. My permalink structure is /%post_id%/%postname%
It’s making me crazy lol
In reply to: 404 error on bp linksWhat do you do when it’s not all your links but only some of them and there is no pattern to it like old vs. new or a specific group or member?
How would we be able to understand how to solve issues with activity links (where it says ‘view’ in the stream) redirecting to the home page? Not all of them are doing it, but a good enough number. I guess even (1) would be considered a bug.
I am using BP 1.2.9 with WP 3.2.1 multisite atm – made the upgrade this weekend and running into these issues..
In reply to: Buddypress Links Redirect To Home PageNow having the same issue as Don on my BP 1.2.9 (WP 3.2.1 Multisite).
Certain activity links are now redirecting to the home page rather than the item. I tried seeing if there is a pattern as to why it’s doing this but it’s apparently random (to me). Certain ‘view’ links in the stream will redirect to the home page, some go to the activity.
I’ve tried changing permalinks a couple times and that didn’t help.
I updated to the new BP version last week. Any suggestions?
In reply to: Moving the Buddy Press Profile MenuSame here – editing the admin bar is an important option in customizing buddypress for it’s audience.
In reply to: Site Wide Sitemap XMLcrossing my fingers and legs! I can’t see how this awesome plugin would come without it

wish there was an answer to this…In reply to: The New BP Admin BarAnyone savy with this new feature and can help? I’d like to use it on our BP site too
In reply to: Reply is not working in Activity pageWell that’s just good to know. I’ve been checking back every so often and using THIS website to gauge how ready their latest version is.
In reply to: Reply is not working in Activity pageSo how does this explain why it’s not working on this site then either?
I have to go to the last page of a post to find this box. If you click ‘New Reply’ above it does NOTHING on the Buddypress.org site itself … *le sigh*
In reply to: No one is able to ‘reply’ since the last upgradep.s. The “edit” post link is broken as well…

In reply to: Can You Have A Default Friend?Welcome pack seems cool, but the question is having a default in place, sort of like “Tom” on mySpace.
Having looked at the tables in SQL I realize that friendship involves a record of a “handshake” between the members to create the bond between two friends
In reply to: Removing sidebar in forum pageThanks @hnla – I’ll try your suggestions. I appreciate the help
In reply to: Removing sidebar in forum pageAnyone haz any insight to this? I tried using the conditional statement: `bp_is_group_forum()` where suggested but that didn’t seem to do the trick. I really want to make my main forum directory be a full width listing if possible, removing the sidebar on that page.
If this is possible, please advise?

I saw that there is a plugin on WP.org to automatically add this to all pages. Yeah I know it’s an old post but obviously it came up in the search traps
Anyone else wanting this just needs to search WP.org for `auto thickbox`In reply to: Removing sidebar in forum pagep.s. If this helps, here’s what I was told by my theme designer:
“Ask if there is a conditional statement from BuddyPress that lets the page know the page is a group forum directory. Once you get the conditional statement open page.php and find:
`ID, ‘ghostpool_layout’, true) == “Full Width”) { ?>`
Replace with:
`ID, ‘ghostpool_layout’, true) == “Full Width” OR is_group_forum()) { ?>`Where is_group_forum() is the conditional statement.
In reply to: SMF Forum importerAnswer to my own question is: /wp-admin/admin.php?page=bpsmf_admin_settings
In reply to: SMF Forum importerHello – I just installed this plugin but I’m using WPMU and after network activating it I cannot see it in my Network Admin > Buddypress > *anywhere*
Nor can I see it in Site Admin. Is this not intended to work with Multisite? It doesn’t need to, I just wanted to get users imported..
