    Not sure what you mean? Just the posts? You could use the RSS widget calling the main blog posts. What exactly are you trying to achieve? It might be easier if you want the main blog “embedded” in the BP page to just add the BP content to that theme.

    I don’t know if this would be something that Andy would be able to control since it is done through using the image tools available on the server. It really is determined by the quality of the original image that you are uploading isn’t it? Could be wrong, but that is my understanding…

    @danielfelice this actually is a bug, but not of BP, but rather WPMU and WP. Problem is that users are registering on your server “in the future” or rather from a timezone that your server hasn’t hit yet. Judging by what you said, 5 or 6 timezones ahead of the server time. Since it doesn’t exist yet, WP and WPMU spit that out :)

    Make sense? Not sure of a solution, but I hear through grapevine that Otto, one of the WP mods maybe wrote a plugin that fixes this? Haven’t found it, but might be worth a search in the wordpress.org/support/ forums.

    There are workarounds for this, but the real issue is that this is the intended outcome for normal WP. Since it is the intended result for WP, it gets pulled into WPMU since it is synced off the WP development. Since BP works on WPMU, it gets the same result. See the pattern ;)

    That “block admin” plugin works well and if users login from the main site, it doesn’t direct them. Only when they hit wp-login.php will they get redirected to the dashboard. If you are a WPMUDEV.org premium subscriber, they have a plugin that changes this default behavior, so I would imagine there are other solutions out there as well.

    I actually was stumbing across this last night. Maybe your encoding isn’t UTF-8 and it is being force? How about changing the code to get the current sites encoding instead of it being hard coded in that query?

    For example:

    $content = html_entity_decode($content, ENT_COMPAT, get_option('blog_charset'));

    I don’t think it is exactly a strictly BP issue, but I have no idea other than this google search.

    All avatars go to the main blog directory for uploads:

    /wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/

    Then the folder structure after that is like files with date, etc. Just make sure the server has write access to that folder.

    My apologies. Never saw that error when it wasn’t on php 4 before, as that seems to come out of nothing but php 4 installs. Would you mind trying something for me? Could you edit /mu-plugins/bp-forum/bp-forum-filters.php and change line 53 from:

    $content = html_entity_decode( $content, ENT_COMPAT, "UTF-8" );

    to:

    $content = utf8_decode($content);

    Just want to see if that fixes it. Make sure you backup your original file before the change, so you can change it back if you need to. That might “patch” it until Andy can look at this.

    On the latest version of buddypress, you can view your version in the admin now on the “buddypress” options page :)

    @cikguazleen this is a problem with earlier versions of php 4. Can you get your host to get you on php 5?

    Here is an explanation about error.

    Another possible explanation

    Ok…figured it out for dsader’s plugin. Just needs priority added to it. Check out this post in WPMU forums, but basically add priority to the template_redirects like:

    add_action('template_redirect', 'ds_users_authenticator', 1);

    add_action('template_redirect', 'ds_members_authenticator', 1);

    add_action('template_redirect', 'ds_admins_authenticator', 1);

    Just adding the “1” for priority makes it go before Andy’s changes. All those lines are near the top of the plugin.

    The real list we would need to create would be the “shared hosts” that BP doesn’t work on. Or the list of “shared hosts” that BP does work on since that is the real issue. There would be few VPS hosting and no dedicated hosting it doesn’t work on.

    Try removing it, saving it, adding it, saving it, editing it, saving it. Sounds strange, but have to get the entry out of there somewhere.

    @trent

    Oh…ok, but the widget saved as that, so you might have to actually change it to what you want again and save it. That is the problem with cache poison as it might actually have saved that widget to only have that one character….see if that works. it should take the contents now.

    And yes, I had “many” blogs to fix when that happened to me, that is why I am reluctant to try object cache again….

    The BP function is actually bp-blogs.php so I am a little confused how you managed to get that error unless you are running another plugin called blogs.php in the /mu-plugins/ folder….

    Trent

    @trent

    So that worked? object-cache on WPMU can be a difficult animal and even though I keep trying it out from time to time, I usually have to quit using it due to some issue or another…

    @famous are you using hyperdb or multi-database from incsub? That seemed to screw up the member search for me. You should have a bunch of errors in your apache log about not finding the correct database when you attempt to search if you are using that.

    You still have to clear all the entries in /wp-content/cache/ I would imagine though. It will most likely be that since the pages are still saved with those variables. It might help to turn “turbo” off for that blog as well to be sure until it is fixed.

    Just to add, they will be the ones that say FATAL ERROR as well ;)

    If you visit the main WPMU blog dashboard as site-admin, it will run the upgrade check on your buddypress plugins. It should update them that way (at least it is supposed to).

    Each function has to have a different name or else php will break plugin into errors. Every function on your install has to have a unique name, so I was just saying each little function has has the button created needs a unique names, yes. You can put as many as you want in there as long as they have different function names.

    ‘add_forum_link’

    ‘add_about_link’

    ‘add_download_link’

    ‘add_buddypresslove_link’

    ‘add_donate_link’

    etc

    This sounds like you have object-cache.php running in your /wp-content/ folder right? I have seen this and can’t remember if it was object cache or xcache that was getting poisoned somewhere along the way. I would delete all contents out of your /wp-content/cache/ folder and reboot your web server (apache?). I have had all kinds of issues with object cache and frankly am trying to quit trying to use it :)

    If it is something else, let me know but it sure strikes of a cache issue.

    No more difficult, but functions need different names for example, this brings 3 buttons in:

    <?php

    function add_forum_link() {
    echo '<li><a href="http://yourdomain.com/your-smf-url.php">Forums</a></li>';
    }

    function add_about_link() {
    echo '<li><a href="http://yourdomain.com/about.php">About</a></li>';
    }

    function add_download_link() {
    echo '<li><a href="http://yourdomain.com/downloads.php">Downloads</a></li>';
    }

    add_action( 'bp_nav_items', 'add_forum_link' );
    add_action( 'bp_nav_items', 'add_about_link' );
    add_action( 'bp_nav_items', 'add_download_link' );

    ?>

    All can be in the same file called extras-links.php or whatever in /mu-plugins/ or you could create 3 seperate files with the functions, but if you have many, it is better in one plugin I think.

    Didn’t finish my thoughts…sorry, put that smf-link.php in your /mu-plugins/ folder and then it will withstand upgrades without having to edit core files…

    You mean adding a link to your form in the theme? Create a file called smf-link.php and put the following in it (changing it to the smf install):

    <?php

    function add_forum_link() {
    echo '<li><a href="http://yourdomain.com/your-smf-url.php">Forums</a></li>';
    }
    add_action( 'bp_nav_items', 'add_forum_link' );

    ?>
