In reply to: Share user’s content within buddypress friends
Have you looked at https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-activity-share/ ? that looks like it does something similar to what you are looking for.
In reply to: Redirect Loop making website inaccessibleTry running with just BuddyPress active and with a default theme such as 2017, the chaces are it’s another plugin messing with BuddyPress that is causing this.
In reply to: Set default cover image por all usersHi there, you seem to be using the wrong filter, try
bp_before_xprofile_cover_image_settings_parse_argsIn reply to: Profile Picture not shown when croppingYes I’m afraid Jetpack is a bit notorious in not fixing bugs caused in BuddyPress, for BP sites it’s best avoided in my experience.
In reply to: block the ability to add a video to the wallI think this comes down to the bp embed function which automatically puts a recognised url into an Iframe.
This function would undo that, however I’m not sure how it would react of other types of embeds but you could give it a try:
add_filter( 'bp_embed_oembed_html', function( $html, $url, $attr, $rawattr ) { return '<a href="' . $url . '">' . $url . '</a>'; }, 10, 4 );Have you looked at https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-followers/ ?
In reply to: Profile Picture not shown when croppingI’d think I’ve check for errors in the browser console and also enable WP_DEBUG and see if there are any php errors that might give a clue but it’s very odd if you are getting this with just BP active and on a default theme. The only other things to rule out would be your environment itself – hosting and browser.
In reply to: Profile Picture not shown when croppingDo you have any custom code that might be messing it up? functions.php, bp-custom.php etc?
In reply to: can I replace comment system? There’s a plugin that allows you to replace comments with forum topics but I’ve not seen one that replaces them with activity, though by default the BP activity system does integrate with post comments pretty well.
In reply to: Profile Picture not shown when croppingThe uploaded avatar image should display along with the crop dialogue. Not seeing it would indicate a plugin or theme conflict. Did you try with a default theme such as 2017?
As far as I can see user ids should not be re-used, that db field is set to auto-increment
Group-o-Matic looks like it’s doing something similar to what you want, did you try it? There’s lots of old plugins out there that still work, hence there’s no need to update them.
In reply to: Back to Previous PageI think you would need to raise a new feature request on Trac for this – https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/
In reply to: Buddypress versus Facebook groupsYes I’d say it can, BP has Hidden and PRivate groups, which means only invited site members can join. For added security you can install BP Registration Options which would allow you to vet all new site members and a privacy plugin such as BP Members Only would make doubly sure of the overall privacy of the site. Search engines won’t see anything since they are not members of the site and those pages will only be available to view by site members who have been invited to join the group. Also, if an existing member wee to turn troll, it’s a lot easier to ban then from the platform entirely.
In reply to: Field visibility option not workedTry checking with a user of subscriber role.
In reply to: Field visibility option not workedI’d try deactivating all plugins apart from BuddyPress and switching to a default theme, just for a few minutes and see if that fixes it.
In reply to: bp_nav was called incorrectlyTry removing that code from your functions.php as a start, that’s nav related. This is pretty much the ideal use case for one of my more obscure plugins – https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-template-overloader
In reply to: Field visibility option not workedIt’s working fine on my system so there must be something stopping it from working. Did the setting actually save when you edited it?
This will probably come down to a process of elimination – try a default theme, rule out all other plugins and other code modifications.
In reply to: bp_nav was called incorrectlyYep this is one of those unhelpful errors where it points to the code generating the actual error message and not the code causing the issue. Have you tried switching to a default theme to rule out that kind of thing entirely? Last time I had one of these it turned out to be code in my bp-custom.php, which was last on my list of things to check.
In reply to: Add file upload field in profile fieldsThat looks like it will, seems to have a generic file type as an option
In reply to: Add file upload field in profile fieldsWhat are you looking to upload? The only plugin that includes an upload feature that I’ aware of is https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-xprofile-image-field/
There’s no plugin that would do this, you’d need to write some custom code for it.
In reply to: How do I remove the “this field can be seen by”I just tried this which worked on the edit profile page:
.field-visibility-settings-toggle, .field-visibility-settings-notoggle { display:none; }In reply to: Only receiver of messageYou can add this to your functions.php:
function bpex_revise_message_to( $recipients ) { $href = bp_core_get_user_domain( get_current_user_id() ); $explode = explode( ', ', $recipients ); foreach ( $explode as $index => $to_link ) { if ( strpos( $to_link, $href ) !== false ) { unset($explode[$index]); } } $recipients = implode( ', ', $explode ); return $recipients; } add_filter('bp_message_thread_to', 'bpex_revise_message_to' );This does not work with BP Nouveau though.
In reply to: Registration Email/ ActivationHi there,
I’d deactivate all other plugins and switch to the 2017 theme then see if that works.
