There’s a filter
bp_activity_can_commentwhich you can use to filter whether a user can comment on activities:add_filter( 'bp_activity_can_comment', 'venutius_filter_commenting' ); function venutius_filter_commenting( $can_comment ) { if ( current_user_can( 'excluded_role' ) ) { return false; } return $can_comment; }Replace the excluded_role with the role you want to deny commenting.
In reply to: I cant change the profile pictureHi andhi,
Are you able to crop with just BuddyPress loaded and with a default theme such as 2017?
Hi Raakesh, glad it’s working for you, could you let me know which BP Theme you are using and Ill see if I can write some code to restrict joining to only one group?
In reply to: user profile fieldsIf you’ve removed them from the profile group then I’d check to see they have been removed from the database it’s the bp_xprolfile_fields db you are looking for.
Have you deactivated user creation of groups in Settings>>BuddyPress>>Options?
In reply to: user profile fieldsIt’s not clear what you are asking here, rooms? Are you talking about profile fields? did you remove some from the Users>>Profile Fields page for the Base field group but they still show up in registration, or something else?
Sounds like you need to raise a feature request with one of the authors of the extra xprofile field types or write your own.
In reply to: Giving editor access to edit extended profileThink I found the problem, it was only loading if messaging was active, I’ve removed that check now.
In reply to: Giving editor access to edit extended profileThat indicated it’s not recognising you as admin. I’ve changed this check now, could you reload and try?
I guess the first thing to check is that you have set your permalink structure to be non-default? Try saving that setting and see if it works.
In reply to: Giving editor access to edit extended profileAh that was it, I’ve been using the settings link from the settings menu, I’ve fixed the link on the plugins page now.
In reply to: Users social linksYou can add a url profile field and let users add their social links to that. It’s a feature I’m considering for my BP User Widgets and BP Profile Home Widgets plugins.
In reply to: Giving editor access to edit extended profileHi John, that’s odd I’m nt seeing that error, are you multisite or single-site?
I’ve updated restrict group creation to allow limits based on the number of group memberships
Hi there, another plugin to help you is https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-restrict-group-creation/ this will allow you to restrict members from creating more than one group.
If I updated this to include a restriction based on the number of group membership then that would help.
Looking at the code you’d also need to restrict the group join button showing so that it only shows for members not already in a group. How you do this depends on the BP Theme you are using, Legacy or Nouveau.
In reply to: Search activity from title or member nameHi there, I found another filter for you to try:
add_filter( 'bp_activity_get_include_title_search', '__return_true' );Ok I’ve added a very basic control, I’ll update this when I have time. you can give me your feedback at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/bp-messaging-control/
In reply to: Emails are never receivedHi there, here’s the steps I would take:
Deactivate all other plugins.
Switch to 2017 theme and test
Check for changes to functions.php, wp-config.php, bp-custom.php ( if you have one ) basically any place where custom scripts could be hiding.
Try recreating your emails in the Tools>>BuddyPress admin page.
If they still don’t work
Enable WP-DEBUG, install Query Monitor plus an error log viewer. initiate some emails and see if you get any errors at the same time.In reply to: Statistics of usersI took a look at that plugin, it no longer works. So I’ve refreshed it here. https://github.com/Venutius/buddypress-component-stats however a lot of the functions never originally worked as far as I can see. I’ll try and get it fixed.
There’s another old plugin but this one still works – https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-member-profile-stats/ possibly not what you are looking for.
Glad you got it working. I can probably do something for @mentions, might not give the same level of control but I’ll look into it.
But could you post your comments over on the plugins wordpress forum? best keep this forum for BP related issues.
In reply to: Associating WordPress Posts with a member profileThe only way I know would be to use Co-Authors Plus and give the post a secondary author.
It will pick up any roles you have configured and use them
In reply to: Search activity from title or member nameAll I can suggest is that you are not copying the functions.php file into the right theme directory, not likely but that could cause the new function not to be seen.
In reply to: Activity page tag optionsWhen you say a denied user, what do you mean? BP standalone does not have a feature such as this so it my be that you have a plugin adding this feature and if so I’d ask that plugins developer to filter the mentions list for activity.
In reply to: Associating WordPress Posts with a member profileI’ve got a BP specific front end editor – https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-site-post this adds a profile tab for the members posts list. I believe Brajesh’s https://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-simple-front-end-post/ does the same.
