Buddypress did the the theme modification when I installed it, but now I want to unistall. How do I do it properly? I deactivated the plugins already, but the template files still show buddypress stuff.

    Help?

Restore your theme from your backups.

That solution isn’t really possible if you’ve made changes to the them since installing buddypress. At least I can’t imagine how. I have a similar situation – trying to get rid of buddy press but terrified that pulling it out is going to screw the rest of the site… Is there a more foolproof way to do this?

So basically I have to redo all the changes I made to the theme after installing buddypress? That sucks. I tried restoring some of the files, but the buddypress installation screwed it up so that when I edit certain template files, like index.php, the changes do not take effect at all. It simply ignores it. I can’t figure out why.

it sounds like you would need to undo any theme modifications you made to make your theme compatible with BP.
